Chapter 18 - Advent Of Astral Part 16.5: Historian

He began to read the first of the books. Back when the planet first started to diverge into its two paths. One half would be the Humans willing to cooperate with the animals and live beside them. The other half being tyrannical, not wanting any part with the animals. This thin line of somewhat co-existing with the humans was fragile at best.

Being stated these hybrids had only one animal trait most times, rarely having two. The genetics among these were seemingly random unless it was interspecies breeding. Then the genetics were locked.

Astral would look in wonder to May's ears, and how they were random. "Hey, if it isn't too personal, what do you remember about your parents?" He asked in a kind tone, not wanting to bring up past trauma. He would read about the animal's hierarchy.

"Well, all I remember is a dark place, very little food and having my parents covered in dust and dirt all of the time." She would sit next to him. Resting her back along his. He kept reading. Grabbing the other books and sitting down next to her, she would immediately rest her head on his shoulders.

As he read, the interspecies breeding led to various defects, such as more and more animal traits showing themselves from the normal humans. These defects led to very bad monarchies outside of the humans who would enslave most of these human hybrids that are coherent. Astral would find this as highly interesting as he was seeing that each of the animals he has encountered have been well hearted.

Picking up a new book he would continue to read about how the animals and humans have been having conflict forever. Several uprises would happen however always be crushed. The difference was the power gap between the two was simple. The humans and their slightly magical abilities could just overwhelm the strength of the hybrids. Their magical abilities suppressed by the inbreeding and only a few would ever unlock it again. He would be stuck on the fact that magic is something that exists.

"Oh, you seem so puzzled, well, Astral, remember that a lot of the animals grew up with tales and legends of powerful animal warriors doing extraordinary things." May would speak as he wrapped an arm around her. The universe was shaping to be a bizarre place after all.

He would open the next book. The book with the experiments on the animals. Astral would be weary of how inhumane it is. The details of the fights were one sided. Like the animals should be pitied for what they are. Every one of them were captured. Whichever ones survived, the very few to be the sole defenders for their race, usually becoming test subjects for the humans, Astral found this as disgusting. He hated the idea of such things.

"Does anyone know where this exists? The test sight?" Astral would point on the page as she was soundly asleep. Seemed like the first time in days she as slept as she was out cold. Looking back at the page he wouldn't worry too much about it. Just happy to see someone who could bond with him. He would keep reading as the sun rose through the window. Glaring down at them Astral heard the office doors open. He would pick up May and bolt out the window having all the knowledge he needed.

The shattering glass was enough to trip some alarms. But Astral would glide along with no trouble. He got to the spot on the continent where he thought the animals with powers were. Looking at the facility he was a looming threat as the day slowly grew into fruition. May would look up to him and ask. "Where are we now?"

"We are just outside of the capitol's test camp. We get to free a lot of people before i leave this planet." Astral would smile.

"Wait you are leaving?" She would tug on his jacket. "Why?"

"Well, I have to go home sometime." He would sit down next to her. "But you still have a day with me." Astral's suit would fire to life as he held her hand. "For now though, I will try to save as many people as possible."

He would go to walk away as she held his hand tightly. "Just make sure to not leave this planet without giving it warriors to take down the government." Tears would fill her eyes as she wanted to be the vessel to create these warriors.

Astral's suit would turn invisible to the untrained eye, light bending around him. He would walk straight through the front gates, only two soldiers were keeping guard. He found this as a severe flaw. These warriors were powerful and yet so little was put into its defense.

Astral would start to map out the facility through his findings he would see that this wasn't just a place to experiment, it was a place to torture, make a work camp and strip the souls from them. Astral would observe the test tubes as they had the people float like icebergs. He was too late, none of them had any soul left in them. Heading to the center of the facility he found out what it was.

"A storage place for all of the souls, for what use?" Astral would look a little closer as the four guards of the facility filled the room. Aiming their rifles at Astral.

"Sir stand down! Drop to the ground or we will fire!" One guard would shout. Astral would turn around and start to do some calculations in his head on where he would need to be in order to escape.

"Men, open fire!" One of the other guards would shout as Astral's wings shown themselves. He would charge at them and with a flash of light he would vanish. The guards would look around for him confused.

Astral would be far outside the facility as he glided to the ground nice and softly. Landing next to May he would smile as his armor faded. "That place is terrible. It strips the souls of people." He would be embraced by May. Who would lay a finger on his mouth to make him stop talking.

"Now its your turn to save this world forever, follow me." May would take his hand and lead him to somewhere secluded. A secret little shack somewhere out in the middle of the woods. The two would spend the night together and Astral would leave for home, however our bunny girl had something special before he left.

Years and years later on this planet. May would pass away, leaving behind two kids. These two kids were the face of the next wave for the animal uprising. The two of them would act like vigilantes before being cornered one night, before being rescued by a flash of light.
