Chapter 38 - Back to cold

Inside the room...

The curtains were down and the room was dim. The only light in the whole room were given by the rays of the sun piercing through the small openings of the curtains. Their was no sign of life whatsoever, everything was calm and eerily quiet. The bed was made, untouched as if no one slept in it- and no one did, and everything seem to be in place, except for a few accessories that were scattered on the floor.

High heels stilettos shoes, a purse, jewels, finally the beautiful black dress was left in a pool at the entrance of the bathroom.

Even in the bathroom nothing was out of place and no one was in there. Only the large bath tub was filled with water to the brim. The water's surface was calm and clear. Through it a silhouette could be distinguished. Then bubbles of air came from it and popped at the surface. The calm water started to move slightly and the silhouette in the water moved to rise to the surface.

Dahlia sat up with a small gasp, taking in much needed breath and opened her vivid green eyes now clear from the haze. Her hair was stuck to her beautiful face and water dripped down her face. She looked around expressionless and pulled her knees to her chest, hugging them lightly.

Last night, her body was so hot, she could barely keep onto her sanity and run back to his arms. She had known she would her going through this but she had never imagined this. Dahlia always had a plan ahead but this time she was caught up in her own stubbornness but what else could she do? Accepting him was risky, too risky for him. This was the safest way for him. He was better away from her.

She had ended up in this tub filled with icy cold water to cool her body, in the end she fell into a kind of slumber in the tub. At least she felt somewhat better now.

Taking in a deep breath, she stood up causing the water to ripple and drip down her droolworthy goddess body, revealing a black tattoo on the side of her stomach. She stepped out of the bathtub and got ready to leave. Packing the things she brought with her.

When she got out of her room, she found a word on Eder's door opposite her own. He must have left it there to make sure she sees it first as she leaves her room.

[hey sleeping beauty. We are waiting for you at the restaurant, kiss] she looked at the message and her stoic face turned somewhat light.

...

"I think I should go and check on her" Eder said, worry was evident in his voice.

"She is not made of sugar, she will come out. She is just taking her time, like most women." Matt rolled his eyes trying to reason with him. Eder had been wanting to go and knock on her door and Matt had a hard time keeping him back. Eder tapped his feet on the floor for two seconds and made up his mind, he was going to check.

"I really think I should…" he said while standing up but he trailed off when he saw her coming, gorgeous as always but with her signature stoic face.

"see, you didn't have to worry" Matt told him. Eder ignored him and walked up to her as she approached.

"good morning, how do you feel?" he asked out of genuine concern.

"good" she replied curtly. "are you ready? We have to leave?"

"did you forget that the jet is at our complete disposal?" he drew a chair for her "relax, let's take a coffee"

"we better not waste time." she said coldly "where is Emmett?" Eder narrowed his eyes at her. What is going on now?

"right here" Emmett replied immediately.

"let's get going Emmett" she told him and started to walk away. Eder followed her and grabbed her arm to make her stop.

"Dahlia, what happened? Why are you acting like this?" he asked searching her gaze but she was painfully expressionless and unreadable.

"I am not sure to understand Mr Galann"

"oh please stop with this. We already passed this stage"

"I don't know what you are talking about. If you are ready, let's go"

"what if I am not?"

"then you can take your time and the pilot will come back for you after dropping us" she said with a formal tone and walked away.

Eder looked at her retreating back with a frown, until she disappeared. Just yesterday she was starting to open up to him and now she was back to her cold self. If that was her strategy to keep him away from her then it is failed because he was not going anywhere. But he had a nagging feeling that something was terribly wrong and he couldn't shake off the feeling that it had to do with him. Something in him was pushing him to her as if he was sure he could be the solution.

"Matt! Let's go" he called without looking back.

"at your orders boss" Matt sighed and stood up, then said that with sarcasm when he reached him before continuing. Eder then followed.

A while later, they were all on the leave. Boarding the jet back to their country. The trip back was quiet. No one spoke. Not even concerning business. They just kept quiet and dealt with their thoughts in their corners.

When they landed, they went separate ways, as if nothing happened. At least, Dahlia made haste to leave and go back home with Emmett. It left Eder wondering.

"looks like your goddess is running away from you" Matt told him as they watched Dahlia's car drive away.

"she can run as much as she want. I will get her" Eder said with pure determination. Matt looked at him and shook his head. Then he patted his back and headed to their car.
