The play restarted. The yellow team wasted no time and like prime barca, they began carrying the ball forward. One noticeable reason was their 3 midfielders, who linked up play perfectly. They were intelligent players, running into space to create passing options for each other and making quick decisions.
Soon the ball found it's way to the striker who dribbled through the defense.
Isaac held his breath, as he watched the striker shoot at goal. He could rest easy however, as their keeper caught the ball, preventing a goal.
The keeper sent the ball long, and Isaac jumped into the air, before heading the ball to his midfielder. The midfield player, smashed a through pass to Sfiso, hoping to set him on course for goal.
The pass was however intercepted.
Isaac sprinted to the player, blocking the passing lanes into midfield and forcing the defender to clear the ball. The ball soared through the air, like a rocket, and it found itself at Theo, the right wingers feet.
Immediately, a midfielder jumped to him, trying to bodyweight the smaller guy and win back possession.
Theo surpassed expectations however, and stood his ground, not even flinching. The midfielder stuck out his leg, trying to win the ball. Theo placed his foot on the ball and rolled it through the defenders legs.
"Nice!" Isaac shouted."Someone help him! Give him a passing option!"
What Theo did next however, made Isaac realize that he didn't need help. As the opposition defensive mid ran at him, trying to tackle, he responded with a shoulder drop to the left. Then, he placed his right foot on the ball and rolled it toward him, before he twisted his body around. Thereafter, he again pulled the ball back with his left foot, allowing him to escape his man. A perfect roulette. It was fast and skillful, and it did it's job well.
With much space, Theo began to sprint down the right wing, toward the opposition goal.
A player approached him. Theo used the inside of his right foot to stop the ball. The defender stopped with him. He then used his left foot to kick the ball through the defenders legs, before darting around him.
With that, he took out 3 defenders, and opened a gateway to the goalpost.
Isaac slyly pointed behind the unaware defender when he saw Theo look at him, and from Theos eyes, he knew Theo got the message.
Theo pulled his leg back, and the moment he kicked the ball, Isaac immediately began sprinting. The defense caught on late, and they could just helplessly chase his dusty trail.
But Theo placed his hand on his head, he had overpassed the ball. It looked too far for Isaac to reach, and the keeper was already jogging out to get it.
But Isaac kept running.
Like a springboks fleeing a lion, he didn't stop one second. He was aware that if he did, then he'd fail to get the ball.
It was true he had low chance of getting that ball. But there's a difference between "low" and "no".
By madly running he may probably not win the ball, but Isaac was aware of one thing. The only thing he was guranteered if he didn't run, was losing the ball. He couldn't accept that.
The keeper realized something, and began sprinting too, but Isaac was already close to where the ball would land.
The keeper jumped in the air, his hands ready to punch the ball away,or catch it if possible.
Isaac jumped.
Time seemed to slow, every soul within the grounds held their breath as they attentively watched the unfolding scene.
Isaac felt his head meet the ball, sending it past the keeper. Next, he felt the keepers gloves striking his face, sending him falling to the ground.
He landed on his back, and he could feel a stinging pain in his face. Even then, he got up labariously, and looked to see where the ball was.
Nestled within the goal, was the ball in the back of the net.
"Yes!" Isaac got up and shouted as he sprinted to his half, his teammates ran to him, all of them beaming.
"You're bleeding," Sfiso said to him, pointing to his face.
"oh," Issac placed a hand on his face, and it came back with blood. "I didn't notice."
"Sorry man, if I'd passed better, you would not have gotten hurt!" Theo said, who seemed to be genuinely feeling bad.
All of his teammates seemed worried about his injury, Isaac grew annoyed.
"Is a small cut going to kill your mood? We just completed a comeback! Show some energy! Come on!" Isaac shouted, hyping up his team.
"you're right..." Theo mumbled.
"That was a sick goal, by the way!" Their keeper shouted.
The energy came back and the team grew optimistic, as they happily discussed the goal.
Soon they were back in position, and play restarted. The moment the whistle was blown, the ball was kicked into the opposition half. It was then that the perception whistle signaling the end of the game was sounded.
