Chapter 40 - This Young Master Only Lost a Battle of Wits, Not Strength! HMPH!

"Crystal Essence?"

Long Wei's thoughts rushed to that phrase. Within his rushing chaotic thoughts he finally found a lifeline. Was he outsmarted? He went on a journey through his thoughts, remembering his actions throughout the trials the moment he came. The glowing blue liquid was definitely the beginning of his failure in this battle. He wasn't attentive enough.

He didn't lose because he wasn't strong enough. Rather, he wasn't attentive enough. Instead of following the cultivation code, he trusted his environment after a few experiments. He hadn't lost a battle in the same realm, rather he lost a battle of wits.

Color gradually returned to his facial features. The weariness that struck him disappeared. His dragon blood hummer, eradicating the last of the Crystal Essence's influence on him.

"How long have I been unconscious?"

"Only a minute," Frankenstein said, "That Void Dragon-Phoenix Bloodline of yours sure is something."

Long Wei stood up and shook away the disappointment from his visage. His unbridled confidence wrapped around him, engulfing him in the aura of a king.

"Your Crystal Essence as you call it no longer has a hold on me," Long Wei said.

"Maybe you'll understand what I have to say now," said Frankenstein.

"And I should believe you, why?"

Frankenstein gave Long Wei an odd look. Couldn't the kid read between the lines and see for himself the reason to at the very least trust his words? He finished warming his hands and rubbed them together for good measure.

" You'd be dead. But you aren't," said Frankenstein, "Someone wants you eliminated from existence as we speak to ensure her pans workout in the end. I was the hired gun. At least one of the few. But I'm not interested in snuffing out a talent of your calabre when you are much more valuable alive. Get my drift?"

Long Wei wrapped his chin in the crevice between his index and thumb. He didn't see any point in him working with… Frankenstein. He saw no advantages whatsoever. And killing him? That was impossible in its own right. Besting him in battle was completely different from killing him. Regardless of the distance he was away from home, his father only needed a finger to stop anyone from killing him. No one in the world was capable of accomplishing such a feat in existence.

"I decline. I'm not a fool."

"I never said you were. But I won't force you. You may think you are a simple godbeast, but what I saw in you? This Heavenly Dao will not tolerate your presence any longer. I have to go. You'll understand once you go to Little Cosmos. At has all the answers to the questions you have right now.

You and these godbeasts and humans aren't as similar as you think," Frankenstein disappeared into nothingness with a chuckle.

Frankenstein's words left more confusion than Long Wei would have liked. He was beaten and then bamboozled? What was the meaning of this? What did Frankenstein mean when he said that he was different from godbeasts and humans? Or that the Heavenly Dao wouldn't tolerate his presence anymore? Was he not the Proud Son of the Heavens? Gifted with four Supreme Talents? It gave him his talents. He was its literal son! Why would it no longer tolerate him? And what did he mean when he said the Little Cosmos Domain had the answers he sought?

Long Wei stood up and saw no need to engage in a round of pitiful ping pong alone with his thoughts. He needed to find Dong Meirong and get rid of her fast. Before something unexpected happened. The pendants weren't enough to save her from what he was going to do.

Long Wei sent a single pulse of his Saint Level spirit sense throughout the nearby area of a thousand miles. Although his spirit senses at their full power were far stronger and thicker than when he restricted them to the Heavenly Door Realm, he didn't want to tip off existences like Frankenstein any more than their battle already did. With the information Frankenstein shared, he knew that there were a few more restricted Gods roaming the trial grounds hoping to end his life. He couldn't fathom how much more powerful some of the Gods were when compared to Frankenstein. He didn't want to entangle himself further.

He was more likely to get entrapped in their schemes than anything if he engaged them in combat. No one could match his physical strength and cultivation within the Mortal Realms of cultivation. That was a fact. But Gods didn't only become Gods through sheer strength alone. Frankenstein taught him that. The traps they laid out were probably impossible for him to decipher in an instant. And losing a battle took an instant.

He lost once you Frankenstein for failing to anticipate a scheme. He wasn't going to do that again so easily.

Long Wei folded his arms and lightly tapped the ground. Like the true king he was, the air obeyed his commands and lifted him into its cool embrace. With his senses keeping track of anything within a thousand miles, he flew.

From above the trial grounds looked spectacular. Writhing green vines wove into hills and wrapped around the endless forests of trees. Bluebirds cast beautiful shadows across the green below him. The whooshing winds rustled the forest canopies, revealing flocks of scared birds. Some were large and others were as tiny as toothpicks.

Large gigantic scaly creatures leaped from the ground, with their mouths wide open, ready to swallow the Prince whole in one gulp. And a look from Long Wei was all it took to detonate them into blood mist. An action that irritated Long Wei a bit. The luscious green he saw became tainted with droplets of blood every few kilometers.

On the horizon, one of the three suns peeked out. Its brilliant orange rays the landscape in a warm orange hue that sweetened Long Wei's black eyes. He stopped to admire the view. Wisps of Purple Qi from the East towards him. The urge to absorb it gnawed at him. But he chose against it. Its quality was worse than the one he was used to. Instead of aiding his progress, it could become something that hindered it.

As he flew, he started reviewing the technique to absorb the harmful qi he created earlier. He realized that it still had a major flaw. One he wouldn't have thought of if it weren't for the blast of energy Frankenstein used to win against him. The Crystal Essence he used till had Frankenstein's mark. And as long as it did, all qi that entered his Mindscape would enter with Frankenstein's consciousness. For some reason, his Heaven Shrouding Eyes couldn't perceive that bit. Which still made him wonder what type of creature Frankenstein was.

Similarly, he thanked Frankenstein, for showing him that weakness. Now he could use his Void Qi to erase it and start anew. Erasing the mark wasn't difficult once he knew its aura. The thin line of Void Qi from the pond in front of his Heavenly Palace was all that was needed. It sliced through the weakened God imprint with ease.

He sighed in relief. He didn't have a ticking time bomb on him now. Frankenstein wouldn't be a problem to defeat when they battled next without this trump card aiding him. And if others could exploit that flaw, they were out of luck now.

Long Wei didn't hide his Saint Aura anymore. He made certain that he was constantly in his most powerful state. Any and all enemies that sought to battle him would be killed in an instant. He wouldn't waste time with them anymore. Even an ant could kill an elephant if it somehow found its way into its brain. He would only hold back on people below the Heavenly Door Realm…only if he was bored. Maybe people in the Mortal Transcendent Realm? He couldn't fathom a single one of them touching a single thread of his robes.

Yes. He would only hold back on people below the Saint Realm, flattening them with supreme power would be a total waste of energy and time. Anyone above the Saint Realm, he would flatten in a single exchange without mercy.

A gathering of powerful auras to the far left caught his attention. He focused on his spirit sense and thickened it to gain a much clearer picture. He felt at least a thousand Mortal Transcendent Auras and a few Heavenly Door experts. What shocked though, was the presence of at least a hundred Saint Level Experts. Something wasn't right with that. He clearly remembered that there were only a few Saint Level Experts amongst the participants of this trial. If his memory wasn't too shabby, there should have been at least forty or so from the Transcendent factions. He only fit ten auras that belonged to those factions and clans. Where did the other Ninety Come from?

The Spectral Haven Sect also had a few other talents participate. He dug deep into his mind to see if he could connect any of the auras to those of the Saint Level disciples of the Spectral Haven Sect. He found five that he recognized. So still. Where did the other eighty-five Saint Realm Experts come from? Let alone the thousand Mortal Transcendents?
