Chapter 49 - [ THAT WON'T BE NECESSARY ]

Gideon was surprised to see the angry faces of his boss and Abigail. He had imagine them to step out of the house with smiley faces and possibly holding each others hand, but that was not what happened. One looked angry and in a hurry, while the other looked like he didn't care what happens.

"They just spent a night together and this is how they'll go out in the morning?" Gideon thought.

He opened the door to the back seat of the car as Abigail got near, but to his surprise, she bypassed him and went to sit in the front seat of the car instead. A smirk appeared on Enoch's lips as he saw what was going on. He had already foreseen that coming and was prepared for that.

Silently, he entered the car as Gideon was still holding the door open, and started pressing his phone. Gideon's phone started ringing and he took it from his pocket as he sat on the drivers seat, to read the massage he received.

"Don't even think of driving, until she's back here by my side." Gideon read the massage silently and sahy as he gaze at the two, who seem to be in their own different worlds. He folded his arms on the steering wheel and bowed his head over it as he waited for his boss's permission to drive.

Minutes passed but non of the three said a word to anyone. Abigail was beginning to get fed up with the wait as she didn't know why they were even waiting. Gideon sat patiently behind the wheel waiting for the two, whilst Enoch was adamant on waiting till Abigail gets to the back seat with him.

"Why aren't you driving Gideon, what are you waiting for?" Abigail asked frantically.

Not knowing what to say, Gideon just pointed to Enoch at the back seat who seem to be busy with his phone. Abigail turned to look at him and wondered what he was up to. "Aren't we going anymore?" She asked angrily.

"Am waiting for someone." Enoch replied simply.

" Who?" Abigail asked angrily.

"Anyone who will want to sit next to me. I don't intend to go sitting here alone." Enoch said calmly with his face still stack in his phone.

Both Gideon and Enoch thought that would make her go to the back seat, but they were mistaking. She sat up right in the front as she picked her phone and also pretended to be busy with it.

Almost half an hour after, Abigail couldn't wait anymore, She was in a hurry to get to her home town, and Enoch's cars was the only cars available. "Is the person not coming?" She asked as she turned to face Enoch.

"You can replace her if you are in a hurry, if not, we'll have to wait for her." He replied coldly, not caring how she'll feel.

"Her? No way." Abigail thought as she got down from the car. She can't let any 'Her' sit by Enoch, that too in her presence. "Gideon drive." She said as she opened the back door of the car and sat beside Enoch angrily, leaving a huge gab between them.

Gideon turned to his boss and started the car as he saw Enoch nod his head to give him his permission. The journey from Enoch's house, Ankaful to Abura Dunkwa, Abigail's home town, was a long one for everyone, but a very short one for Abigail. She didn't know why her mother wanted to see her so urgently, and the fact that she was going home with another man scared her the most.

Abigail's family was a strictly Christian family who believe in chastity. Even though she didn't really followed that norms, she respected her parents's believe. She didn't want to do anything that will give people reasons to say anything bad about her parents's up bringing.

"Stop the car here." Abigail said to Gideon as the car reached a junction which was about fifty kilometers away from her house.

She got down from the car immediately it came to a stop, and the two men wondered why she was behaving strangely. "We'll have to walk from here." she said to Enoch, who was still in the car. He opened his arms to ask why as he got down from the car, but Abigail ignored him.

"Is the road to your house so damaged that I can't go with my car?" Enoch asked playfully.

"Your car? Did you ever told me it was yours? I want you to keep being the Mr Damtis that I met, the one who hides his identity. At least till we leave my parents's house." She replied sarcastically.

Enoch signaled Gideon and in less than a minute, a cab pulled up in front of them. "The Mr Damtis you met will never let you walk for long, much less under this scotching sun." Enoch said and they laughed as they entered the cab, which took them to Abigail's house after a few minutes drive.

The two men got out of the cab and Enoch helped Abigail out of it like a gentleman. Looking at the bungalow in front of them with a green and pink colors, Enoch could tell why Abigail was very respectful and easy going. With just a look, you wouldn't need anymore to tell you it was a Christina house.

From the very entrance of the building, they could hear a slow gospel song playing, and the house seem to be quite than the other houses around it. Slow but surely, they entered the house with Abigail leading the way in. Thankfully, her mother was the first they saw in the house and she looked as if she was expecting them to arrive.

"Come in, have a seat." She said to the three after responding to their greetings.

"Is Elder around?" Abigail asked her mother and she smiled and left to the kitchen, ignoring Abigail's question.

Abigail's breathing heaved as her chest started moving up and down, and her heart tamping faster. Beads of sweat formed on her forehead and she became nervous. Enoch saw her state and knew he was the reason for her fear, maybe she didn't know how to introduce him to her father yet.

"I'll like to excuse myself for a while, I think you want to talk to your parents." Enoch said to Abigail as he stood up, trying to give her some space.

"That won't be necessary my dear. We'll talk When her father get here." Abigail's mother said as she placed a serving tray on the rectangular table, in the middle of the seven seated sofa which was arranged at the three sides of the wall with a TV set at the fourth side.

She served water and snacks to them before getting seated herself. Enoch felt awkward, but he had no choice than to sit beside Abigail and Gideon in the three seated sofa. He allowed his eyes roam the living room and from the doors he found, he could tell the house was of five to six bedrooms, with a kitchen and dining area.

Abigail's family were not rich like that of Enoch's, but they weren't poor either. They could pass as fourth class if it comes to wealth, and first class when it comes to Christianity. Abigail kept thinking, wondering when her mother will drop the bomb as to why she called her home urgently.

"What's your name? And why are you with my daughter?" They heard Abigail's mother asking Enoch.

Enoch exchanged looks with Abigail before talking after getting an approving nod from Abigail. "Am Enoch ma'am, I escorted your daughter home as a friend ma'am..... " He said, not knowing how to address the woman in front of him.

" Vida, Mame Vida." Abigail's mother replied, not showing her emotions.

" And you? Are you her friend too?" Mame Vida ask, directing her question to Gideon who seem lost in the snacks he was enjoying.

" No ma'am, He's with me." Enoch answered in his stead, showing no signs of fear or nervousness.

Just when he was done talking, the door to the living room was open wide, revealing the cold but handsome face of an old man who seems to be in his early sixty's. His black and gray hair was combed nicely to the back, and his brown eyes did not fail to notice the unknown visitors in his room.

"Who do we have here?" The man asked immediately he entered the living room, Which caused everyone to look at him.

Enoch and Gideon went on their feet on an instant as they respectfully greeted the man in an unison. "Good day sir." They said. The man nodded his head to respond as he took his seat next to Abigail's mother in a single sofa.

"Do I know you? What's your name?" The man asked with an expressionless face.

Enoch and Gideon were used to such expression and had their own way of dealing with it. But on the other hand, Abigail who grow up in the same house with the man, seem to be very nervous, as if she was not used to his behavior or was afraid of something.

"Am Enoch sir, and this is Gideon." Abigail's heart pounded harder as she heard Enoch's voice. She was scared to hear how he would introduce himself.

"Dad, they're my friends and colleagues at work, I asked them to escort me here." Abigail added, trying to skip any other formalities.

" Have your seat." The man said and they did as he asked, before they heard him continue. "Which family are you from?" The cold voice of the man was heard in the room again, sounding like a typical Ghanaian father.

" Am from the Damtis family sir." With a light smirk, Enoch replied as they took their seat.

" The Damtis family? The owners of the Sorphnaf company?" The man asked again, with a clear tone this time.

" Yes sir." Enoch replied simply.

"Am Mr Williams Nyimbo, Abigail's father. What brings you to my house?" He asked calmly this time.

Abigail was beginning to be suspicious, not knowing why her father was acting all kind towards Enoch. " Does he know the Damtis family?" Abigail thought. She kept her head bowed as she listened to their manly conversation.
