Chapter 12 - Piece of coconut!

July 1, 2022.

He either seems to be ignorant or indifferent to the loss of his ever-so-useful subordinates that I've been killing over all these years.

Just a few months left until I can finally blow one of his main factories up into smithereens.

I will get my sweet revenge soon enough.

I'll murder him.

If glares could kill, she would be dying for the second time in a row which would be hella inconvenient.

Maybe he had the same name as Ezekiel Wei? There was no way he could be Ezekiel Wei himself right? she asked herself but received no answer. Only his piercing eyes which made her shiver once again.

It didn't take her too long to realize that she had fucked up big time. Gavin's gaze told her enough. He held dread in his sky-blue eyes as he slowly nodded his head in her direction, indicating that their internal fears had finally come true.

For the first time in her life, she was finally face to face with Ezekiel Wei himself.

Haven had imagined this situation many times when she lay awake and wasn't able to sleep at night. Sometimes he had even made his way to her dreams and honestly, that annoyed the hell out of her.

'He probably doesn't even recognize the P in privacy...'

She didn't know whether to be honored that Ezekiel himself had come to get her diary out from her room or scared that he had taken issues related to her as a personal job.

With the same emotionless look on his face, he grabbed her hand and dragged her toward the staircase which suddenly caught her eye. The crowd willingly made way for the pair and nobody seemed to be able to turn the music on once again. Haven winced in pain at the force of his grip and didn't know if she should speak to him in the condition she currently got herself in.

Leading her up the staircase, she thanked the lord that she had decided to wear casual outwear along with sneakers instead of heels. A sprained ankle was the last thing she needed when she was in the perimeter of Ezekiel Wei's presence.

The top floor seemed like a VIP area and she couldn't help but frown when a carousel straight out of an amusement park greeted her eyes. Did this guy have a bipolar personality or what?

He let go of her hand and then started striding toward her like a predator does when it catches its prey. Haven gulped, every sensible or logical thought disbanding from her mind when her back hit the wall and his arm caged her inside with utterly no way of escape.

This was definitely not the way she had expected their first meeting to go.

"You got 10 minutes," he spoke and his voice sent another shiver down her whole body. His tone was calm but the underlying threat underneath it didn't go unnoticed. "Start begging for forgiveness for what you did down there."

She looked up, staring straight into his ashen eyes, and felt every ounce of fear in her body evaporate into thin air. The hatred she had never been able to display publicly was now flashing in her eyes as openly as the sky.

Beg? Forgiveness? That's what he was going to do by the time she was done with him in these upcoming months. The sight of her parent's dead bodies flashed in her eyes and her hands formed into fists in no time.

A scoff escaped her lips. "I kneel to no one."

His lips curved into a cocky smirk and she felt like taking an eraser and rubbing it off of his face. "Oh, you will to me. Unless you want your rotten dead body lying around a sewer for your precious officer to find."

Threats didn't work on her. She raised her head high and challenged, "Do it if you dare. Fine, you want me to pay back? Cash or credit?" she asked and her heart wasted no time in betraying her when he chuckled as if her words had amused the living hell out of him.

She had promised to make this man cry tears of blood and here she was, making him laugh and being his source of entertainment.

"You humiliated me in front of all my guards. What I want isn't money but my respect which I can only get back once I see you begging me to have mercy on you."

That was her limit. She raised her already prepared fist at his face for the second time but this time it didn't land where it was supposed to. He held her fist in his strong hand which covered her small one completely. Pulling her body toward him, Eva gasped out when he threw her against the balcony and her back hit the railing.

He grabbed her wrist in time to stop her from falling down to the ground floor of the club but Haven didn't think she could've shown her gratitude to him in any way possible. He was a bastard through and through!

"You piece of coconut—!"

"The next time you raise your hand on me, I won't be so lenient." the warning in his deep voice made her slam her lips down into a straight line. "Now like a good little kitten, ask for forgiveness and I might find it in myself to give mercy."

"Let. Me. Go," she spoke each syllable word by word, the flames in her chocolate brown orbs incapable of being extinguished.

To her utter and complete shock, his eyes widened as he let go of her wrist and Haven wasted no time in stabling herself by gripping the railing tightly with both her hands.

Did he— Did he just listen to her!?

He looked just as shocked as she was. Probably even more. A little angry too as she glanced into his bewitching pair of smoky eyes which were a perfect indication of how dangerous he was. Distance, her mind kept on reciting in a loop inside her head.

Feeling a little wilder than she usually was, Haven let her lips curve up as she let go of her hold on the railings and let the force of gravity drag her backward toward her doom.

Opening her arms, she let her eyes close on their own and felt her body falling backward. And just as she had expected, she felt a strong arm curve around her waist.

The smile on her face fell and she didn't dare open her eyes as she felt his hot breath on her face and the next second, every single thought in her mind dissipated into nothing but fumes of what they once were.
