Fifteen minutes had past and Travis finally walked in. He had a big flirty smile on his face which I didn't like. I looked around to find Hunter and I finally spotted him on the reclining chair in the corner. I gave him a look of help me and come here. To my surprise he stood up and came over to me and got there just as the nurse did.
"There's my star patient, are ya ready to relax and sleep?" he asked.
"Yeah I ate and got some tea down. It's time to sleep now." I replied laughing awkwardly.
"Kora, what does he mean, 'are you ready to sleep'?" Hunter asked worriedly.
"He's gonna give me a sleeping aide to relax and sleep cause I couldn't while you and dad were gone." I said with a frown on my face. "I just wanna be able to relax because all my muscles hurt."
"I'm sorry Kora I didn't realize it was that bad." He said with a sad face.
"Hey Hunter, smile and go with my dad to go check on my horses. By the time you guys come back they should be able to release me." I said as the nurse administered the sleep aid into my iv.
"ok, well you get some sleep and get some strength and we will be back." He said as he took my hand in his and squeezed it lightly. I smiled at him to let him know it was gonna be ok.
Dad came over to me and kissed me on the head and left hunter looked back at me one last time and smiled at me. After that I fell asleep.
When I woke up again I was at home in my bedroom. I got up and walked into the kitchen. My dad was making breakfast. I looked around and looked out the window and it was beautiful. The sun was shining and the sky was bright blue, birds were singing in their perfect harmony. All I could think though was this was the perfect day to go horseback riding.
"So dad how did I get back here to the house?" I asked.
"Hunter carried you to the car and when we got home he took you to your bed." He said calmly.
"Oh, well hurry up with breakfast I wanna go ridding today." I laughed nervously.
" ok, dang someone is in a hurry." He laughed. "Hunters out there already ridding Pumpkin. I wouldn't let him ride beauty."
"Good cause she would've bucked him off." I mumbled.
"Well, here's your food. Eat up and go ridding the doctor said your leg will just be bruised for a little while but, you should be good to ride." Dad said.
"Wait, why am I not in school?" I asked as I started eating my food.
"The school canceled this whole week. They said someone broke in and vandalized the whole school the repairs will take a week along with the police investigating." Said my father. He seemed to be on edge like he was leaving something out.
I stayed quite and finished my food. Once I was done I pushed my plate away to my father. As I walked outside I could smell the fresh lilies in the wonderful light warm breeze. When I walked into the barn and seen that beauty was tied up outside her stall with her saddle on and pumpkin with the same.
"About time you woke up sleepy head" Hunter laughed as he came out of the tack room "I got beauty all ready for you. She's a sweet horse."
"Yeah until someone else besides me rides her." I said as I looked down.
"I know your dad told me." He said "I'm sorry for your loss."
"Can I talk to you...about the accident?" I asked.
"Yeah, you can talk to me about anything it will always stay between us." He said as he gave me his full attention.
He came over and hugged me. Once he let me go we went out and sat on the bench outside the barn. This would be the first time I ever talked about how I lost my mother.
"Well my mother got Beauty when she was four years old, the people who had her didn't ride her at all. What they didn't tell us was she bucks. I was the first one to ride her. Well she didn't buck me off or anything...but my mom wanted to try her out...beauty bucked her off and she went head first into the side of the barn...but we didn't wanna get rid of beauty." I said just as tears ran down my face. "I just want others to ride beauty too."
"Hey, don't worry it's ok. Maybe we can work with her and see if eventually I can ride her. Start slow give her some time to get trained" He said as he wrapped me in a warm hug.
When he hugged me I started to cry more. Then I heard his heartbeat it was strong, steady, and soothing. Wait, what am I thinking I just met him like three days ago and I'm crying in his arms and I told him about the accident. I don't tell anyone about the accident. I haven't even talked to dad about it since it happened. But none of it matter cause he got me to stop crying and he let me go and I wiped my eyes.
"Now lets go ride ok, it's a wonderful day and there's so much more to see." He said as he smiled.
