"Welcome to Oscorp," the lady said to us as we entered the Oscorp building.
The day when Spider-Man would be born was only an hour away. I had already collected DNA samples from Peter, my family, and myself to check for anomalies, specifically the unawakened x-gene.
I had just managed to collect the samples because I needed to study the papers of Dr. Xavier and Dr. McCoy to gain a better understanding of the x-gene and be able to detect such a complex gene strand.
After conducting various tests on each DNA sample, I discovered that Peter's DNA had been manipulated. I don't know how it happened, but I know who did it.
Upon learning this, I discreetly went to different abandoned train stations in New York to search for Richard Parker's research and testimonies regarding his spider experiments. As expected, I found the evidence, confirming that the spiders in Oscorp would be useless to me since they would only cause allergies or, at best, grant abilities to individuals with Parker blood. However, Richard Parker's perfected decay rate algorithm would be valuable for my future projects.
Speaking of the decay rate algorithm, I also needed to study Dr. Connors' papers.
As for the results of my family's DNA, they were still being analyzed, so I decided to wait for the analysis to be completed.
"Okay, class, our next tour is about the different species of spiders..." the guide said as we entered another room filled with scientists examining various spider species.
I stood at the back of the class, observing Peter talking to MJ while holding his camera, keeping an eye out for any signs of a spider.
"There are over 45,000 known species of spiders in the world. They belong to the order Araneae, divided into three suborders," the guide continued her speech while I remained in the background, careful not to accidentally alter the course of Spider-Man's fate.
"Transfer RNA is used to encode an entirely new genome, combining genetic information from all three into these 15 genetically designed super-spiders," the guide explained, pointing to the spiders in the containers.
"But there are only 14," MJ noted, causing the guide to question her.
"I beg your pardon?" the guide asked.
"There are only 14 spiders in the container, ma'am. One spider is missing," Peter clarified, confusing the guide.
"Well... I suppose the researchers are working on that one. Anyways, let's continue..." the guide said, gesturing for us to move to the next room.
"Hey, Luke, why are you over there? Let's take a picture," Peter said, motioning for me to stand next to MJ.
"Fine, fine," I replied, joining them next to MJ.
"I'll take a picture of the two of you next. By the way, where's Flash?" I asked Peter as he prepared the camera.
"He's with the rest of the class. He said he needs to talk to his teammates about a practice or something," Peter explained while getting ready to take the picture.
"Say 'spiders'!" Peter instructed, capturing the moment.
"Spiders," MJ and I said simultaneously, and I followed it with a peace sign.
'Where is it?' I wondered in confusion. 'Did something change? Is it the butterfly effect?'
"Guys, why don't you go first? I need to go to the bathroom, you see," Peter suggested, handing me his camera.
"Okay Pete, just be quick," MJ said to Peter while dragging me towards the next room where the rest of the class is. Once MJ and I are in the next room, before we could go further, I stopped in my tracks and looked at MJ.
"Okay, Pete, just be quick," MJ said to Peter as she dragged me towards the next room where the rest of the class was. Once MJ and I were in the next room, before we could proceed, I stopped in my tracks and looked at MJ.
"MJ, you know what? You go first. I'll wait for Pete. You know how clumsy he is; he'll get lost for sure," I said to MJ, offering a completely terrible but convincing excuse.
"Sure, but be quick, or you two will be left behind by the bus," MJ replied as she followed the rest of the class, completely believing my excuse.
"Ok!" I exclaimed as I followed Peter's direction.
A couple of rooms later, I found Peter listening to a scientist. The scientist's most noticeable physical feature was the lack of a right arm, which was replaced by a stump. That scientist was Dr. Curtis Connors.
'The Amazing Spider-Man,' I thought, realizing the connection.
But in the movie, he was 17 then... why am I always assuming what's supposed to happen and what's not? The moment I was born in this world is the day everything changed. I just need to follow my plans to obtain power for my protection in this messed-up world and retire to a peaceful place with my own farm...
With renewed and absolute resolve, I pushed those thoughts aside and continued to spy on Peter.
When Peter finished listening to Dr. Connors, he continued walking until he collided with a person of Indian descent named Rajit Ratha, a scientist from Oscorp.
The man dropped his folder, and Peter discreetly picked it up, checking its contents.
Once Peter was away, I continued with my alternate plan, realizing that the most likely path Peter would take was the events in 'The Amazing Spider-Man.' I headed towards Rajit.
As a child, I pursued different approaches to build a strong foundation for true power. Martial arts, knowledge of various sciences, and last but not least, magic.
Magic—a force in the universe that allows people to control the natural balance of nature. It is a force that cannot be harnessed by just anyone but only by a select few who possess the power to harness it and use it to their advantage. The world dismisses it as tricks, weeding out the fakes and frauds, leaving only the best and most empowered beings in the limelight.
Magic is the power to seemingly control the natural balance of nature and minds. Its keywords are control and influence over forces. What better way to build my foundation in magic than to practice the magic system of Kamar Taj, starting with the "mundane" magic itself, better known as magic tricks? It may sound crazy, but in this world, magic tricks can be more than meets the eye.
In search of different magicians who perform magic tricks, I stumbled upon familiar yet much-welcomed characters from the movies I watched in my previous life.
Dylan Rhodes/Shrike (who resembles an older Noah Centineo), J. Daniel Atlas, Merritt McKinney, Jack Wilder, Henley Reeves, Lula May, and lastly, Thaddeus Bradley—the present and future members of an ancient and powerful organization called 'The Eye.'
This secret society is comprised of the most skilled magicians from around the world: illusionists, mentalists, escapists, psychics, hypnotists, card-trickers, and mediums. Their purpose is to steal from the rich and give to the poor.
The organization is rumored to have started during the days of Ancient Egypt when servants would steal food and riches from the cruel Gods and Goddesses and give it to the poor. It is believed that they once stopped the 'Apocalypse' from ever occurring and defeated the Gods and Goddesses by trapping them in a pyramid with only a perfect elaborate plan of absolute deception and the use of 'real' magic despite their odds of winning.
I easily managed to know of them accidentally online, but I personally searched for Jack Wilder and found him in New York as a high school dropout. Dylan Rhodes was a little harder to find because of his work as an FBI special agent but I was still able to find his records.
Each of these magicians has different expertise in magic, and what I need the most to master immediately is mentalism or hypnotism. That's why, I decided to go to Merritt first, to master the arts of hypnotism by using the abundance of money that I've got from my inventions. I managed to bribe him into teaching me his magic.
//A/N: Hehehe... A great twist, right? 😁 or not right? 😓. I plan for the MC to have his own organization later, but I thought, why not just take an existing one, heh? The Eye is kinda good don't you think? What do you think? Type in your comments below! Also, stones, I'd like some of that stones 😉//
