Chapter 4 - She Woke Up At Last

"Don't worry…" he smiled and stood up from the wet floor. "That day will never come," he asserted and raced to her side.

When he reached the spot she laid, he lifted her and made her lean on his body.

He called her name a few more times and when she refused to regain consciousness, he carried her in his arms.

The brown jacket guy turned around in time and saw this.

Instantly, his eyebrows creased and his eyes turned murderous, "And what the hell do you think you are doing?" he demanded, causing him to pause in his tracks.

"I want to take her with us. You didn't expect me to abandon her here…"

"Of course I am aware of that," He hissed and removed his hands from his trouser's pockets.

"What I meant was, why is she in your arms?" He questioned, his voice chilly as always.

"T-t-that.." He stammered and lowered his gaze at the woman in his arms.

"Yes, I let her live because you desperately wanted it but believe me, killing her and her entire family won't be enough payment if she dared to bite you," He threatened.

"But…" He paused, not knowing what his brother wanted him to do anymore.

His heart pounded against his chest when he saw his brother walk towards him.

"Bro…"

"Give her to me," He instructed and paused right in front of him with his hands stretched forth.

"W-w-what…" the white jacket guy stuttered. He blinked thrice thinking he might have imagined things.

"If you don't want her and her entire family to die in my hands tonight then you will hand her over to…" he shoved the lady into his arms without waiting for him to finish his threat.

His words sounded like a threat but he knew his elder brother was damn serious about what he said.

As he approached the car with the unconscious lady in his arms, for a few seconds she regained consciousness.

"T-t-that scent…" the half conscious Giavanna mumbled, as she strained her blurry eyes to get a glimpse of the guy walking ahead of them.

Slowly, she stretched her hand but only for her hand to fall the moment she lost consciousness.

….

The next day, a lady was seen fast asleep on a huge bed.

A few seconds later she let out a displeased groan and changed her position on the bed.

"Betty, will you tell the maids to keep their voices down?" She yelled and tried to shield her ears with the white pillows.

Even after she did this, the vibration of the noises didn't subside.

"Since you can't make them keep quiet then I will do it myself," She growled and sat up on the bed.

With her eyes still closed the sleepy lady crawled on the bed.

The moment she opened her eyes, the strange environment made her pause. She sat back on the bed and took a good look at the room.

Giavanna scrutinized the spacious room with her sharp eyes.

Although the room was tastefully furnished it was nothing compared to her room.

"Where am I?" She muttered.

She blinked a couple of times as she tried to remember how she got there.

As she sat, she thought of how she got there. And just then, the memory of what happened the previous night flashed before her eyes.

The first place her hand went to was her neck. She could still vividly recall the pain in her neck when she was bitten.

Instantly she climbed out of bed and rushed to the circular white mirror hung in the corner of the room.

In front of the mirror, Giavanna shoved her brown hair to the side and searched her neck for the spot where the mysterious man bit her.

"H-how..." her eyes widened and her jaw dropped.

She was too shocked to utter a word when she realised that not even a scratch was on her body.

"Was that a dream or..."

She was about to conclude that what happened was a dream when she got a glimpse of her fingernails.

She took a long stare at her uneven nails.

Last night, she had scratched the floor just before she lost consciousness.

She was still at a loss for what happened to her and how she got there when suddenly she heard loud voices.

"Where am I?... And who are those shouting at the door?" she muttered.

Angry that the voices won't let her concentrate on her thoughts, she stomped to the door, determined to put the noisemakers in their places.

"What the hell…" her eyes bulged and words refused to form when she saw that no one was at the door.

In fact, none was in sight on the long corridor.

"No one is here so where did the noise I heard come from?" she mumbled, still in shock.

After she stood there for close to three minutes and saw no one, she concluded she must have momentarily lost her mind due to the incident that happened in her husband's office.

She was about to shut the door when her nose got a whiff of a sweet scent.

"What is that?" she whispered and subconsciously took another sniff at the sweet fragrance.

She stuck out her head from the door and gazed at her right-hand side where she believed the scent came from.

"It smells so nice. It's like nothing I have ever tasted," she absent-mindedly said.

Giavanna closed her eyes and inhaled more of the strange yet sweet fragrance.

"I want to have a bite of it," She licked her lips hungrily like someone who hasn't eaten for days.

Two minutes later, she found herself walking with her eyes closed.

Even in this manner, she was able to navigate her way. It was as if she knew the layout of the place like the back of her hand when in truth this was her first time here.

Giavanna continued to walk in big strides, unaware of her environment like someone who was under a strong spell.

She was so focused on finding out what the sweet fragrance was, that she didn't notice how excited her heart and every part of her body were.

When she reached a black door, her eyes flew open, "Gotcha!"

She grinned and pushed the door open without hesitation.

The moment the door opened, Giavanna was greeted by five frowning ladies' faces.

"Who are you?" One of the ladies demanded fiercely and hurried to block Giavanna's path.

"You are not supposed to be here so please kindly leave," she instructed, her with her index finger pointed at the door.

"I didn't come here for you. So stay aside!" she grabbed the lady's neck and pushed her to a corner.

She strolled into the kitchen fully.

As she strolled around the kitchen, she scanned the dishes displayed on the brown tables in the middle of the vast room.

There were various dishes on the tables and it ranged from French cuisine, Italian, Chinese and more.

She tried to discover which of the dishes had such a sweet fragrance.

Instead of those giddy feelings she felt earlier, the aroma of the food for some reason made her want to puke.

"Was I mistaken?" She muttered and turned to leave.

She paused after she had taken only a step forward.

"Yes, that is the fragrance I was looking for," She grinned and turned to her right-hand side.
