Chapter 15 - chapter 14

It had been a full day since neo's confession and my talk with roman. Needless to say... I've realised some things that I should've done a long time ago.

Right now though, the two were asleep and I decided to check out the weapons that I had taken from the desperado base.

First was sundowners weapon. As I pulled out the weapon, monsoon rose up as well. I handed him my notepad and pen, then he started writing.

"the weapon is called bloodlust and the two can be linked by the grips. Though as you're aware, your touch may grant it properties."

Hans took grip of both blades and the intent to kill washed over him like a vast ocean. Monsoon became unnerved by the murderous grin that had spread across Hans' face.

The grin was faltering as hans attempted to resist.

"calm... your... bloodlust..." He was speaking through gritted teeth as he struggled to resist its effects. Despite this, he could feel the blades Killing intent lowering.

'it seems to listen to me. Good.' The captain's hands were shaking as they gripped the blades. But as the bloodlust calmed, the shaking calmed.

Until eventually there was no shaking.

Hans let go of the blade and they dropped back into his shadow. Reaching in once more after a brief moment of respite, he pulled out the sheathed katana before looking to Monsoon expectantly.

"that blade is called the high-frequency murasama. It can cut through most objects and has a mag in the sheath so that it can be fired out of the sheath in a high-speed slash." That's when hans remembered the name Muramasa.

'i read about him once. A mythical, mad swordsmith. Though that is all I know.' Taking grip on both sides of the blade, I unsheathed it and immediately something felt off.

The sword seemed to yearn for something... for blood.

'what is wrong with this sword?' As he held the sword, something felt off with his mind.

'something should. I am a cursed blade after all. I tend to drive my users... a bit mad.' A Brazilian voice called out to him within his mind.

Hans shot up and looked around for the voice.

'calm down. Don't freak out. I'm in your head after all.' Monsoon stood up and looked around for any opponents but found none.

'have you calmed down a bit? Good. Now let me explain. Your touch seems to have made me sentient, but there also are side effects. Due to my creator being a 'demonic blacksmith' your magical touch has made me a 'demonic blade' by relation. Now, I cannot be sheathed without first drawing blood. Doesn't matter whose, just blood.'

The captain stared at the blade, gripping the blade tightly...

Before slitting his hand open.

'not even flinching from being cut. Well, since we'll be partners, you can call me Sam. It is in the name after all.' Hans sheathed the sword but instead of putting it back into his shadow, the man attached it to his hip. Though he noticed the wound on his hand was healing noticeably slower.

'it seems that magic affects my regeneration.'

He looked to monsoon as he was about to reach back into his shadow.

"the only weapon left within is mistrals L'etranger. That weapon is unusable as anything other than a staff without her." The old wolf halted and retracted his hand.

Monsoon, satisfied with the results, returned back within Hans's shadow.

'so those things just hide in your shadow? Talk about a lack of privacy.' Hans didn't respond to sams quip, much to the sword's disappointment.

"not a talker... huh." Sam was obviously quite bored. Hans didn't care... but he had to get back to beacon.

The wyvern wasn't a great idea because that could attract far too much attention that wasn't necessary. The only other mount he had was the bear that monsoon recently killed.

'it'll have to do.' The man's shadow elongated and out rose a shadowy bear. "Panzer." The bear placed its head on the ground as an act of submission.

Hans casually lugged his two compatriots onto his shoulder before walking on top of panzer while using his head as a stepping stool.

"put me down." His voice surprised hans a bit and he put the ginger criminal down.

"thank you. Anyways, take a seat, we need to talk." The shirtless man sat down with his legs crossed and roman mirrored him.

"right. I'm not gonna drag this out. I want out of this business. For me and neo. The whole shtick was that me and neo enjoyed breaking the law. But not long ago, a woman called cinder who used strange abilities approached us and pretty much told us 'work for me or you die'. I realised at the start of this... we need a way out. I know absolutely nothing about her plans but I want you to take us to ozpin."

'he's a good man, that's for sure. He's trying to make sure his daughter will be ok. Even willing to go to the one place that may get him arrested on sight that he can't escape, just for his daughter.' Hans nodded at both sams words and Roman's request.

"I will..." Roman had a small smile on his face.

"care to explain why you're making deals with criminals, hans?" The voice of summer could be heard from the forest, her tone was both confused and angry.

The captain immediately locked onto her location and grabbed her. Summer was clearly not prepared for this...

If you couldn't tell by the surprised yelp that she let out.

"hans! My question still stands." He just held her under his arm like luggage. "Eh?" The rose woman was incredibly confused, she didn't even see him move.

"that's kinda funny. To see a huntress casually being carried around like luggage." Roman's eyes narrowed in suspicion at the bloodied cylinder in her hand.

"oh, here you go hans! It's your scroll! I found it in the forest, it's actually how I found you! I followed your smell!" Sam chuckled from within the werewolf's mind.

'what is she, a dog?' Hans gripped onto the pommel of the sword tightly. 'Touched a nerve did I?' The shirtless man refused to comment.

"can you put me down? It's... a bit uncomfortable." Hans dropped her but she swapped with the air to land upright. "Now, roman torchwick, explain why hans is willing to take you to ozpin?"

The huntress crouched in front of the wonderfully dressed criminal.

"it's pretty simple really. Neo here is my adoptive daughter. I want to get her out of all of this. Recently, a woman called cinder has been forcing us to collect dust. But right now, I see an opportunity to get out of all this. Especially since the man that neo loves is fine with helping." Summer glanced toward the man who had caught her daughter's eye.

Neo blinked and sat up in a slight panic. Her face was flushed while she glanced at hans.

'oh oum... I remember kissing him. Did I really do that?!' Hans approached the young woman and held out a hand to her. The ice cream girl nervously took it and stood to her feet.

'it seems that Ruby's going to need to work hard. She's got quite the lead.'

"it seems that emerald has gone missing. Well, no matter. Mercury, since neo and roman are MIA, you are going to set up the train. Use whatever methods you deem fit." Mercury lazily nodded his head.

"alright boss." He glanced around. 'It actually feels somewhat odd with emerald gone.' Cinder, however, was only somewhat irritated with the disruption of her plans.

'her semblance was key to the plan. Without it... oh well, nothing the slaughter of some civilians can't solve.'

"it's been an entertaining journey so far, young man. But worse battles await you. Heroes of the past, gods, devils. There are many trials you will have to overcome. Even the feelings of those around you. Will you be able to break their hearts, or will you find another way?" The old man chuckled as the books pages in front of him flipped repeatedly.

"why are you talking to yourself?" The old vampire turned to the dead man walking, surprise was visible in his eyes.

"how are you still here? Your soul should have returned to the afterlife, otto günsche." The captain's father shrugged his shoulders.

"why, I'm just as confused as you are, kischur zelretch schweinorg. I'd like to be back in the afterlife with my wife... but no, I'm stuck here with you." Otto took a seat and left out a sigh.

"I am sorry otto. You should've just stayed dead, no offence, but that way you could've stayed with Erika and lina... but someone's revived lina somehow. Even managing to slip past my gaze to do it completely anonymous. I can't even track them." Otto perked up, a dangerous look in his eyes.

"explain... wizard. I thought this was a random occurrence. Not a planned one." Zelretch flipped through his book and stopped on a certain page that showed hans and lina playing.

"at first I thought it was simply an anomaly within the afterlife. But something didn't seem right. Anomalies like resurrection are not often caused, usually, they're like a 1 in a million. Because of how rare they are, I investigated." Otto's foot was tapping repeatedly against the ground.

"so? What did you find out?!"  Otto paused again, he took a deep breath. "I'm sorry. Continue... please."

"it's fine. Now, I noticed that someway, somehow, lina had been transported to remnant right under the nose of the god of darkness and the god of light. That's no easy feat. In terms of my world, you'd need EX-rank presence concealment to hide from either of those two. So I already know, we aren't dealing with some nobody. Lina has yet to awaken but I can only hope that your son finds her first." Otto nodded his head.

"zelretch... no, kischur. I have a favour to ask." The master of the kaleidoscope was surprised.

After all, it had been a long time since he'd seen his friend this serious.

"alright, let's hear it."

A pool of water.

Within a cave, was a pool of water. Of course, this was no ordinary pool of water.

What is ordinary about the world of remnant in the end?

A white-haired girl.

The girl wore a black frilly dress, her red eyes slowly opened. Immediately, they began to panic.

But the girl was confused. How could she breathe underwater? She'd never been able to do that in the bathtub. The young girl tried to speak but couldn't.

Even if she could breathe underwater, she couldn't speak underwater.

The girl slowly swung her arms through the water and swam to the surface.

A deep breath was taken upon reaching the surface. The girl looked around and could only think one thing.

Why is it so dark?

Her small hands gripped onto the rocks, she lifted herself up and out of the water. The girl was freezing from the water and shivered. A question had come to the girl's mind.

Why had the nice man taken her here?

The girl was puzzled... what did he look like again? The girl couldn't remember.

"big brother? Are you here?" Her voice echoed throughout the cave, reverberating through her ears. With little other choice, the girl began to walk through the cave, looking for a way out.

Each step rang through her ears, but the girl saw some light. And with a smile on her face, she ran right towards it.
