In the small town of Gilbert I attend our local high school. I'm in my senior year and I'm really popular among all the kids but I'm always alone listening to Brantley Gilbert and Colt Ford. I always just want to rush out of school to go muddin and drink some shine.
"Kora!" I heard Kallie yell at me.
"Hey Kallie, what's up?" I said.
"I heard you're having a kick-back/bonfire" She said "Is it true?"
"Kallie where the hell did you hear that?" I asked calmly.
"You told Jake and he told me."
"Well he's lying out his ass, he asked me what I was doing tonight and for the weekend so I told him I'm gonna go muddin then go home and have a bonfire and kick back, god you're so damn naïve sometimes." I said as I walked away pissed off.
Just as I turned around I ran smack dab into someone. They felt oddly like a brick wall. I could tell by the way I was twisted this was gonna be a nasty fall. So I closed my eyes. Just as I was about to hit the floor a hand went around the back of my head. When I opened my eyes to see who ran into me I seen gorgeous green-blue eyes and black hair.
"I'm so sorry mam' I wasn't watching where I was going." He said. He's the new kid I've never seen him before.
"It's all good ya at least grabbed my head." I laughed. "Hey, I noticed you're new, right?"
"Yeah I just moved in with my dad. I lived with my mom in Nashville, Tennessee." He said.
"Well if you want I can show you around." I offered him.
"That would be great. Especially from a beauty like yourself." He winked.
I laughed and showed him to his class. Turns out me and him have the same schedule. Since we had the same classes during our last class I invited him to go muddin with me. He agreed and he told me about his 2014 Dodge Ram 3500 heavy duty truck. It's black and lifted. Then I had a sudden realization.
"Have you been muddin before?" I asked him.
"Yes I have, a lot actually." He laughed.
"Oh my goodness!" I gasped.
"What? What's wrong?" He asked with concern.
"This whole time we've been talkin' and I not one have told ya my name or asked for your name." I said.
"Im' Hunter." He laughed.
"I'm Kora." I giggled.
"Hey, I was wondering if you want to after we get done muddin would ya like to come over and we can have a little bonfire, I got some fireball to." He smiled sweetly and winked.
"Yeah, I was gonna go home and do that anyways," I laughed "gotta get the weekend started right?" I said.
"Hell yeah, give me a high five." he said with his hand up in the air.
After struggling to give him a high five, because I'm so short, we got into our trucks and went to my secret spot. It was supper muddy today so as soon as I pulled up in front of the secret spot I spun out my tires and went straight across. Doing that made mud go all over Hunters windshield. As soon as I was safe on the other side of the mud hole I turned off my truck engine and got into the backseat to change into my rebel flag bikini. Once I got out I noticed Hunter hadn't gone yet. All of a sudden hunter revved his engine and sped across the hole and parked his truck next to mine.
"Well, Hunter lets see if you're a real country boy not some city boy" I said as I picked up a handful of mud. He took off his shirt and I almost died. He had a perfect chest muscles and all.
"If ya must know I have five pairs of extra clothes in the back of my truck." He laughed as he threw his shirt into his back seat.
As soon as he shut his door he gave me that 'I dare you to' look as I threw the mud in my hand at his chiseled chest. Then his look turned into a playful sinister one. I ran to hide behind my truck but he followed me and hit me with the mud right on my leg. All of a sudden I hear hollarin'. I sigh and drop my head into my right hand. Damned uncles can't leave this spot alone for one day.
"Hey little devil" I heard uncle Joe call from a crossed the way "how's my wonderful niece doing?"
I ran over to my uncles while waving Hunter to follow. He laughed and shook his head but followed. We I got over to my uncles truck I got up on the step and held onto the open window so I could see my uncle.
"Can't you crazy country boys stay away for one day?" I laughed.
"Nope not on a Friday night." We all laughed. "but I can see this hole is busy and I can also see that your actually hanging out with someone."
"Well I'll let you use my private muddin hole, the one I go to when I'm in a mood, John just hosed it down yesterday for me." I said. "Oh and tell my dad I'll be home late tonight." I kiss my uncle's cheek "Love ya guys."
"Ok, and we'll be up waiting for ya to get home." He said.
"Alrighty!" I said as I hopped off the truck.
I looked at Hunter smiled sweetly and ran, he ran after me and tackled me playfully. We laughed and when we stopped we looked at each other for what seemed like forever. His eyes just looked straight into my soul and it kinda made me feel tingly inside.
"Well it's getting dark lets clean up and drop your truck off at your house and lets head to my place." He said.
"FIREBALL TIME!" I jumped up and down excitedly.
We went to our trucks and he changed, I just wiped myself down with one of the towels and then set one on my seat. I hopped up into my truck and headed to my house and he followed me. When we got there I parked my truck next to the barn and he parked next to me.
"Hey I need ya to hose me off please?" I asked as I grabbed the hose and handed it to him.
"Yes I will but only cause you're kinda cute." He winked.
"Kinda!" I gasped jokingly.
"Only kinda." He said.
"Put the water over my head please, Talls?"I laughed.
I washed the mud out of my hair and went inside to introduce Hunter to my father. We walked inside and I saw the house was empty. So we went out back and I spotted my dad and uncles next to the bonfire drinking out of their mason jars.
"There's my little country princess." Dad said and narrowed his eyes. "With a boy!"
"Dad this is a new kid in town his name is Hunter and while yall talk I'm gonna go feed my horses I'll be back. And is it ok if I go back to his place?" I asked.
"Ok princess as long as you come home." Dad kissed my forehead.
As I walked to the barn I took in the night air. The fresh smell of grass and dirt and the horses. I love my horses they mean the world to me. Then my mind starts to wonder to Hunter and the fun we had today. As I near the barn something feels off. That's when I start to hear something but I can't make it out. I open the barn door that's when I see what's making the noise.
"Rattle snake!" I shouted by I was too late to react it bit me and I reacted in pain.
Holy crap this hurts the venom was starting to course through my veins. I started to hear footsteps and then I heard my father tell Hunter something. Then I heard uncle Jack and dad talk back and forth and then they lifted me up. My heart was pounding like hell which only made the pain spread. The pain got so bad that I finally passed out.
