"What do you mean you will wait for me in the carriage? You are going to go with me to the dining table and eat your breakfast. You can be angry at him, but not at your food." Xavier proclaimed in a firm voice, grabbing her wrist and taking her to the dining room.
"Sit down," Xavier ordered, pulling the chair for her. Agatha bit her lips, agreeing to it and sat down.
"Eat your food." Xavier pushed the bowl of oatmeal before her, encouraging her to eat.
Agatha remained silent, staring at the food, not even touching the spoon. Xavier saw her being a doll, and he picked up the spoon, trying to feed her.
"Eat!" Xavier forwarded the spoon. For the first time after yesterday, Agatha made eye contact with her. Her tears were like a fiery pit, brimming up with tears.
Xavier swallowed, afraid that he might make her cry again and put the spoon down, not trying to push further. He glanced at his kingsman signaling him to get something for him.
Reginald nodded to his request and went out, and returned with a box. He put it on the table, with Xavier picking it up and gifting Agatha, "Open it."
Agatha was puzzled by it, then looked at the box and then at Xavier. Was he trying to buy her some expensive gift? A jewel or an accessory which says one of the rarest and priciest just for her. Agatha opened the box, and to her amazement, it was neither. Just some strawberries were white, unlike their red counterpart.
"It's strawberries found on the other side. They say it's sweeter than usual. Try it." Xavier excitedly explained.
Agatha remained unhinged, the white flesh didn't seem that acceptable for an answer. It was suspicious to even eat something so bizarre. Either it was some kind of poison or something close to being a poison.
Xavier saw her sceptical face and picked up one and took a bite out of it. Making it clear it had no weird toxin or poison in it. Even though Agatha was sceptical, she decided to take a bite, killing her like this would point all fingers at him.
To her shock, it was quite delicious like he said. Seeing her brightened eyes, Xavier felt relief. At Least she was eating now. He needs to take responsibility for feeding her at least three meals a day. Look at her, all bones and skins, he can't even tell if she had ever eaten a bit… No, she never ate heartily. She took small bites of her and never finished her plate.
"Finish them," Xavier affirmed in a gentle yet firm voice.
Agatha's stomach growled as she finished the first one. Her mouth drooled for more, the hunger that didn't exist before hitting her like a wave. Her face reddened in embarrassment, as her hands grabbed another one of it, and took a bite.
Seeing her eating those strawberries, Xavier was satisfied and ate his own food. Once they both were done, Agatha was first to get up and walk out with Xavier following.
"Order more of those strawberries and pack them for the journey," Xavier instructed Reginald before getting inside the Carriage.
Agatha had already seated, with a book in her hand paying no attention to him. Xavier sat across from her, unsure how to start the conversation.
"Was the strawberries delicious?" Xavier tried to start the talk.
Agatha glanced up at him from her book, and blinked, "Yes, Your Majesty." And went back to reading her book.
Xavier started to shake his legs bored and unsure how to carry out the conversation. The carriage soon started to move. The journey to the castle where every royal went for their honeymoon has become a tradition to go there for the honeymoon. The Castle of Creek Isle.
It said the couple who spent their honeymoon in Creek Isle, soon gets blessed with children and an heir for the throne. The myth became stronger when his predecessor decided to not go to Creek Isle and the marriage ended up in shambles.
King Arthur, his father and the king of Acravia before him was one of the worst kings to ever sit on the throne. As soon as he came to power, he married Sophia, the princess of the neighbouring country. Arthur never committed to being loyal, even as a husband. He kept his mistress around and had unknown numbers of illegitimate children with them yet none with Sophia. Xavier was one of them. Sophia in the end adopted her niece, Roselle. Her father died right before her birth and her birth mother passed away after giving birth to her.
Arthur never minded Sophia, adopting Roselle. Until Roselle grew up to be a beautiful young woman. His lust for women took the better of him, and in the end, he forced him on Roselle. Ashamed and self-hatred for herself, Roselle took her own life.
The news spread like wildfire and the people couldn't accept a monster on the throne. With Roselle's birth family knowing the news and revolt broke out taking Arthur and most of his mistresses and illegitimate children's lives. Xavier was one of the lucky ones to survive and take back the throne. He promised himself to never follow the same step as his father.
"Are you going to be quiet and ignore my presence for the whole journey?" Xavier grabbed the book from her hand and put it away.
If it was before he wouldn't even mind this silence between them but he had nothing but regrets for never taking the step. The wall she put up now was all because he never took the step.
Agatha was bitterly frustrated by him taking the book but she tried to remain composed, "What do you wish to talk about, your majesty?" Agatha responded with a polite smile.
"Stop calling me that, in the first place." Xavier hissed at the word your majesty. It was becoming a nuisance to him.
"What should I call you then? An arse? Or a killer?" Agatha said with a straight face and smiling so innocently.
Xavier laughed at her remark. Was she always that sarcastic? Her taunts were better than silence.
