CHAPTER 14: FIRST QUARREL V
There was a fleeting flicker of emotion across James eyes but it was gone as soon as it appeared.
''Antonio!" James shouted his name from the office.
Antonio came in and James glared at him. Antonio shivered mentally at the glare as he bent his head.
''Take the Mrs back home, and do not let her leave the house again at night".
''No!", Diana shouted and ran away from the door and further into the office before Antonio could grab her.
Jared laughed, but when he saw his brother's warning glare he kept quiet and thought to himself. 'This sister-in-law of his was actually quite interesting, who knew she could be this stubborn and go against his brother'.
''Diana'', James called a little impatiently. ''Don't be stubborn and go with Antonio right now''.
''I said no James, i'm not leaving here without you coming with me". Diana's voice was firmer.
Both Angelo and Jared blinked at her tone of voice at the same time, they were both surprised. Jared thought, aside their Father, no one had dared to talk to James like that.
James cocked an eyebrow and looked at her, also seemingly surprised.
''I went through a lot today to do all this for you" Diana continued, "can you not let it go to waste mhm?"
Was this her idea of begging James thought, begging and forcing him at the same time. She was really something. But no matter what, he couldn't let some woman control him otherwise he will no longer be the person whom people feared and revered.
Jared was happy at the new turn of events, he so wanted to see how this situation plays out. A woman talking back at his brother and going scot free.
James looked at Antonio and said ''Antonio, if i tell you one more time about sending the Madam home, you keeping your job will be the least of your worries".
Diana spoke almost immediately. "If you do this James, i will not want to be your friend again and this marriage we are trying to build will be very miserable".
James scoffed and smirked as he thought, was she threatening him?
Annoyed and having had enough, he stood up and flung her over his shoulders as if she weighed nothing and walked out of the office.
Diana didn't shout or scream when he carried her, like other women would when they were carried. She just stayed still obediently and didn't even move at all.
Jared smiled and walked out behind them with his things while Angelo grabbed his boss's stuffs and shut the office walking out behind the rest. Antonio followed last.
The small group got into his private elevator as the elevator went down all the way to the last floor. No one had said anything until now.
When they got outside, the night breeze was blowing a little cold. Angelo handed his boss's things over to Antonio while he went to bring his car around.
James set Diana down and just coldly stared at her seemingly unable to believe the woman's guts. Diana looked into those eyes that could freeze someone over and bent her head.
"What!" James started immediately he saw her bend her head. "Are you suddenly scared of looking at me now? Look at me Diana", James commanded.
Diana shivered slightly as she raised her head to look at him. The shiver did not escape James intense gaze, and he could also see fear on her face.
James grabbed his suit jacket that was with Antonio and put it around her. He folded his arms and stared down at her. "This is the last time you pull this kind of stunt. The next time you try it i will personally send you packing".
That was Diana's worst fear but she did not cower. She chose not to respond to him. James grabbed her shoulders suddenly and shook her hard. "Do you hear me Diana", he shouted this time having exhausted his last bit of patience on her.
Diana felt the tears that had been burning her eyelid since she entered his office come pouring out again. Jared's heart went out to this his sweet and lovely sister-in-law.
James felt guilty when he saw the tears she had been trying to hold back drip down furiously and continously from her eyes. Ok, this was it. He was so mad that he walked towards the door of the car Antonio came with and kicked it with all the pent up emotions in his heart since morning, everyone heard a crunching sound as the car shrunk inside and created a very deep hole.
Diana shuddered in fear and took a step back from him with a gasp. James laughed shrewdly to himself when he saw her reaction. What he did not want her to see, she had finally seen it and run scared from him.
He turned to look at her, "are you finally scared of me now, i could do this to you at anytime so stay the f**k away from me he said in a low and dangerous tone".
Angelo appeared then with the car, he got down and saw the mess his Boss made on the passenger seat of the car Antonio brought. He shook his head and shivered.
Jared gave an exasperated sigh as he looked at the pained expression on his brother. He was the only one who knew him best right from when they were little and he saw what his brother could do, he was the only one, with few of his friends that stuck and stayed by his side.
Their other mates that had found out had called him a freak and a monster, so he grew up with that and made himself strong and unreachable even to their Father. Everything he had, he built single handedly with his sweat and blood hence, why he respected him so much.
Diana did not understand but merely looking at this man she called her husband she felt there was a lot more pain from where he was coming from.
She could tell all that by looking at the expression on his face. She knew he was not evil otherwise he wouldn't have covered her when he noticed her slight shiver that others did not notice.
Diana walked up to him before he could say anything more and asked, ''is your foot okay, if it isn't i will help you massage it at home okay just please don't be angry anymore" Diana said sniffing from her previous cries "You know i can really give a good massage".
Everyone including Angelo who had noticed this scene looked at her as if she had gone crazy. Jared smiled inwardly, 'this little sister-in-law of his was really fearless'.
''I'm not scared of you, okay?" Diana continued she pointed her chin towards the hole in the car. "Is that all you can show me hmm? If that's it then okay, i don't care".
James raised an eyebrow at her. ''Diana you think this is a joke?"
Diana looked at him and smiled ''nope. I think you are a joke, putting on this little show and thinking i will be scared of you". She raised her chin and looked at him defiantly.
James thought to himself, no this won't do. He needed to be even more ruthless with her so she will realize that he was not to be trifled with. Infact her confession just now made him feel worse but he will just let it go for now.
The three men after listening to her confession thought the same thing "to laugh". But Jared's thoughts were worse, if not for one thing he would have rolled on the floor and laughed harder than any of them.
James quietly walked towards the Bentley and opened the car door for her. ''Get in,'' he commanded gently.
She walked to the car and stood turning back again. "Can your brother and Angelo come with us too, they look tired and hungry and you won't be able to finish the food either".
Jared eyes lit up upon hearing this, 'wasn't this sister-in-law just an angel he thought to himself'. James rolled his eyes at her but did not respond.
Diana said, "i will take your silence as an admission then, 'yay!" She raised her hands in a fist towards the air.
"Thanks little sister-in-law'', Jared said grinning at Diana.
Diana smirked at him and whined, ''am not little, you just look a year older than i am''.
Jared nodded and said shamelessly ''of course! of course!!, My big sister-in-law".
Angelo and Antonio both looked at him and shook their head in unison, 'shameless', 'they both thought at the same time'.
James got in after she finally entered. His brother entered the passenger seat while Angelo entered the driver's seat. Antonio drove the condemned car home behind them.
