lt was a fine, beautiful evening. The sun-kissed the massive building goodbye. Orange sun rays sparkled on glass walls, making it to look more captivating. University students were preparing to go home since classes were over.
Students who were approaching their graduation were over the moon, while the ones who joined a few days ago felt like running away, especially those who were there against their will. They felt like their freedom was being restricted, like university was a living hell for them.
Samantha was happy to finish her university education because it meant the world to her, she only had one week to her graduation. It was like a dream come true, she kept on dreaming about the day She'll leave university and start her new life out there.
She can't wait to wear a doctor's outfit and take care of patients. She has the main reason which pushed her to become a doctor though she didn't like the idea.
She decided to choose her family over her dreams, she couldn't let her younger brother Skylar die of that deadly disease. She recalled the day his brother was born, everyone in their family was so happy to have a new member.
Samantha was happy to find a sibling and someone to play with, she recalled holding his tiny hands and carrying him on her laps.
Samantha had just finished high school education, his brother suffered from heart disease which required a large amount of money to be treated.
In the beginning, the disease wasn't that severe. That's why Samantha decided to take medicine so that she could be able to take care of her brother's health in future, unfortunately, his health continued deteriorating with each passing day.
Samantha was still lost in her thoughts when Diana Williams and Edward Jones appeared.
" It's time to go home Sam, this place is giving me a hard time."
Diana grumbled placing her hands on her slim waist.
Samantha chuckled upon hearing her friend's unending complaints, Diana doesn't like schooling at all. it's like staying in a prison, she feels like her freedom is restricted, she loves travelling and holding crazy parties, contradicting Sam who loves a quiet and peaceful life.
She always read books back at home to kill time or help her mother with house chores. Sam loves spending time in their small coffee shop because it makes her busy, she likes it when she's helping her mother prepare the sweet coffee.
" You've to stop it already, it's only one week Diana." Samantha raised her eyebrows at her, a teasing smile creeping on her face.
" Sam is right Diana, can you just calm your nerves down and wait for this one week to pass?." Edward backed up Sam.
Edward comes from a wealthy family like Diana, Sam is the only one who comes from a middle-class family. She's content with her family status because her parents are trying their best to make sure they provide her with everything she needs.
She received a scholarship to study medicine in one of the best universities, Sam was the best student in her school when the final results were out.
" You're right guys, we only have one week but...it seems like months and l can't stand it anymore." Diana raked her already messy hair roughlyand Edward shook his head in disbelief.
" You're talking as if you've been staying here for decades Diana, we know you're dying to throw one of your crazy parties after graduation." Diana rolled her eyes playfully upon hearing Edwards's words.
" You're right, l have to celebrate, it has been hell to be a student. I can't believe l have come this far guys, it's like a dream to me." She closed her eyes slightly, stroking her forehead.
" You're unbelievable Diana, you're talking as if you were detained here against your wish." Samantha shook her head a smirk plastering on her lips.
" Of course it's against my wish, my parents forced me to become a doctor though they knew very well l don't like it." Diana shrugged her shoulders, leaning on the wall.
" You can't blame them, Diana. they were trying to show you the right and bright path. They want the best for you." Samantha reasoned out wisely, she didn't like to see her friend this sad.
" I think Sam is right, you're done with it anyway." Edward smiled softly earning a nod from her.
" Let's go, the cloud is dark outside." Samantha peeked through the window creasing her brows.
" I think it'll rain today, thanks to the heavens l checked weather prediction today before l left the house."
Edward sighed in relief, he carried his umbrella and extra for her friend Samantha.
" Good for you, l think I'll be drenched by the time l step foot inside the house." Sam chuckled lightly.
" Don't worry because I'll drive you home today, you don't have to take a taxi."Edward winked at her.
" Goodbye guys." Diana waved at them before getting inside her expensive car.
" Goodbye, take care of yourself." Sam and Edward waved back at her.
" You don't need to drive me home Edward, l can just take a taxi." Sam tried to protest, the thunder roared and the rain began to fall heavily.
" Let's go, Sam. Save the argument for another day." Edward yelled at her, gripping her wrist without waiting for her answer. Sam didn't utter any word, she followed him obediently.Edwards bodyguards opened the door for them and they entered the car.
" I'll drive." Edward's chauffeur nodded upon hearing his words. Edward is respected by his workers because he's the young master of William's family.
" wait! Wait! wait!."
Sam raised her hands in the air gesturing for Edward to stop for a minute, he looked at her with knitted eyebrows, confusion plastering on his face.
" I'm not ready to die you know, not before l wear a graduation gown." Sam let out a throaty chuckle.
" And who said you're going to die? " Edwards lips curved into a mischievous smile, he was anticipating to get this reaction from this stubborn friend of his.
" I'm not that sure if you know how to drive, just being cautious."
Samantha shrugged her shoulders, her lips twisting into a smile. Sam has never seen Edward drive, that's why she's afraid of his driving skills.
