Abigail's world stroke Mr Nyimbo in the heart, but he was not going to be weak in front of his daughter. He sat on the seat behind the desk and brought out his handkerchief which he handed to Abigail across the desk. He had always wanted to have a talk with Abigail on this issue, but he didn't because he hated seeing her cry.
"Has he done anything else to you apart from that." He asked with a fatherly tone.
"Elder, that man is a womanizer, me and that girl weren't enough for him. He cheated on her too and she thought it was with me Edward cheated her. He even allowed that girl threaten to kill me, and I was almost...." Abigail stopped talking as she bust into tears, not knowing how to tell her father she was almost rapped.
" Almost what? Rapped?" Mr Nyimbo asked and Abigail lifted her head to look at him, with shock written on her face. She couldn't believe her father already knew what she went through, and if he did, why was he being hard on her still.
"I know what happened, and I also know who saved you, but I don't think you have to be this weak because of that." Mr Nyimbo said when Abigail didn't say anything.
" Elder, Edward is a monster, I don't want to be with him, pls don't let him come for me, else you might lose me for good." Abigail said between tears.
"He'll be here in weeks or months time. I'll like you to be here so you can tell him yourself." Mr Nyimbo said.
The calmness in his voice was something Abigail couldn't understand, she had expected him to shout on her or at least disagree with her, but he didn't do anything like that, and he didn't accept her wishes either. Instead he gave her the chance to stand up for herself in front of Edward, which she was thankful for.
"I'll take my leave now." Abigail said as she made to leave the study.
" Do you love him." Mr Nyimbo asked, which caused Abigail to stop at the door.
She knew the 'him' her father was talking about, but she was not sure what to say. She stayed at the door thinking of what would be the right answer to give her father, when she heard him talking again. "You know he's getting married soon right? Do you plan on becoming a second wife or what?" He asked.
" I do not plan on becoming anyone's second wife, I know it's forbidden in this family." Abigail retaliated angrily.
"That still doesn't answer my question. Do you love him?" He asked again.
" I don't know what I feel for him now, but am sure it pure than what I feel for that monster." Abigail said and storm out of the room and just when she did, she was hugged by someone she didn't expect to be home.
"Hay you are choking me." She said as she couldn't breath due to the tight hug.
"Sister, I missed you." Dorcas said as she redrawn from the hug and kiss Abigail on the check. She placed her hand around Abigail's shoulder as they walked back to the sitting area. "Sister, you didn't tell me he was this handsome." She mumble as they sat in a sofa next to Enoch's.
"Sister, you should have told me that he was ....." Abigail held the back of Dorcas's head and covered her mouth with her hand, knowing she was about to say something she shouldn't.
"That he was what? Mr Nyimbo asked from behind them and Abigail had no choice than to let go of her little sister.
" Elder, She told me she met a man who was kind to her, but she didn't say he was this handsome." Dorcas said with an accusing face, looking at Abigail, which caused all of them to laugh.
"Let get to the dinning table, lunch is served." Mr Nyimbo said as he took the lead to the table.
Enoch was about to deny the offer, but the sudden rumbling of Gideon's stomach forced him to accept. He turned and gave Gideon a deathly gaze, from which he would have died if looks could kill. Gideon lifted and dropped his shoulder as he opened his hands to show it wasn't intentional, but he knew Enoch won't forgive him for that.
Mame Vida was already seated at the table with Mr Nyimbo and Dorcas waiting for their visitors as two other people joined them in the room. A boy who looked older than Dorcas and a girl who seems to be the youngest in the family.
"Wow, sister you are here? you didn't say you were coming." The boy asked.
"Sorry Emma, it was impromptu. Why are you home this early?" Abigail asked.
"I picked Sandra from school, I'll be going back to work soon." Emma replied as he turned to look at the new faces in the room with his sister.
"They are my friends, let get to the dinning room. Mom and Dad are waiting." Abigail said, knowing the meaning of the look her brother gave, but she wasn't going to explain further.
Mr Nyimbo sat at the head of the table, with Mame Vida seated by his right side as Dorcas and Sandra sat beside her. Gideon harried to the table when he noticed there was only one seat beside Emma, and occupied it at the left side of Mr Nyimbo.
This gave Enoch no choice than to sit at the other end of the table, opposite Mr Nyimbo. He smirked as he noticed the change in the expression of Abigail's family, knowing Gideon did that on purpose.
Mr Nyimbo had no issue with Enoch sitting at the other end, which meant he could pass as the head of the family, but seeing his daughter Abigail, sitting at the right side of Enoch upset him.
"That woman you are getting married to, she threaten my daughter. What are you doing about that? Mr Nyimbo asked a while after they started eating.
"You don't have to worry about your daughter's safety, I'll take care of that." Enoch assured, knowing the question was meant for him.
" You know she was here right? What if next time she makes it to Abigail's apartments?" Mame Vida added after a while of silence.
Enoch clinged his jow and stared at the yam and cabbage stew in front of him, with his hands clinged to the folk and knife in a fist. " I knew it." He mumbled under his breath as he was fuming with rage. He had suspected that when he noticed Abigail's parents knew a lot of things about him, but confirming it got him angry.
Abigail passed her hand under the dinning table, and help Enoch's knee as she squeezed it slightly to calm him, knowing the topic was Enoch's weakness. She eat her food with her other hand, pretending nothing was happening as she waited for Enoch's reply.
"Before she makes her way to Abigail's apartments, she'll be dealt with. And don't worry, she won't be here again." Enoch replied calmly, but with the breath behind his words, everyone knew he was caging his anger.
Thanks to the plenty joke from Emma and Gideon, the rest of the dinner was a peaceful one, with Abigail and Enoch exchanging looks from time to time. Mr Nyimbo saw how cozy the two were being in front of him, but he just nodded his head to shake it off anytime he saw them.
On the other hand, Mame Vida did not like their closeness one bit. She wished there was a way she could separate them instantly, or at least let them know they can't be together. But from the look of things, her husband seem not to care, and she couldn't understand why.
"Make sure to be home when your husband to be is here." Mame Vida said strictly as Abigail, Gideon and Enoch were leaving the house.
"Marry him to one of your princesses Mom, I don't want to be with him." Abigail shouted back and closed the door behind her as she left with the men, Gideon and Enoch.
"Looks like I have lots of work to do in getting her by my side." Enoch stated as they made their way out of Abigail's parents compound.
"What did you and my father talked about that made him like you? Did you promised him something?" Abigail asked as she was curious to know why her father looked so calm about everything.
"That's a secret..." Enoch said playfully and asked Gideon to get them a cab.
Immediately they entered the cab Gideon got for them, Abigail's phone started ringing and it was from work when she checked. "Mr Awuku is calling, but why?" she mumble as she answered the call. "Get to the office now." She heard the commanding voice of Mr Awuku on the other side of the phone before the call ended.
"What the heck?" She said as she wasn't supposed to be at work until later in the evening, and being called to work like that caused her to worry as to what might be the case. She kept staring at her phone, wondering why the man didn't at least ask where she was before throwing orders at her.
She dialed Mr Awuku's number again to see if he could explain why he called, but the man wouldn't answer his phone. Fear and panic set in, and Abigail begin to sweat, not knowing what the reason why she was called urgently may be.
"Hay! What is it?" Enoch asked when he saw the state Abigail was in.
"Mr Awuku called, he wants me to be at the office now. Driver please hurry." She replied with worry and fear.
"I thought you were to report later in the evening?" Enoch asked not understanding why she was called in that manner.
The drive from the junction to Abigail's parents house, to her work place was a quick one. As Enoch didn't want Abigail to be late or go alone, he decided on driving the car himself, using minutes to complete an hour journey.
"She's here, we found her. But she is claiming she is not the one." Mr Awuku said immediately he saw Abigail entering the charge office.
