Chapter 27 - 26 - Behind the Scenes

The business district of Flora City was filled with busy people going about their day, along a high end expensive street was all sorts of VIP stores, hotels and cafe's.

Each one of these business is only for people who have not only wealth but also influence.

And currently on the top floor of the Bronze Pavilion in a VIP room was a large group of people who were relaxing.

Chang Heng was sitting amongst them in the middle drinking some alcohol while a girl in revealing clothing was leaning on him while showing off her 'assets'.

The rest of his friends also were getting their own attention from other girls as well.

Everyone of Chang Heng's friends either came from a wealthy background or had a rare class.

On top of that they all were Chang Heng's lackeys who did anything to please him.

But their fun atmosphere was broken as the sound of a phone ringing echoed interrupting the sound of music and laughing.

Everyone looked over to the source of the sound, the owner of the phone went red in embarrassment.

He hurriedly pulled out his phone before answering it.

"What is it!? Didn't I tell you not to disturb me." He angrily spoke to the person on the other end of the call.

"I don't care why you called me. Huh? What do you mean.... Ok send it too me and if your information is correct then you'll be rewarded." At first his anger was written all over his face but soon his face froze and changed to one of interest.

After hanging up the phone he got up and went over to Chang Heng.

"What is it Leon?" Chang Heng asked seeing him come over , Chang Heng was already annoyed from Leon's phone call interrupting his fun but now he did it again.

Unfortunately he couldn't do anything to Leon as if he did the Chang family would lose the friendship of Leon's family which will affect his father's future plans of expanding the Guild.

So he could only bare with it for now and put on a friendly smile as he spoke to Leon.

"Well Brother Chang I just got some interesting news." Leon said with a wide smile.

"Oh? What is it?" Chang Heng said as he brought his attention away from the gorgeous blonde girl in his arms.

"One of my guys immediately called me after he got back in the city, apparently he believes he has found a duo who he doesn't recognize that are using a Reset Artifact." Leon said as he sat down opposite Chang Heng.

"So your saying that there is a group of two who might have gotten excellent rewards from the Trial?" Chang Heng asked in interest.

"Yes according to him that is the case." Leon nodded his head in agreement as a wide smile appeared on his face.

"So if we Get in contact with them first then we can take their prize without any issues." Leon said as a waitress came over and gave him a cocktail.

"Now why would we do that?" Chang Heng said as the same waitress served him a whiskey.

"Huh?" Leon's face froze not understanding what Chang Heng meant.

"Now why would I waste any money on taking what is rightfully mine?" Chang Heng spoke as he sipped his drink before gesturing to one of the other members of his group.

"Contact my connections at the Adventures Guild, tell them I have something for them to do for me." Chang Heng smiled as he leaned back and finished his drink in one go....

"Finally done! I can't wait to finally lay down on my sweat sweat bed." Michael said as he stretched his arms with a happy smile on tired his face.

"Well we can't go home just yet." Victor said as he repositioned his backpack on his back.

"Huh? Oh are we getting takeout? ah that would be nice, we should get pizza." Michael's mouth was suddenly full of saliva as he thought about all the different types of pizza he could get.

"Well we can get pizza but that isn't what we need to do." Victor replied as he started to walk away in the direction of the City's entrance.

"Ok then, what's more important than food?" Michael asked catching up.

"We have to sell our loot, of course." Victor said as if it was a matter of course.

Michael nodded his head in agreement but then for some reason he got the idea that because they were about to make some money they should got to out to eat at an expensive restaurant.

"Then we should celebrate by going to one of those fancy places, oh we can also invite Granny Lola out as well." Michael then started to list of all different types of food that he wanted to eat.

"Is all you think about food?" Victor couldn't help but ask with slight annoyance on his face.

As they both walked through the different groups of people selling things, they didn't notice that there was a group of eyes watching them leave.

Victor and Michael made their way through the forest killing any monsters that got in their way.

But it wasn't too long before Victor suddenly stopped with Michael.

Looking around their surroundings, Michael spoke as he placed his right hand on his sword handle.

"You can come out, we know you've been following us." Michael's smiling face completely disappeared as it was replaced with a serious one.

His eyes narrowed as his left arm with his shield grabbed a throwing knife hoisted on his left leg.

Before hiding it behind his shield, ready to use it at a moments notice as he held the blade in-between two of his fingers.

Victor on the other hand didn't move or summon anything instead he stood in a relaxed stance as he looked around.

Hearing that they've been caught a group of 12 came out of their hiding places and surrounded Victor and Michael.

"Look at what we have here." A female voice that both Victor and Michael recognized came from their roght.

It was the female student from 2nd high along with the rest of her group of 2nd High students.

"Wow, Would you look at that! Look at all their loot, how long did it take you two to fill your backpacks?" Their leader stood in front of Victor and Michael as his eyes flashed with greed.

Even after they split up into two groups and killed all Monster they came across they only got enough loot to fill a single backpack.

So seeing that just a group of two was doing double the work that a group of 12 could, just made him mad. But thinking that all of it was about to be his, greed quickly took over his mind.

"Hey we're all students here, so why don't we help each other out and trade some stuff." He said with a friendly face, however his greedy eyes never left Victor and Michael's backpacks.

"Nah, we're good, we'll just be on our way." Michael didn't become nervous at all even when surrounded by 12 people.

If it was another group of students then they would have become nervous and frightened when they saw there was 12 potential enemies.

But Michael knew that these students wouldn't actually dare break the law. Stealing is against the law, now stealing kills and the dropped loot is but you can get around it with certain excuses.

But you'll still ruin your reputation and you'll come under watch by the law.

So at the end of the day these students might try to steal from them via threatening but never through force.

"Tsk, Why are you not willing? We can help each other out." The leader still didn't give up as he took a step forwards along with his group.

"No we're good." This time Victor spoke before he started to calmly walk forwards with Michael.

But he stopped when he was next to the group leader.

"Some advice to you, when you are payed to do shady stuff make sure you know why and who is paying you but most importantly who your payed to mess with." Victor gave his honest advice before he continued to leave.

This caused their leader to grind his teeth.

"B-Boss are we just going to let them..." He was interrupted by his leader.

"Of course you morons, I'm not stupid enough to ruin my future for some cash!" He yelled back at him in anger, even though he knew he would potentially break the law he was not stupid enough to ruin his future and be thrown into prison.
