After making several plans for several possible actions that the golem may take, Kane observed the creature for three hours before attacking again. He wanted to see the monster doing something that might give him a clue as to how to attack, but the damn thing didn't move a single inch… it looked like an actual statue. It looked like a guard whose sole job was to test the monsters of that floor... try them to see if they had enough power to survive on the upper floor.
"It is just a mass of dirt… it is strong, but it can't be smart. Considering that, the things it could do should be extremely limited."
Kane didn't know if he should use that knowledge as a reference, but in fantasy stories, golems were just like that, powerful and sturdy but dumb as hell. Those creatures could be killed quite easily without someone to control them, but their automatic behavior was also a weapon. A creature that couldn't feel pain and never would run away was fearsome, after all. Then again, it was the first time he faced an enemy like that, so that experience would be quite valuable to his future.
After preparing himself mentally, Kane fired a single Water Ball toward the golem. Since he was concentrated, his magic projectile ended up hitting the core of the golem, and that made the creature tremble… as expected, that was really the weak spot of that monster. However, Kane didn't let that single hit get on his head. In the blink of an eye, the golem became a pile of sand and then reappeared behind Kane, but that was something he had been waiting for. Kane activated Dash and moved backward to dodge the golem's arms. The creature's attack landed on the ground and made the area around it tremble.
"That will, without a doubt, kill me if I get hit…"
While the golem was recovering from the attack, Kane deactivated Dash. Then he fired Water Balls toward the core of the creature. With every single hit, the monster trembled a bit more than before, probably because Kane was firing at point-blank range, and he wouldn't miss five meters away from the beast.
Five seconds later, the brown body of the golem was a bit darker, thanks to the water. However, Kane couldn't see a single crack on the core. As expected, his magic attacks weren't nearly enough.
(Congratulations! You leveled up. You received one reincarnation point.")
Not everything was bad news. Even though he didn't cause as much damage as he wanted, Kane leveled up again, and without wasting time, he allocated those points to strength. He would need that since only speed wouldn't damage the golem's core.
After the golem recovered from the attacks, the creature pointed both arms toward Kane. He recognized that stance and was forced to move backward several meters because several earth bullets were fired toward him. It was dangerous, but Kane decided to make a bet… he turned around and began to run toward the staircase. As expected, the earth bullets almost hit him, but since the golem wasn't that smart, his projectiles only hit Kane's footprints. Kane could move as fast as the earth's bullets, so he would never get shot as long as he kept running.
However, also as expected, the golem stopped firing the earth bullets and suddenly appeared in front of Kane… that was what he had been waiting for. Without a hint of hesitation, he threw himself toward the golem's core. His head hit against it, and thanks to it, he felt his brain shaking, but before that, he made sure that his claws would also hit the core.
Kane heard a crack, the core had been damaged, and the attack even stunned the golem a little bit. Kane had enough time to recover himself and get up… only the see the arms of the golem about to smash him into a pulp. Using his legs and even his arms, Kane moved to the side and escaped the direct hit, but the ground trembling sent a shiver down his spine.
After moving a few steps backward, Kane analyzed the damage he had caused and suffered. He had lost two points of health, and the core that was the size of a human head was semi-broken. At the very least, twenty percent of its area was like that.
"All right… I can do this. Three more of those attacks and the golem will probably die… or at the very least, it will stop moving while it tries to repair itself, and that will be my cue to reach the next floor."
The problem with that strategy was the fact that Kane had to use his head to attack as well, and he would suffer damage, too. If he repeats the same action, he will lose sixty-six percent of his health… with that much of his health, possibly a single earth bullet would kill him. It was a risky plan, but It was the only thing he could do.
The golem raised his arms toward him again, and Kane did the same thing, turned around, and began to run. At the next intersection, Kane was forced to turn to the right because he didn't want to run until the projectiles run of power. However, he found the golem there… it looked like once the creature was damaged, it wouldn't stop until it killed the thing that attacked him. Despite that, Kane had predicted that. So, before the beast could try to smash him, he jumped and slashed both of his claws on the core.
Kane felt the sound of the core cracking a little more, but he didn't cause the same amount of damage because, this time, he didn't use his head. However, he bought enough time to turn around and run again. When Kane was thirty meters away from the staircase, the golem appeared, blocking his path.
"This is getting old really fast… Damn annoying monster."
Despite getting annoyed by it, Kane didn't hesitate to attack the golem again with his claws. The sound of the core cracking made everything really worth the trouble, but eventually, Kane began to feel that his arms were getting numb… he was using all his strength, and he was also hitting something sturdy as hell, after all. However, there was nothing he could do about it… he could only endure the pain until the enemy before he fell, and the path to the next floor was free of troublesome monsters.
