CHAPTER 12: FIRST QUARREL III
The Manager, already so scared as at this time, shakily went to bring the footage and a laptop to play it.
As she left, Antonio made sure the duo did not leave and stayed to watch the video till the end.
After watching the video, everyone realized then that Diana was innocent. They saw how Olivia had knowingly walked into her and pushed her, it was clearly and visibly shown on the screen.
Olivia screamed and refused to accept the result of the footage saying the Manager must have tampered with it somehow.
The Manager who was scared earlier shifted all her fear and anger to Olivia. She cussed, ''you stupid woman, you really were not trained at all by your parents it just became clear to me. How dare you frame an innocent woman and try to implicate me are you mad or just plain stupid?"
Just like that the tables turned. "I am calling the police right now if you don't pay up. You will also pay for damages, the gifts they are taking and for causing an innocent person grievance".
''What! That's extortion, Olivia cried out".
"Extortion my arse", the Manager retorted.
She turned to one of her girls, ''package the gift they want and give it to them with a very expensive chain bangle to top up for damages and as a personal apology from me also''. The girl nodded and went to do as she was instructed.
She turned to another one of her girls and asked her to call the police. She turned her attention back to Diana and Antonio and bowed slightly, "I'm so sorry for earlier Ma'am, you can take your things and leave now. You owe us nothing".
Diana thought to herself this woman may not be stupid and wicked as she had thought earlier, infact, she was quite sensible.
Olivia shook her head and cried bitterly at the amount of money that was going to leave her purse. It was too late to regret now, if she had known she would have just respected herself.
Olivia turned her aggression on her man as Diana and Antonio took their gift, nodded back at the Manager and walked out of the shop.
Immediately they came out of the shop and stood under the light drizzle, Diana heaved a sigh of relief and laughed then she turned to look at Antonio who was a bit far from her.
''If you weren't here, i would have been in big trouble. Thank you so much''.
She took out the boxed bangle and gave it to him. Antonio shook his head and said, ''i can't possibly accept this Ma'am. It was your husband that made me stay beside you and swear with my life to protect you".
Diana's heart filled with sweetness as she heard this but still she did not give up.
''You should still keep it or give it to a girl you like its just for your hardwork''. He finally took it and thanked her, then they got into the car.
"Where to now Ma'am?" Antonio asked. "An engraving shop'' Diana responded, "so they can engrave our names into it; then the market, i want to make dinner for my husband". Diana blushed as she said that last part.
It felt so good on her tongue so she tried saying the word 'husband' a few more times all the while blushing seriously to herself. Antonio only smiled at his Lady Boss childish acts and started the journey.
When they got to the engraving shop, Diana stayed with them till they engraved their initials on the watch then she wrapped it back and headed to the market with Antonio accompanying her. She didn't know what he would like so she decided to make a bit of everything.
They got home around 5 o' clock in the evening. Antonio helped her carry the market stuffs to the kitchen while Diana went upstairs to shower. She changed into tight shorts that accentuated all her curves in the right places and used another baggy polo to cover it to her knees but it still barely concealed her shape in all its glory.
She made her way downstairs looking so sexy and mouth watering. She had knowingly dressed up like this for her husband.
Diana went into the kitchen and dismissed everyone but Nicodemus as usual refused and after much argument with him, she came to a compromise and told them to just stand outside the kitchen and if they saw their boss coming they could head back in.
He agreed and they all stood and watched her as she worked in the kitchen like she had been made for it.
Diana prepared everything herself and made dinner as the maids helped her set the table. The aroma of the food filled the dining, sitting room and everyone's senses.
Nicodemus mouth couldn't help but water at the sumptuous spread laid out before him, 'Madam was really going all out for her husband and he was happy for this'. No one had ever done this for him, not even his mother or grand mother.
After the table was set, Diana said to them; "i left some for you guys too in the kitchen you can have all of it". The maids were so excited that they kowtowed countless times thanking her. Nicodemus also smiled and bowed slightly, thanking her before they all dispersed into the kitchen.
Diana went back into the kitchen to remind them ''don't forget to give Antonio a huge portion, he did very serious work today". They all nodded as she went back to the dining to wait for her husband. While she sat at the table to wait for him, she didn't know when she slept off.
James sat in his office around 10 at night and refused to go home. He had dismissed every other person in the office aside his brother and Secretary.
The two men sat inside his office obviously tired because of their continuous yawnings but they kept working with him regardless.
Occasionally they will both turn to stare at their boss to see any reaction of tiredness from him but they saw none, he still seemed very agile and active. Aside the occasional rustling of papers and breathing, the office was as quiet as a graveyard. It was the ringing of his phone that disturbed the quiet of the room.
James looked at his phone and saw the name he used to save Diana's number; 'Nemesis'. He ignored the call and continued what he was doing. The phone rang again but this time he directly switched it off without thinking twice.
Angelo and Jared both wondered at the same time who it was that their boss was ignoring like this, Jared especially was itching to find out and Angelo recognized that look and gave him his own look to say, "curiosity killed the cat".
Jared scoffed silently as the room quietened down again and everyone returned to their work.
