Chapter 16 - Determination

With gritted teeth and clenched hands, he vowed in his heart that one day he was going to shock everyone even though he only was able to cultivate only the first realm of the cultivation path.

If he hadn't died in that tomb, he would never have known that there was a world of cultivation where money doesn't rule but power and influence. Back in his previous world, nobody cared or noticed you, if you aren't financially stable. His parents died when he was young, he was rejected by his parents' relatives but now it was different.

On Earth, no one believes that there is a world where people cultivate and use magic. They only watch on TV where people practice martial arts and magic but despite this, there was no such thing on earth.

In the cultivation world, power decides everything. He knows about the fact that his clan was being pressured by the other clan to give up control of the Gaoliang District but because his clan was powerful compared to the other, they were able to face the pressure head-on. Weaklings are meant to be used as a stepping stone for the strong.

'Back then on earth, I couldn't accomplish anything to my name but here I will make sure I accomplish a great influence on my name. Making sure my enemies shiver at the mention and thinking of my name….' he immersed himself in his thoughts for some time before directing his gaze at his mother who was still wailing on the floor.

He took a step close to her and started to console the heartbroken mother.

"Mom, you don't have to pressure and torture yourself with the pain in your heart. You have to be the jovial woman you were always known to be. Or is my presence not able to brighten your mood?" Lu Shang spoke to his mother in a calm voice but his heart was shattered at seeing his mother in such a state.

*Sniff sniff sniff*

Zhang Xiao raised her head, wiping the tears that were freely flowing down her eyes with both hands before looking at the figure of Lu Shang with a forced smile on her face. "D-Don't sa…. Say that my child…. Am more than happy to see you come back to me" She said with gritted teeth, not knowing the right word to use.

Lu Shang smiled at her and then observed the figure of his mother. "Sure? Then stop immersing yourself in the torture of the heart. Take a look at yourself, you have aged gradually and become a monster of yourself. What will the other clan say if they see you in such a state? Think about it, Mom. Or do you want to lose me at a young age?" The countenance of Lu Shang was unsightly with his giving off an uncomfortable feeling, feeling as if his heart was pierced with a sharp knife.

The eyes of Zhang Xiao and Lu Shang locked into each other. Zhang Xiao looked at the worrisome look on his face. She sighed and then stretched her hands forward, holding onto the shoulder of her son.

It took Lu Shang the full day to console his mom who agreed to Lu Shang that she will become the jovial woman that people know her for in the past. Lu Shang made sure that his mom ate properly that day when he heard from Su Qing and Su Yan after that made sure she got a proper bath that refreshed her spirit.

Just today that Lu Shang had awakened from his strange unconscious state, Zhang Xiao was beginning to regain her beauty and youthful self which made her personal maids shocked at the change of things for just a few hours.

The news that Lu Shang had awakened from unconsciousness caused a large uproar and reaction in the clan causing everyone to gossip about Lu Shang. Anywhere you go in the clan, you will either see a crowd of youth or adults talking about the strange state of Lu Shang.

Within the training hall of the Lu Clan. Different voices could be heard all over the training hall.

"I heard that Lu Shang had awakened from his strange unconscious state, this can't be possible."

"I wouldn't believe such rumors until I see him with my own two eyes."

"Those are rumors, they are only making up this for us to believe this trash of news."

"They thinks we can be easily fooled."

"..."

"....."

The young cultivators discussed within themselves, some talked negatively about Lu Shang while few stayed silent without involving themselves in the discussion.

A figure could be seen within the training hall, covering his face with a black hoodie making everyone not able to recognize the person behind the hood. Unknown to the young cultivators that the person that they were gossiping about was presented in front of them covering his identity avoiding to make himself unknown to the people.

Lu Shang observed everyone, he was able to recognize those who talked bad about him, he only smiled and nodded his head before walking out of the training hall.

Right from the start he was here, no one had expected that he was in the training hall until he left unnoticed.

The news also got to the ears of the other clan in the Gaoliang District.

At night, up in the sky were filled with stars. This night was extremely cold and bright compared to the rest of the days.

Inside the Lu Clan, the figure of a young boy could be seen inside one of the rooms.

His eyes were closed and he was seated in a cross-legged manner on the cold ground with his full concentration.

"I hope this will not result in another failure, hopefully I will be able to succeed this time. I will greatly shock those that mock in the clan and they will be helpless to bow their heads to me in the future."

The cold voice of the youth echoed in the room that was covered in total darkness. Determination could be felt in the words of the boy.
