Chereads / I AM HIS ONLY LOVE / Chapter 43 - [AT THE SORPHNAF MANSION]

Chapter 43 - [AT THE SORPHNAF MANSION]

"The motorbike we was on the road was familiar, and even though it was a guy who was involved in what seems like an accident, am sure it was a plan to stop me." Enoch said and I gave him a questioning look so he continued talking.

" That bike belongs to the same woman that called to threaten you the last time, am sure of it because I know how canning she can be, and she threaten me just last night, so I know it her doing."

Enoch said, adding fear to my already worried heart. Thank God he was not looking at me, but was preparing to eat his food as he spoke. I was able to compose myself on time to hide my fears and worries.

"What if it's not her but a real accident? How will you know since you didn't get down to check? You think she's capable of that?" I asked, trying to sound bold but infact, I was scared than the word scared itself.

"I don't think, I know for sure, but don't worry okay, I know how to handle her and she can't outsmart me." Enoch said with a smirk.

I was trying my possible best not to be worried, bet the fear of what the rich can do was dragging me down. I ate my rice and chicken stew silently, praying everything goes well at his family house.

"Queen." I heard Enoch calling me so I lifted my face to look at him, but he was still engrossed in his food, not even giving me a glance. "Yes!" I said simply, signaling him to talk.

"Understand me if you find something about me that you think I should have been the one to tell you. I just want you to find everything out yourself, it will help you to know me better." Enoch said and I could not control my emotions anymore.

"Why would he want me to find out things about him, and why does he care about what I think of him? What does it mean for him if I understand him or not? It not like he is my fiance or anything, because he hasn't even said he loves me even once, nor has he asked me to be his, so why was he being so gentle?"

Many thoughts and questions I couldn't answer was all that was in my head, but the person to answer my unspoken questions was playing dump, even though he was not.

" Why do you say that, is there something because of which I can't understand you?" Summoning some courage to make my voice farm I asked one of the numerous questions in my head.

" I know that witch told you more than you said to me, and there are some truth to what she said, but there is more you have to find out, I don't know how much you'll get to know today, but just try and understand me if you don't like what you get to know." His voice was farm as he spoke politely, but I could still feel some bitterness behind his words.

Keeping my cool, I finished my food and we went back to the car for Gideon to drive as back to the same building with the beautiful fence wall we left earlier. This time the gate open on it own when the car got a lot closer, and we entered.

Like a gentleman, Enoch open the door of the car for me and I stepped into the Sorphnaf Mansion with shock written on my face, which I had to forcefully hide. I couldn't believe my eyes was seeing such a huge and beautiful house, not just that, my slander legs were stepping on the colorful pavement in the house.

I couldn't take my eyes off the many beautiful and colorful flowers in the Lage compound. I wished I was allowed to walk through and spread out my hands and make my fingers touch the petals of the flowers, but Enoch held my hand as if he knew what I was thinking and wanted to stop me from doing so.

We walked hand in hand to the living room of the mansion and I could tell from the luxurious decor that, the girl called Efua didn't lie to me. Enoch's family was indeed rich, and the three story building I was in was one of the many properties they have

The members of the family were already seated, waiting for us to arrive. The fear that was long gone came back like an unwanted visitor, replacing the astonishment I felt earlier, making me tighten my hold on Enoch's hand.

A middle aged woman stood up from her seat and walked to as upon seeing us, I mean Enoch, at the entrance, making me let go of Enoch's hand in a haste. "Enoch my Prince, you are welcome, I miss you." The woman said as she was coming close to us, opening her arms for a hug.

For a while I thought she was going to hug Enoch, and I was anxious because I didn't know what she might think of me, but I was shock to the bone when she hugged me instead. The warmth in her embrace calmed my frightened heart, making me breath through my mouth.

"Don't be nervous, nobody bits here." The woman whispered into my ears, and we both giggle like kids. Enoch was surprised to see the woman and I get along instantly but said nothing.

"Am Georgina, Enoch's mother, nice meeting you." The woman said wait a welcoming smile as we started walking to the sitting area.

"The pleasure is all mine, thanks for accepting me in your home, am Abigail." I said simply but the woman stopped in her trace and gave Enoch a questioning look, but all he did was to smirk as the woman repeated my name "Abigail."

Escorted by Enoch's mother, we reached the sitting area where I saw different faces with smiles of different thought. But the one I couldn't cope with was the strict expressionless face of the old man among them, who I thought to be Enoch's father.

Placing my right hand in my left palm, I brought it close to my lower waist and squat a bit to greet the strict looking man, to which he responded with a light nod of his head and a lifted hand. That's the respectful way to greet an elderly person in our region locally, but few has it in mind.

My actions made the man a bit happy and I saw a light smile linger on his lips shortly before he went back to his strict mood again. I went round the sofa greeting everyone present with a hand shake, which is also the local way to great when you get into a gathering.

After exchanging pleasantries I thought things were going well untill I was asked of my name, I had to tell them my name because they had already given me theirs. I'd gotten to know the names of everyone in the room and who they a

were to Enoch, so I had to give mine.

"Am Abigail." I said to them looking at Enoch and feeling proud of my name as he smiled back at me. I took a look at the rest when I noticed the room went silence all of a sudden, and I didn't like the looks on their faces one bit.

"A witch or an angel?" Rita, Enoch's elder sister said loudly to everyone's hearing, breaking the unwanted silence.

"Rita!!!..." The remaining members of Enoch's family except his father shouted in unison.

"What?..... I just want to know, I don't want any surprises later." Rita said blatantly, lifting and dropping her shoulders, which caused me to think what I did wrong to her. Because she had been unfriendly since I got to the house with Enoch.

"Non of the above, and which ever she is, it my duty to think about, not yours." I heard Enoch's cold voice saying and I felt like he was being disrespectful to his sister, but I somehow felt good when Enoch spoke on my behalf.

"I think we should get to the dinning table, the food might get cold." Enoch's mother Georgina said, stopping her children from the tension filled conversation.

We started eating and everything was alright, but my stomach couldn't take anymore food, not just that, I couldn't eat in front of the strict looking faces I was seeing.

"Why? Don't you like the food?" Old Damtis, Enoch's father asked, speaking to me for the first time.

"Not that sir, am just full from what I ate earlier." I said with my head bowed.

"Are you sure you are full or you just haven't eaten anything like this before?" The sarcastic voice of Rita came again.

"Rita, Why don't you let the girl be, she said she's full." Daniel the elder brother of Enoch, next to Rita, was the one to defend me this time.

"Sister Abigail, don't mind her, she's always bitter." Enoch's little sister Becca, who sat next to me, whispered into my ears and giggle after.

"Why don't you try the desert instead." Georgina said, placing a slice of cake on a plate before handing it to me and I accepted it with a smile.

Enoch noticed I was feeling uneasy and held my left hand with his right hand, fortunately, he was left handed so eating with his left hand was not a problem for him nor his family.

"See me in my study later, I want to have a word with you two." Old Damtis said to Enoch but he didn't reply. He took a look at his mother and I noticed her nodding her head to give her son assurance.

"Enoch, I thought you'll be dating a girl with a different name like Angel or Angela, what happened? Didn't you say Abigails are witches?" Rita said again sarcastically.

"Sister Rita, Abigail's are not witches, in fact they are kind and beautiful." The charming voice of Douglas, the baby among the Damtis family and Enoch's brother said angrily, pouching his lips.
