Chapter 4 - From Hell to Hell

I ducked behind a nearby pillar and peered around the corner. It was a group of Cerberus, the three-headed guard dogs of the underworld. They were sniffing the air, searching for something. I held my breath and tried to make myself as small as possible.

After what felt like an eternity, the Cerberus moved on. I let out a sigh of relief and continued on my way. I could see the portals in the distance now. They were glowing with a soft blue light, beckoning me closer.

As I approached, I saw that there was a lone guard standing watch. It was a gorgon, with snakes for hair and eyes that could turn a person to stone. I knew that I had to be careful. I crept up behind her, my spear at the ready.

Just as I was about to strike, the gorgon turned around and caught me off guard. I stumbled back, but quickly regained my footing. I knew that I had to act fast. I thrust my spear forward, aiming for the gorgon's heart.

To my surprise, the gorgon simply stepped aside and let me pass. I was confused, but I didn't stop to question it. I hurried through the portals and found myself standing in the human world.

I had made it. I had successfully snuck my way through the underworld and into the human world. I knew that my journey was far from over, but I couldn't help but feel a sense of pride at what I had accomplished. I had faced countless dangers and overcome them all.

I found myself in a bustling city unlike anything I had ever seen before. The towering buildings, the noisy machines, and the endless sea of people were overwhelming. It was like stepping into a different world, one that I had never even imagined existed. I clutched my spear tightly, knowing that it would be of little use in this new environment.

As I wandered aimlessly, trying to take in my surroundings, I caught a strange scent in the air that piqued my curiosity. It was unfamiliar but it drew me towards it like a moth to a flame. I followed the scent until I found myself standing in front of a bar called Zum Mynos.

I hesitated before stepping inside, my eyes scanning the room for any signs of danger. The scent of demi-gods was overwhelming, but I couldn't let fear control me. I took a deep breath and pushed the door open, stepping into the dimly lit interior.

The first thing I noticed was the crowd. It was a mixed group of warriors, mercenaries, and other mythical beings, all armed to the teeth. The second thing I noticed was the bartender - a towering cyclops with a scar over his eye.

I took a deep breath and walked up to the bar, trying my best to blend in. The cyclops eyed me suspiciously, but said nothing. I knew that my appearance was unfamiliar to them, and I needed to establish myself quickly.

"Excuse me," I said, "I'm looking for work as a bounty hunter. Do you know of any jobs available?"

The cyclops grunted and scratched his chin. "We could always use another hunter," he said. "But you'll have to prove yourself first. We don't just hire anyone who walks in here."

"I understand," I replied. "What do I need to do?"

The cyclops leaned in closer, his one good eye boring into mine. "There have been reports of Wind Geister rampaging through the city, endangering the lives of innocent humans," he said. "If you can bring them to justice, then we'll consider hiring you."

"I accept your challenge," I said confidently. "But I will need some supplies."

The cyclops nodded and began to gather the items I needed. As he handed them to me, he said, "Be careful. The world of humans is not like the world of the gods. There are dangers here that you cannot even imagine."

I thanked him and set out on my mission. The thought of danger did not frighten me. I had faced many challenges before, and I was determined to survive in this new world.

This was my first step, building up a foundation before I could start my revenge.

As I stepped outside, the bright lights of New York City greeted me. It was a world unlike anything I had ever seen before, with towering buildings and strange machines. I knew that I needed to be careful and avoid drawing attention to myself, but I also knew that time was of the essence.

I ran through the streets, feeling my senses sharpening. I noticed small details that I had missed before and felt the presence of magical beings nearby. I followed my instinct and went down a side street where I felt several wind spirits.

I felt the wind whipping my hair as I drew my flute from its holster at my side. It was an ordinary-looking instrument, but it held a secret - with a flick of my wrist, it could transform into a gleaming spear.

The wind ghosts appeared before me, swirling and twirling through the air. I could feel their icy breath on my face, and I knew I had to act quickly. I raised my flute and gave it a sharp twist, feeling it morph beneath my fingers into a deadly weapon.

With a fierce cry, I charged towards the Wind Ghost, my Speer held high. The creature hissed and swirled around me, its form blurring in the wind. But I didn't let it deter me. I swung my speer with all my might, determined to strike the ghost down.

The Wind Ghost countered with a gust of wind, which knocked me off balance. I stumbled back, barely able to keep my footing. But before the ghost could attack again, I regained my composure and charged back towards it.

As I got closer, the Wind Ghost swooped down towards me, trying to knock me over with its powerful winds. I ducked and dodged, narrowly avoiding its attacks. But the ghost was relentless, and soon it was upon me again.

This time, I decided to use a different tactic. I leaped up into the air, my speer raised high above my head. As I descended towards the ghost, I brought my speer down with all my might.

The blade struck the ghost, slicing through its form. The creature let out a shrill cry and began to swirl around, its winds growing stronger and more chaotic. But I didn't let it stop me. I continued to fight, determined to destroy the creature once and for all.

The Wind Ghost retaliated with a powerful gust of wind, which slammed into me and knocked me to the ground. I groaned in pain as I struggled to get back up, my speer still clutched tightly in my hand.

But the Wind Ghost wasn't finished yet. It swooped down towards me again, ready to strike. This time, I was ready for it. I stood my ground and swung my speer with all my might.

The blade struck the ghost once again, this time with even more force. The creature let out a piercing wail and began to dissipate, its form growing weaker and weaker with each passing moment.

I watched as the Wind Ghost slowly vanished into the wind, its screams echoing in my ears. For a moment, I stood there, catching my breath and trying to process what had just happened. But then, I heard a sound that made my blood run cold.

It was the sound of more Wind Ghosts, gathering in the distance. I knew then that I had to move quickly if I wanted to survive. I took a deep breath and set off towards the sound of the ghosts, my speer at the ready.

The fight with the Wind Ghosts was long and grueling. They came at me from all sides, their winds tearing at my clothes and skin. But I didn't let it stop me. I fought with all my might, determined to destroy them all.

Hours passed, and I grew tired and weary. But I refused to give up. Finally, after what seemed like an eternity, the last Wind Ghost dissipated into the wind. I stood there, panting and covered in sweat, my speer still in my hand.

It was then that I realized how much danger I had been in. The Wind Ghosts were a formidable opponent, and if I hadn't been careful, they could have killed me. But I had prevailed, and I knew that I was stronger for it.
