"Sister Rita, Abigails are not witches, in fact they are kind and beautiful." The charming voice of Douglas, the baby among the Damtis family and Enoch's brother said angrily, pouching his lips.
"Dougy I know, but your brother here painted everyone of them black as witches, and he still went for one." Rita said sarcastically gain and I knew instantly she didn't like me one bit.
My hold on Enoch's hand tighten when I saw on his face how angry he was, I could tell he was just caging his anger because of me. I took a look at his parent, wondering why they were not saying anything to their annoying child. But the way they both looked at me told me they were just waiting to see how I'll handle things.
"Enoch, I heard you visited Abigail yesterday, how is she doing, I mean the witch as you call her." Rita said again and this time, even I was angry, not with her but with Enoch. He didn't tell me he went to her before coming to me the previous night.
Enoch got mad and stood up from his seat, but my tight hold on his hand stopped him from what ever he wanted to do. Lifting up my head to look at him, I prayed he consider my presence, and after taking in long and deep breath away from my sight, he turned to look at me before sitting down on his seat next to me.
"Wow! I think we found the beauty to tame the beast." Daniel exclaimed when he saw how I stopped Enoch from doing anything bad to Rita.
Enoch didn't reply him but kept his sight fixed on me, and I could see how hard it was for him to control his anger. He clinched both his teeth and fist, breathing in continuously to calm himself, which made me smile. I was happy with how I could get to him even though he was angry.
Seeing me smile, Enoch's anger was replaced with a questioning look. He didn't understand why I was not worried or angry but instead smiling at his anger. He turned to his mother and I followed his sight, and seeing her son calm and me not worried, she gave us a smile too.
"So tell us Enoch, is the wedding with Efua coming on or not? I mean your fiance." Daniel said after a while of silence.
"She is not my fiance." Enoch roar loudly, fuming with rage, breaking the little chan between his anger and the silence.
"But you are getting married either way." Rita said while smiling.
Enoch got off his seat and smashed it to the ground in anger. "Am not marring her don't you get that?"
Enoch was fuming with anger and I had no idea what to do, but I knew I had to stop him one way or the other. His parent wear also not saying anything, waiting to see what I'll do.
"Did you even tell Abigail you were getting married to another person called Abigail too?" The sarcasm in Rita's voice was what even annoyed me as well.
"Shat the hell up and mind your business. Why don't you go to your husbands house." Enoch said as he slammed his hand on the table in front of Rita as she continued to laugh, but Enoch's last statement shat her up.
"Will you shat everyone up, what about Efua, do you think she'll keep quiet? Daniel ask.
" If you worry so much about her, then why don't you marry her instead?" Enoch replied.
" She was betrothed to you and not me." Daniel said, being sarcastic as well.
" You can have her if you want, after all, you are good in handling second hand goods, Enoch said with a smirk.
"And what about you, are you not handling someone's fiance too? Daniel said, referring to me as a second hand goods as well.
I knew Enoch won't let that slide, but I didn't want any fight on my first visit, I also had to prove my worth in Enoch's life to his parents. My heart started tamping faster than ever in my chest, and I could feel my breath quickened.
" If you don't shat that mouth of yours, am going to...." I stood for my seat and rush in front of Enoch when he made a move towards his brother Daniel's direction, and cut his statement shot by hugging his macho figure to my slander body.
"That's enough, I don't want to hear anyone of you three talking again, I'll be in my study." Old Damtis finally spoke up, stopping his tom and jerry kind of children from going any further.
Enoch couldn't hug me back due to his anger, he pushed me off him slightly and took a look at me without saying anything. I could see in his eyes and patted lips how much he wanted to say something to me or maybe kiss me, I thought.
"Enoch, can we step out for a while, I want to see the compound, especially the flowers." I said in a low tone, pointing to the door we came from and in the next second, Enoch took my hand and lead me out of the room.
We got to the flower garden in front of the house and I could see men in all black dresses or uniforms, just like the one I saw behind my window, going to and fro the compound as if they were patrolling the area. "So it was Enoch who sent that guy to keep an eye on me." I said to myself inwardly.
As soon as we were alone in the garden out of everyone's sight, Enoch captured my lips in his and I just let him be. I didn't mind even if someone was watching, because I knew the kiss would calm his loin heart down.
"Aww.... so romantic, don't you think."
"I know right, they look good together."
I forced my lips off Enoch's own and to my embarrassment, Becca and Douglas, Enoch's younger siblings, were standing right next to us, watching me and their brothers passionate kiss. We were so engrossed in the kiss that we didn't see nor hear them get close to us.
"Hay, what are you two doing here." Enoch asked his siblings and I knew he was more than calm.
"I came to speak with sister Abigail and I asked Doggy to come with me." Becca replied nonchalantly.
"Oh am here, hope there's no problem?" I asked trying to start a conversation with her.
"No sister, I just want to take pictures with you if you don't mind. You are so beautiful and I want to have a picture of you." Even though she was a teenager, she spoke so childishly I couldn't say no, but for security reasons, I had to get her brothers permission first.
"Here, let me take it for you." Enoch said when he noticed I didn't know what to say. He took the phone from his sister and took pictures of us, some with him included.
After a while of chatting and taking pictures here and there, his siblings left us on our own and just as they did, a man almost the same physic as Enoch, dressed in an all black suit approached us and Enoch's mood went back to his normal expressionless face again.
"Sir, please Mr Damtis wants to see you, he said you should come with Miss Abigail." The man said and Enoch just nod to respond before he left. Instantly, I understood why Gideon always find it difficult to call Enoch by his name. He's been calling him sir to the point he can't change his tongue to call him anything else, not even his name.
"If you don't want to go you can tell me, I won't force you and nobody will." Enoch said when he noticed the change on my face, thinking I was afraid to meet his father.
"No it's not like that, I just remembered something, let go." I said and he nod his head and took the lead, holding my hand like a child who needed guidelines.
----------
"I hope you are not going to lecture me, because am not ready for that." Enoch said immediately we entered his father's well arranged study room on the second floor of the house.
"Aren't you tried of fighting, have a seat first." Old Damtis said and we took our seat as he instructed.
"What are your plans for them." Old Damtis asked and I knew he was referring to me and Efua as "Them"
"I told you am not ready for lecture, and to make it clear, am not marring that witch you call my betroth." Enoch said blatantly with a cold voice, and I understood why his sister Rita said Abigail's are witches for Enoch.
He hasn't mentioned Efua's name even once, not even her local name that everyone called her with. And he turned to get more angry just by hearing her name.
"You can leave us alone, I want to talk to Abigail not you." Old Damtis said and my heart felt like coming out of my rib cage.
"Why talk to her alone, when she'll tell me what you say to her later?" Enoch asked, not willing to leave me with his strict father.
"She can tell you what I'll say if she wants, but that will be later not now so get out or I'll get you out myself." The cold voice of Enoch's father rang in my ears and I could tell from where Enoch got that freezing cold voice, because my fragile body was freezing to death.
"Will you be okay, do you want me to stay or go?" Enoch asked, putting me in a tight corner of choosing.
"You can go, I'll be okay, but please don't go far." I said to assure him, before he left me to my faith. And the questioning time began immediately Enoch stepped out of the study.
