Chapter 24 - *STUCK IN HIS ROOM!*

Ignoring Lucas, she picked up her spoon and put one of the leaves in her mouth. She had to admit, it was pretty good.

"You are eating it with the wrong utensil" She heard Lucas correct her and she grinned. Picking up the spoon, she took another scoop of leaves and groaned in delight"This is so good."

Lucas decided to overlook her stubbornness and stood up" I need to get some things done, when you are finished here, you are to head back to the room." He instructed and she nodded.

"When are you going to be back?." She asked him curiously.

"I'll be back in a short while." He answered and left by foot.

Lisa stared at his retreating figure before glancing back at the meat he had barely touched.

'Just a bite wouldn't hurt.'

She moved to grab the delicious looking meat and kept her spoon aside.

"Mr spoon, you won't be able to handle this job, let the fork do it okay?" She told the spoon while carrying a fork and knife to replace it. Cutting through the salivating meat, she picked up a slice and ate it happily.

"This is way better than the leaves." She commented and took another bite. After taking that bite she decided to help Lucas finish it up, as the good girl she was.

When she was done she looked at the empty plate and touched her flat tummy" Now that was a meal for a deer." Saying that, she stood up and dabbed her mouth with the napkin, taking her leave from the dining room. Coming out of the dining room, she glanced at both hallways that lead opposite ways and sighed in frustration.

"How the hell did Lucas expect me to find my way back?."

She pursed her lips and tried to discern a difference between them but they looked exactly alike!. Not having another choice, she decided to go with the right hallway on a whim.

Walking through the hall, various doors of the same kind lined up opposite each other. She chose to keep opening each door to hasten the process of finding her room.

'At this rate I'll find my room in the next ten years' She thought to herself, looking at the number of doors that seemed to never end.

Opening yet another door, she was met with the disappointment of not seeing her room. She turned around about to leave the room but paused, sighting a leathered book on the desk. Lisa glanced around the room to see if someone was staying here but saw no belonging of any kind. Curiousity took over her and she went over to the book and flipped it opened. She became more than interested when she saw the title at the beginning.

"The guardian rule book" She read it out loud and flipped the page over. The first page was about who a guardian was and some other boring stuff that she skipped blissfully. She turned page after page until she stopped at the actual rules of a guardian.

"A guardian is to be with their protectee at all times." This was the first rule out of three that were boldly written there and under it she spotted the penalty attached to each one of them. The penalty for the first rule was, the protectee would be exposed to danger thereby condemning the guardian completely.

'Condemning?'

Keeping that one aside she moved to the next rule which said" Guardians are not allowed to speak unnecessary, unless needed."

Well, that one was a little too tight. Did that mean that guardians were mostly quiet?. Looking at the penalty she frowned. The penalty was to revoke the guardian's job.

'How cruel.'

Moving to the next and last rule which said" Guardians are not to form any romantic relationship with their protectee" Lisa's eyes lingered on this last rule. She immediately searched for the penalty and wished she didn't do so.

"The protectee will be brutally beheaded in front of the accused guardian." She stepped back and gasped in horror. So that was why Lucas said that.

'Try not to fall in love with me Lisa.' She remembered when Lucas told her that. She thought he was just been cocky , but who knew it was far worse.

Why was she worried?. She should be happy instead but she couldn't help but feel a slight prick in her heart.

The strangest thing was that this book clearly belonged to Lucas and it was placed in this room, unprotected. She was about to close the book and leave when she heard a voice that froze every cell in her body.

"You have some guts to barge into my room and go through my belongings."

Swirling around, she turned to face Lucas who whore his usual expressionless look.

'How didn't she notice that this room belonged to him?.'

"Y-your room?" She stuttered

"Tell me Lisa, why are you in my room?" He asked her taking a step forward which she took backwards.

"I-i didn't know this was your room" She replied, her eyes darting left and right.

'Of all the times for him to come to his room, why now?.'

"Did you see the book?." He questioned, referring to the book she just opened. Lisa glanced at the book and back at him before nodding.

"Then you should know everything, no?" He took another step forward but Lisa stood still, not wanting to move.

"Don't you think it's unfair?" She finally asked him what weighed her mind and he tilted his head in question.

"Be specific in your questions sweetheart?." He said, like it was the most natural thing to speak.

Lisa's cheek flushed at the name he used to address her, but still somehow managed to snap out of it. "I-I what I mean is that the rules are too strict."

Lucas took yet another step, standing only a single breath away from her. She tried to move another step backwards but felt his arm circle around her waist making her eyes almost pop out.

"What are you doing Lucas!" She almost screamed at him and he gave her a sly smile.

'This was against the rules!'

"I am mearly holding you, do you have a problem?." He blinked his eyes at her and she flared back.

"Of course I have a problem!"
