Chapter 5 - Plans

"Did you say a month?"

With a suddenly serious look he nodded his head and I started to panic and hurriedly tried to unhook all of the machines from myself, "Crap, I have missed so much! Not to mention, I still have souls to lead to the other side and then there is the contracts that I have to make sure was done and filed correctly!"

Ares placed his hand on my arm to calm me down and laughed as my dad rushed back in saying, "Serenity, calm down, princess. Between your mate, when he wasn't threatening the doctor to wake you up, and your sisters everything got done, correctly. Honestly, I should have known he was your mate when he protected you as a child or was determined to do all of your things and stay here when all of his people left to go back to their realm until you woke up."

"He did?" I asked with a lifted eyebrow looking at the mate in question who looked away and I swear he was blushing. Neither of us catching the fact that my father had mentioned us knowing each other as children.

"He did," my dad replied with a smirk before turning to Ares with a serious look, "Now, I know what you have heard about my daughter but I will tell you right now, if you make her cry or hurt her in anyway, I will personally hunt down and destroy anything and anyone you care about while you watch and nothing can stop me. She is one of my princesses and for a while now, she will probably be confused. She has never felt anything and now, thanks to you, she will feel everything, possibly even stronger then most people do," he warned without any sign of concern for threatening a dragon, much less the demonic dragon prince.

"I don't plan on hurting your daughter in anyway, Grim. I am sure she is strong enough to lead my people and caring enough to show them remorse if they hurt her. Hopefully, however, we can convince them to except a soul eater as their queen," he said making both me to flinch and my dad to growl at the hurtful stereo type given to us reapers. He looked between the both of us confused and asked, "What?"

"First, please don't call us that. Secondly, we don't eat the souls that we collect. We lead them to where ever they are meant to go." I told him as I shook my head and both me and my dad sighed. We both knew that it was what some people said behind our backs but it's still a painful reminder, especially coming from the mouth of your mate, the one that was created to be with you, forever.

My dad, then decided to change the subject to one that was more important. "So, how is this going to work? Is, Serenity going to go to live at your castle in your realm or are you both going to stay here?"

"We haven't talked about that yet dad," I started to say but Ares stopped me by saying, "We are going to spend equal time in both places," causing my heart to skip a beat again. I always was against finding my mate because I thought that finding him would mean I would have to choose between him and my family. But, in one statement, he proved me wrong and put my mind at ease.

Ares then looked at me and I smiled at him, nodding my head to let him know that he should continue.

"Of course, I will need to return to my realm as soon as she is released by the doctor to travel since I have been here so long. Plus I need to take care of things there as well as introduce her to my people as my mate, but I do not see the fact of us being mates as reason enough to keep her from her family or me from mine," he continued and my father smiled.

"I like him already," he told me as an old werewolf dressed in a lab coat with a stethoscope around his neck walked in looking at a clip board and nodding before looking up and pushing his glasses up his nose.

"Oh, she's awake, good," the doctor said as he noticed me sitting up on my bed.

"Now can you tell us what exactly happened to knock her out and why she was out so long," Ares said with a growl at the old doctor whose name tag read Benjamin.

"Honestly, what we believe happened is the curse breaking so suddenly instead of gradually was too much for her body to take at that time as for why she was out so long, only Luna really knows," he said as he walked up to me and started checking my vitals while nodding.

"Okay," my father said, "how much longer must she stay in here?"

"Her vitals are all stable so she can leave today but she needs at least a week of rest before she can travel or resume her usual work. Being out so long, her muscles may not be able to hold her up properly," the doctor answered and my heart plummeted.

"A week? Doctor, I ensure you I don't need that long, I am stronger than you think. What I need is this IV off of me and to basically walk around a bit." I tried to argue, not wanting to keep Ares from his people any longer than I had too.

"No, you need the week because if you push yourself to much you could loose use of your legs permanently."

Ares and my dad both gave me a "stop being stubborn and listen to him" look and I clamped my mouth shut without saying the stream of curse words and arguments I had already thought of.

"We will make sure she follows your orders," Ares said before turning to my father and saying, "I need to call my father to let him know that she's awake now and what the doctor just said. I will be just a few moments. Do you mind making sure our stubborn girl doesn't argue with her doctor anymore?"

At that my dad laughed and nodded, saying, "Go ahead, son. I'll make sure Serenity behaves while you're gone."

Ares walked out of the room and my dad continued to talk to and question the doctor. As thoughts of everything that happened and what everyone said swirled through my mind, I tuned everyone out and got lost in my thoughts.
