Morian knew Grim was right deep down; he had imprisoned and tortured her soulmate for centuries, preventing them from reuniting in countless lifetimes. His rage and jealousy had driven him to do heinous things just to be near Mortala. There was nothing he wouldn't do to be with Mortala, or Delilah in this lifetime. Finally, he was so close to having her, being able to care for her in the hospital, touching her after millennia of yearning to feel her. Nothing would stand in his way; he would literally set the world on fire to have her.
Delilah was bored out of her mind at home, and her Aunty and Kim wouldn't stop treating her like a fragile creature who needed to be cuddled. She was tired of it and wanted to get out of the house. Her phone rang, and it was her friend Joyce on the other end. Joyce had been on vacation in Europe with her handsome wealthy beau. She excitedly answered the phone.
"Hey girl," Delilah said, eager to learn about Joyce's adventures.
"How are you, Lilah?"
"Fine and bored, please tell me you've returned. "I need to know everything about your romantic summer adventure."
"Girl!!!!!! When I say I've had the time of my life, Lilah, I'm simply living a fairytale."
"Spill!!!"
"Marvin is incredible." Lilah, I never imagined meeting a man so wonderful and kind. He meets all of my needs, and the sex... girl, he rocks my world."
"Ugh, I can only imagine."
"So, tell me, whatever happened to that hottie Kim Dae-Jung?"
"Omg Joyce, we finally did it."
Joyce screamed; "yes girl I knew it, I wonder why you didn't jump his bones sooner. I was beginning to think something was wrong with you. Tell me how it was. Give me every juicy detail."
"Joyce he is an amazing lover, the things he did to me, it is forever etched in my mind and body."
"Oh, baby he did a number on you, I'm so happy for you. We need to meet up soon, what are you doing later this evening?"
"Nothing, please come over. I'm so bored and tired of being bedridden."
"It's a date then."
Delilah showered and changed her clothes. Before Joyce arrived, she wanted to go get a bottle of wine. Her friends and she had gone through every bottle in her cellar. She went down to the wine shop after getting her car keys. She proceeded to the aisle containing her favorite Italian wines.
"Delilah?"
She turned to face whoever had called her name, which was, to her surprise, Morian. The handsome doctor with a face carved by angels.
"Dr. Morian!" What an unexpected surprise."
"How are you, Delilah?" he asked with a smile.
Being in his company felt like she was under a spell; he had to be one of the most beautiful men she had ever seen. His strange, beautiful eyes were exquisite, and he was the first person she had met who had heterochromia. His green eye reminded her of a lovely emerald stone, and his light brown one of a yellow citrine crystal. He was otherworldly, and there was a darkness and danger about him that scared her. He always had this look in his eyes as if he knew her, and she felt the same way; there was something familiar about him that she couldn't place.
"I'm fine, buying wine to celebrate my friend's return from her summer vacation in Europe," Delilah said, snapping out of her trance.
He smiled sweetly at her.
"You really shouldn't be drinking so soon, as your doctor i advise against it. I wouldn't want you to be sick, even if it would give me an excuse to see you again."
He was flirting with her, and while she was flattered, she didn't believe he was romantically interested in her.
She tried to conceal the fact that his presence had an effect on her. As she smiled, she blushed.
"Careful Doctor Morian or you just might get your wish."
"No, me amenaces con pasar un buen rato, guapa." Morian replied with a cheeky smile.
"I didn't know you spoke Spanish, what does that mean?"
"It means; don't threaten me with a good time, beautiful."
"So, where are you from?"
"I am Western African, from Angola"
"Wow, very interesting, I am Nigerian," replied Delilah.
"A Nigerian in America, very interesting. I figured from your beautiful dark brown skin, full luscious lips, and honey-pooled brown eyes." Replied Doctor Morian as he looked into her eyes and then at her lips.
Delilah couldn't breathe because her heart was racing. This man took her breath away.
There was a brief moment of silence as they looked into each other's eyes before Delilah's phone rang; it was Kim.
She returned her gaze to Morian, who was still staring at her.
"I must depart; it was good to see you again, Morian." She turned and walked away.
"The same here."
Morian was disappointed that their meeting had been cut short, but he was a patient man who knew it would only be a matter of time before he saw her again.
