He saw Orrag's shape perfectly. It registered as a black flaming mass of life force. Just like any other creature, he had seen before. And when he added more qi, the black gaming mass formed an outline of its body.
Perhaps, the only difference between Oragg and the few godbeasts and humans he had analyzed was the lack of proper qi pathways. All that it had were three purple energy points. One on its head, the other on its chest, and the other right where the dantian was supposed to be, a few inches right above its belly button.
Whatever Orrag summoned was definitely something he has never come across. What did the purple flaming mass mean? Was it some form of life force? Just like a flaming black mass? Or was it something else entirely? He didn't know. And he didn't exactly have anyone else that he could tell. Maybe if he asked his Imperial Father? No. He scratched out that option.
His lips quivered. He wanted to ask Orrag what it did. But he shoved his thoughts down his throat. Speaking was pointless. The creature didn't know how to speak Common. His words would be a total waste of time.
Seeing that there was nothing else productive to do, he walked back and found a nice spot on the edge of the pond, dusted off some sand and slimy substance with qi, and sat on it. He crossed his legs and reached behind him. Out of habit, he grabbed the thin air. The familiar feeling of his hot porcelain cup squeezing into his hands never came.
For a few seconds he almost threw a tantrum, but he remembered that he was still in the trials and Elder Cai had no authority to sneak in a cup of tea. His mood soured the moment that realization hit him. Crossing his left leg over the other, he sighed. Was coming here even worth it? Especially if he couldn't drink tea whenever he wanted? How did one even make tea? He knew that the process involved tea leaves. Was he mistaken? Oh. And water. Did one boil the water first? Did you fry the tea leaves? Was that even possible? He needed to ask Elder Cai.
Confusion ran amok within Orrag's mind. Why was the human sitting and letting it complete its ritual? Couldn't the human feel the thrum of power gushing through the place? A shame the human didn't know the true power of the being it was summoning. A few thousand years ago, a few colonies spat in the face of this being. And the next seconds an entire three planets were wiped out in its anger. And everything happened before its very eyes. For the human to believe that obliterating a few commanders was good enough to make the human a top dog in these parts was laughable. Creatures far stronger than it and the being it was summoning roamed around. Did the human think that it was special in any way?
A sudden pulse of pain tore right through Orrag's chest. It gazed down and saw a bright purple hand with black nails sticking out of it. The glowing blue mark it drew on its chest disappeared. The rosiness of its skin faded. And it went limp. The hand moved to the side, flinging Orrag's limp body to the side.
"I apologise for being fairly late. A few godbeasts stole a few minutes of my time in the tunnels. But I'm here now," a purple-skinned man said.
Long Wei raised a brow from where he sat. This one spoke Common? Silver light layered over his eyes. And what he saw still hadn't changed. It was still the flaming purple mass. Back took over his pupils once more. The creature in front of him was no different from a human. Except for a few odd features. One, it had bright purple skin that changed the hue of the cavern a little bit. If it weren't for the silver moon and the glowing pond behind him, he realized that the cavern would have been dyed purple. If the information he gathered from his eyes was correct, then the being in front of him wasn't a godbeast, a human, or one of the creatures he fought before. The being in front of him was something his Heaven Shrouding Eyes couldn't peer through.
"Not as if I was keeping count."
"You are quite the talent in the Myriad Realms. If I'm not mistaken. You absorbed the harmful qi in this place in less than a day with no hassle. And even purified it. Bravo," the purple man said, "Oh. Look at that. I forgot common courtesy. My name, it's fairly simple. In Common it is Violet. But you can call me Frankenstein. You are called Long Wei. If I'm not mistaken? Of course. I have never made a mistake-'
"Why are you speaking so much? You came for a fight. Now lets fight, " Long Wei said.
Frankenstein rolled his eyes. Kids these days were a little too rough around the edges for his taste. He placed a hand around his black tie and tightened it around his neck. Just the way he loved it. For today's excursion, he wore a simple black suit with brown dress shoes. The environment was inappropriate for his current attire, but he didn't care. Even if the assembly of robes of various styles and designs littered the remains of the cavern.
"Battles aren't the only way to solve problems and dilemmas. Learn a thing or two from your father."
"What do you mean? ?" the purple-skinned man confused him.
"I know various things. You'd be surprised. Now where was I. You see. Someone wants you dead. And they spent lots of money to sneak me into here. So. Any Last word's?"
"So you are leaving me dry after that disrespect to the current Crown of the Imperial Expanse? Who gave you the audacity to mention my father's name in such a casual manner? He is the Emperor to you. You Got It?" Long Wei sprung up.
"I'm here to kill you. Not to disrespect you. So hold your panties and relax. I don't know yur father. I hope I don't ever meet that motherfucker in this lifetime. Are you angry yet? You see? You are so easy to rile up. You are making it so eas-"
A black sword tore right through Long Wei's defenses from behind. And he couldn't even sense it. All he felt was the sudden burst of pain that cut right through his chest. Blood spurted out his mouth. He formed qi around his palm and slammed it behind him. He felt nothing. And the sword that struck his heart slid out, disappearing.
"Over here. As I was saying. Your father should consider stepping down. He isn't doing his job well."
Thick veins wrapped around Long Wei's forehead and his eyes were filled to the brim with rage. He couldn't take the sudden rain of insults to the man he admired with all his heart. And that man happened just to be his father.
"Have you asked him whether he fucked your mother to get you? I'm not trying to be a jerk or anything. But Doesn't your father have sunkissed blonde hair? And your mother's hair is bright silver? Just like the moon hanging in the skies? But how come you have deep black hair?"
"Get my parents out your fucking mouth-"
Another blade struck Long Wei. This one pierced his leg. Instantly, he gathered qi to his eyes, dripping them in silver. The world revealed itself to him. He saw the different counters and building blocks that built up the ecosystem they were in. Frankenstein was still a total mystery to him. And he couldn't understand the being at all.
