Chapter 28 - She Got Him Drunk

"I beg your pardon!" Xander who heard her mumbled something but unable to hear her exact words exclaimed.

She shifted her attention back to him and smiled, "I guess this happened because I lived as a different person for half a year before I regained my memories..."

"You lost your memories?" Xander demanded, his eyebrows raised. Even though she hadn't replied she could read relief over his face.

He tried to mask it well but she could still read it on his face and through his eyeballs.

"Yes, I was in an accident," She replied as she refilled his wine glass.

"An accident?" He quizzed and adjusted the way he sat so that his back leaned against the couch.

"Hmm..." She shook her head and brought the glass of wine close to his lips.

"Your mum mobilised all her men and the police to search for you. They searched almost all the hospitals in the country. If you were in an accident and hospitalized they would have found you but that never happened..."

"I lost my memory after being drifted to an unknown island where I lived as a different person," Giavanna responded. She made him drink from the glass in her hands before she lowered it.

"You lost your memories?" Xander exclaimed, not able to hide his shock.

"Hmmm..." She shook her head and fed him the wine again. This time around she made him swallow a large amount of the highly intoxicated wine.

"I was only able to return to the arms of my beloved where I truly belong after I regained some of my memories," She beamed and tried to feed him the wine but Xander gently pushed the glass aside.

"Does that mean you don't recall what happened the night you disappeared?" Xander asked impatiently. He composed himself when he noticed that he overreacted a bit with his question.

'I must admit that it took you so long to ask that which had always been in your mind... too bad you won't get the reply you are searching for?'

She grinned inwardly while she maintained a confused look on her face.

"Why?" She began. "Did something important happen that night that I should have remembered?" She asked and scratched her head in confusion.

"No," He shook his head in negation. "Nothing of such took place," He continued. Giavanna whose eyeballs had been on his face for some minutes now could read relief all over his face.

'Smile as much as you want because yours and your mistress's misfortune is about to begin and I promise you that you won't have many reasons to smile when that time comes'.

Her grip on the glass of wine she just picked up tightened as she guided it to her lips.

Just when she was about to gulp the glass of wine, Xander, who she assumed wasn't paying attention to her, snatched the glass from her.

"Don't you remember that your doctor prohibited you from drinking even a drop of alcohol?" He scolded.

Giavanna squinted her eyebrows as she watched him return the wine glass to the table in front of them.

Of course, she remembered all the things the doctor warned her to stay clear of which alcohol happens to be one of them.

In the past, she had adhered strictly to her doctor's instructions due to her desperation to live a few years more for his sake. She deprived herself of so many great things, unfortunately, she has been reborn.

At the moment she can drink, eat and do all the things the doctor forbids her from doing without having to worry about death.

How fortunate of her!

Giavanna scoffed instead of feeling happy about her rebirth.

Now an expert at manipulation, Giavanna found a way and made Xander spend time with her despite that wasn't what he wanted.

Eve waited for Xander upstairs. At first, she was certain he wouldn't spend up to fifteen minutes with his wife from what she noticed earlier.

But she began to get anxious when hours passed and he still hadn't shown up.

Curious to know what he was doing downstairs that he kept her waiting, she came out of her room which was less than five steps away from Xander's room.

She approached the stairs.

Giavanna who had already heard her leave her room got ready for her next scene as Eve's footsteps drew closer.

In the sitting room, Giavanna tapped the face of the unconscious man whose head was resting against the couch.

"Darling!" She called and gently hit his face again, pretending to want to wake him up.

"You are drunk. Let me help you to our room," Giavanna muttered to the guy whose drowsy eyes were about to shut once again.

"Come here," Giavanna mumbled in between her struggles to pull the drunken man to his feet.

Stacy hurried to the sitting room when she overheard Giavanna keep on talking to herself.

"Madam, how about you leave that to me?" Stacy offered to help. She hurried to the couch intending to assist Giavanna.

If only she knew that Madam was pretending to be weak and helpless then she wouldn't have been so worried about her.

"That won't be necessary, Stacy," Giavanna replied. A sweet smile crept onto her face after she managed to get Xander to his feet.

Giavanna was still all smiles when Xander almost made her fall. Had it not been for Stacy's intervention, she would have fallen and smashed her face against the centre table.

At least this was what Stacy believed.

"Are you alright Madam?" Stacy asked.
