'You did the right thing,' I tell myself over and over as I watch my siblings' receding backs. My eyes sting but I can't let myself cry. When Will wraps his arms around me, I nearly break down.
I've managed to keep it together when Esteban returns, glaring at me like I committed some unforgivable crime.
"What?" I glare back at him.
He takes Tiana from Will while maintaining his glare. "You would never guess it but Elena made it into a top school of Performing Arts. Rico is…"
"I get it, Esteban." I cut him off. I don't need a reminder. "I did it to protect them."
"Sure."
Will pulls me behind him as if I need protection from his best friend. "I heard Sasha say she's been having trouble sleeping lately. Are you sure you don't want to check on her, maybe prescribe a sleeping pill?"
Esteban frowns at me but leaves right after stuffing the whiny Tiana into Will's arms.
