Chapter 39 - Heavy Reaction

In a particular condominium deep within downtown, a bloodied girl was riding an elevator while barely maintaining her consciousness. The elevator hymn echoed throughout her ears as the elevator door slowly opened unveiling a penthouse.

The bloodied girl stepped forward and stood in front of the door, ringing the doorbell before her. She glances at the camera on the door and held her bag tightly. Tears escaped from her eyes as a voice left the speaker beside the door.

"Sandra, what happened!" The door immediately opened as an old woman with luxurious accessories stormed out from the penthouse. She started checking every part of Sandra's body to see bruises shrouding her skin.

Horror was on the old lady's face as to what kind of monster could have done such a thing to her lovely and beautiful daughter. She carefully dragged her daughter inside and called for a doctor to check on her little girl.

Sitting on the couch, Sandra kept silently weeping. She wanted to stop herself from such humiliation but couldn't. It was too traumatizing for a young girl like her to be beaten to a pulp.

"Tell me! Who did this to you!? Who dared to do this to you!?" The old lady questioned with anger while Sandra was barely holding her calm. The old lady could only watch helplessly before calling for her husband to return home.

A couple of minutes later, the doorbell rang. Doctors had finally arrived along with a medical staff. They swiftly entered the penthouse and arrived at the living room. Without any delay, the medical staff started checking for any injuries on Sandra's body.

One of the doctors explained the possible condition of Sandra, who kept weeping in distress. It wasn't hard to notice but Sandra was in an emotional breakdown. It was through intense fear and trauma that particularly worsened her mental state.

"We have confirmed that she has a trauma on her head along with a fracture on her nose. Her chin also appeared to be cracked and it would be possible for swelling to emerge afterward. Her abdomen also seemed bruised with some couple of scrapes."

"I'm not an officer of some sort, but she's likely to have been assaulted. Your daughter was also traumatized and emotionally distraught. I suggest to take her to the hospital for recovery."

The doctor gave a suggestion on what the old lady should do for her daughter. The worried old lady's expression quickly changed and immediately rejected the doctor's suggestion.

"No! She must not go to the hospital. The media will cause some unwanted trouble if they ever hear the chairman's daughter being assaulted. It would be harmful to the company's image."

Hearing the words of the old lady, the doctor could only sigh to himself. Wealthy families have a different mentality than normal ones. In his line of work, it was easy to see where a family set their priorities in this harsh world.

"Do what you want. I have already given you my suggestion. It would also be better to talk to your husband about her current status. I will be waiting for a call in the hospital. Until then, I hope that you'll take care of her." The doctor calmly uttered and signaled the others to leave the penthouse.

After the doctors and medical staff left, the doctor walked towards the door before turning back to the old lady. "We have already administered first-aid for the young lady. But I implore you that the hospital should be where she must rest."

The old lady was still hesitant as the doctor left the penthouse with the others. She glanced at her daughter who was slumbering on the bed, unmoving. There were still trails of blood on Sandra's face, causing a whirling anger to shroud the old lady's heart.

"Whoever dared to do this to my beloved Sandra... I'll make you pay." The old lady clenched her fist with hatred in her eyes. She took out a phone and started hiring some private investigators to start gathering information about the bastard.

As the old lady talked to some private investigator, an old man entered the penthouse. He wore a luxurious suit with a golden watch on his wrist. The old man had a stern expression on his face while heading toward the unconscious Sandra.

"What happened?" The old man calmly questioned though he was barely containing his anger. The old lady concluded her call with the private investigators and had already prompted them to start gathering information immediately.

Afterward, She glances at her husband and responds. "According to the doctors, she had been assaulted and got injured. They are suggesting for her to be in a hospital to not worsen her condition."

The old man raised an eyebrow after hearing the words of his wife. He silently stood in front of Sandra, who was in deep slumber. A minute later, a frown emerged on his face. He gazes at his wife and responds.

"No need to bring her to the hospital. Let's hire the doctors instead and have them bring some medical equipment here. I'm sure that you already know what to do." The old man left and went back to his room.

The old lady simply glanced at his back and started calling for private doctors along with some medical equipment. They would be extremely expensive. But money wasn't a problem for their family at this point.

They had a reputation to uphold and protect. Such a scandal must not be heard by the public or the company's executives. It would be problematic for their family, and it might cause them to lose money.

'But I am not planning on giving up.'

'I must catch that bastard and kill him myself!'

The old lady thought with hatred causing her breathing to become heavy. She left the room where Sandra dwelled and returned to the living room. This was the start of a feud between her family and the perpetrator of the assault.

There was no forgiveness in her heart, only revenge.

Though, never did she know, that this was merely the beginning of their downfall. The inevitable collapse of their family.

Meanwhile, under the cover of the silent night shrouded in pitch black. A shadowy figure swiftly leaped from one building to the other while being basked in darkness. The figure wore a demon mask that resembled a fox and had a dark cloak surrounding its body.

The figure examined the surroundings as if it were searching for prey. And it did was searching for something. Specifically, a lone group of humans that it could target under the lustrous moonlight.

Within a small and dark alleyway was a group of thugs smoking some problematic substances. They had knives all over their pockets and scars were found throughout their face. The group of thugs was known as the Stricker Gang.

They accepted odd jobs whether it may be legal or illegal as long as one could pay them money. The gang had arrived in the district after hearing of its development plan, seeking to build a foundation for themselves and a place they could consider home.

But unfortunately for them. They had become a target of a mysterious force. A force that would change the underworld of the district and conquer it.

"No one has been hiring us these past few days. Without any money, we'll have to resort to crimes all over again without some compensation." A buff man wearing a tank top. He had blonde hair and noticeably thick muscles that were taking a form on his clothing.

He had a cigarette in his mouth while complaining about the lack of opportunity in this district. They strived on chaos and conflict which gave them business. However, despite the increase in gangs, the district appeared to be relatively peaceful.

"Don't worry about it, big boss. Sooner or later, a fire will start."

"Kekeke, It only needs an ignition to cause some flickering." A skinny old man remarked and wickedly chuckled as if a plan had already formed in his mind. But the buff man knew more than to trust the snake.

"Boros, I suggest you not cause some stir in this district. We can just leave and find some other place." The boss, who was known to many as Abraham, warned the skinny old man Boros to not cause some trouble.

The boss calmly warned the skinny old man, or Boros, to avoid any unnecessary trouble in the district. They could simply leave if there was no opportunity in this place. There was no need for them to create some unwanted problem.

"Tsk, Boss... You are becoming too soft. Other gangs have grown, but what happened to us?" Boros clicked his tongue in annoyance while remarking to the boss. The boss frowned as he noticed that some members had started surrounding him.

"What are you trying to do, Boros?" The boss softly questioned as if unbothered by the peculiar situation. The respectful demeanor of Boros soon faded and was replaced by the coldness of a serpent. "It's time, Abraham."

"The gang needs a new leader."

"So you're starting a coup, eh? When did you start, old hermit." Abraham questioned and noticed that over half of his members had already sided with Boros. He was somewhat disappointed by them, but no anger escaped his heart.

"It doesn't matter when it started, Abraham. Your way of ruling over the gang is inefficient. Other gangs have already grown to have their own districts, while we acted like thugs who are in exile." Boros expressed with determination and anger, causing the members of the gang to be moved.

Abraham was about to respond, but before he could do so. A soft voice sounded out from behind him. This made Abraham raise an eyebrow as he glanced back only to see a shadowy figure with a demon fox mask standing beside his men.

"Hahaha, interesting..."
