Jessicas P.O.V.
After eating our meal, Odett climbed into bed with Rain and cuddled into her side. No one says anything, as we all hope that Odett helps Rain wake up by being so close to her. It's a foolish idea. But we are desperate at this point.
"So you know Rain's mother?" King Zion asks Lady Lana, and she nods before sipping from her teacup.
"You know Rain thinks her parents abandoned her at the orphanage in my old pack?" I ask as I look at her. Her eyebrows shoot up, and she looks at me, shock written all over her face.
"No, I didn't know that, But I can promise that wasn't the case." She says while placing her teacup back down on the coffee table. "She was kidnaped when she was three months old."
"Oh, thank the Goddess," I say, and Lady Lana looks at me like I've lost my mind. "It's just that since we were little, Ms.Leana would tell her how much he parents must have hatted her to leave her in a werewolf pack when she was a witch."
"Oh my, is that all? If you wouldn't mind explaining some things, I'd like to update her mother on her daughter's situation without opening old wounds by talking to Rain when she wakes up." She says.
"Okay, she was beaten and whipped constantly, even though she didn't heal as fast as a werewolf would and never did anything wrong. I tried to protect her from them, but she begged me not to get between them again. They called her a mistake, an abomination, all because they couldn't sense her wolf. She has no scent other than smelling like a witch. They said she was cursed and a waste of space. She doesn't even know her birthday, so she and I would celebrate her birthday the week after mine. We may not be blood-related, but she is and always will be my best friend." I said while carefully watching the King and Orian as they growled while listening to me.
"Technically, she was cursed." Lady Lana says, and we all jerk our heads up. With all eyes on her, she continues. "When Rain was taken, a witch placed a spell on her, a curse, that would bind her wolf, placing her wolf in a dormant state and creating a fake bond. If she accepted the bond, it would eventually kill her wolf, and she would never develop her magic. Essentially she would be human. But once the fake bond is severed, she would slowly gain her magic, and her wolf would no longer be dormant. As for her scent, the only one that can scent her out would be her true mate. That is because she is a witch hybrid."
Lady Lanna, Orian, and I instantly look at King Zion as he stares at my sister, my best friend. I slightly regret snapping at him the day she was attacked. Then I think about the bitch that almost killed her and the reasoning behind it, and my blood boils again. Sensing my anger, Orian places his hand on mine, and I instantly calm down.
"What will happen to the person that attacked her?" I ask King Zion.
"It depends on when Rain wakes up and what she decides to do." He says, taking me by surprise. "Ultimately, it will be her choice."
"So, does that mean you will accept her as your Queen?" Orian asks him.
"If she will accept me after all of this." He says, looking depressed and full of doubt. "I'll do anything for her if she can forgive me."
He gets up from his chair and walks over to her bed, gently grabbing her hand in his, the Pain of what he caused evident on his face. Orian pushes one of the chairs to the side of the bed so the King can sit while still holding her hand. At this moment, I am so proud to have such a loving, thoughtful, and loyal mate.
At this point, I decided it was time to lay Odett down in her room for a nap. I walk around the bed to pick her up. I realize that at some point, while we were talking, Rain wrapped her arm around her tightly. As I point it out to Orian and the King quietly, Our hopes are finally starting to lift. I rub Rain's arm, Hoping she will wake up soon, and a tear falls down my cheek.
"It's okay. Mamma will be waking up soon." Odett says, looking up at me. I wipe the tear away and smile at her.
"Did you just call her mamma?" I ask, and she nods her head.
"The lady from the moon told me she's almost ready to wake up and that we would be a family!" She says with a bright smile on her face.
"That's right, sweetie. We'll always be a family." I say as I rub the top of her head, looking into her beautiful emerald green eyes that look so much like Rains.
"Oh, what I wouldn't give to see Rain's eyes open right now," Shina says, and I mentally agree with her.
As we all gather around the bed, I hear Orian and Lady Lana at the end of her bed, discussing that her room is ready and that her luggage is in the room already, and everything they will need for Rain's training when she wakes up.
"I thought you came to examine Rain in her coma," I say.
"Actually, I called the Silver Nyx Coven about coming to help teach Rain to use her magic." He says. Seeing that I'm confused, he decides to elaborate. "I know she wanted to leave and go to New Orleans to get help with her magic. So I decided to bring someone here instead. So I knew she would be safe."
"Thank you." I manage to get out and studdering. I begin to get overwhelmed by everything. Orian notices and comes to my side to comfort me.
Suddenly Odett jumps up and shouts, "Mommy, you're finally awake!" And we all turn to see her beautiful emerald green eyes open with purple rings that seem to glow.
