At that corner stood three ladies in uniforms with another lady in their midst.
She examined them with her eagle eyes. She was still gazing around when she got a glimpse of a red stain on the white floor.
Blood!
She screamed in her mind.
Just like magic, her eyes widened as if they would fall off and her hands shook uncontrollably.
Giavanna sniffed repeatedly and her right hand extended towards where the ladies stood.
She tried to withdraw her hand but she couldn't.
Her dry throat grew drier as seconds ticked. Before she knew what was happening, her legs and body began to move against her wish.
"What is wrong with me?" she shouted and tried to force her legs to stop moving, but her legs won't listen to her.
"Why am I feeling this way?" Giavanna cried out.
She held her outstretched hand and twisted it but it still returned to his previous position.
"What is this unquenchable thirst about..." a lady jumped and stood in front of her.
"Didn't you hear that visitors are not allowed here?" The stern lady with brown hair questioned.
"Even though you are a guest...,"
"I want that," She declared, her gaze fixed on the lady's delicate neck.
The lady didn't have the time to assimilate what Giavanna's words meant before she got violently pulled by the neck.
Giavanna's eyes turned crimson and immediately, she lowered her upper body, ready to sink her long fangs into the woman's delicate neck.
"H-her eyes," One of the ladies shouted in horror.
Slowly she lifted her trembling hand and pointed it at Giavanna's bloody eyes.
Curious to know why their colleague acted as if she had just seen a ghost, the other ladies followed where the trembling lady's hand pointed at.
Their entered body shivered the instant they got a glimpse of Giavanna's transformed claws, eyes and fangs.
"M-monster...," They screamed in terror and dashed out of the kitchen.
The lady who got injured ran the fastest for someone who acted as if she would faint a few seconds ago.
Anxious to know why the ladies acted as if they had just seen a demon, Giavanna hauled the lady aside and walked to the sink filled with water.
The image reflected in the water made her legs go weak.
"T-t-that can't be me. No... no...," Giavanna screamed in horror and staggered backwards.
She lifted her shivering hands and rubbed her eyes repeatedly with the hope that it would go away.
"V-v-vampires only exist in novels and movies but not in real life so how could I possibly..." She couldn't bring herself to complete the words.
"P-please don't kill me. Please..." The terrified voice of the lady who had curled herself into a ball made her shift her attention to the woman's direction.
"Please spare me," The lady pleaded with her shaky palms joined together.
"Scram!" Giavanna shouted coldly.
And immediately the lady scrambled out of the room bumping into the door on her way out.
Not even the collision made her pause for a second. She ran for dear life.
"Giavanna, this must be a bad dream... no, a nightmare so wake up now," She shook her head violently.
BAM!
BAM!
BAM!
She slapped her cheeks thrice to wake herself up but the irony was that she felt no pain even though she slapped her face hard.
She was about to run out of the kitchen when the bloodstained table caught her attention.
Slowly, she found her body moved towards the table like it was magnetised.
When she got her senses back and saw that she was licking her bloodstained hands, Giavanna was stupefied.
Her hands fell to her side when she saw that the bloodstained table was wiped clean.
"This can't be me... No... No..." she screamed and staggered backwards, knocking down the dishes from the table.
"T-t-this is not me.... yes... yes..." She shook her head a couple of times as hot tears fell from her eyes.
She raced out of there like a cheetah.
As she ran on the street, she repeatedly chanted that everything was a dream despite that the truth was right in front of her.
Running on the street proved to be a worse idea compared to the strange place she found herself after she woke up.
On the street, she could hear voices from miles. Human heartbeat which could not be heard on normal days played in her ears like drums.
As if the voices playing in her head weren't enough torture, the scent of human blood drove her insane.
"Enough!" Giavanna shouted and squatted with her face buried in between her legs.
"I said that is enough please..." she pleaded. Tears streamed down her face as she squatted there.
Her heart-wrenching sobs made passersby turn and give her second glances.
"Are you alright?" a lady's concerned voice asked. She raised her hand to touch Giavanna.
But her hand was violently beaten away by Giavanna. "Stay away from me," she yelled.
She stood up and continued with her race.
Because of her desperation to get far away from the woman whose blood she lusted after, she didn't look at her path and ran into the busy road.
BUMP!
A loud collision was accompanied by people's screams.
Giavanna was sent flying a few distances from where the accident took place.
Everyone had already concluded she wouldn't make it out alive but to their greatest shock, Giavanna stood up from where she lay as if nothing happened.
She lowered her gaze only to witness her injuries close up in front of her eyes.
"W-what..." She lost her balance and fell to the floor butt-first.
The onlookers' murmurs made her raise her head. From where she sat, her eyes darted from one part of the street to the other.
And their expressions were the same.
It was that of total shock and horror.
"Miss, are you ok?" The terrified truck driver who had thought he had killed a person asked.
He ran towards her.
It was right at that moment it dawned on Giavanna that this wasn't a bad dream or nightmare as she believed.
This was the harsh reality!
"No.... no... this can't be happening," She screamed and took to her heels.
The way she ran was as if she wasn't the same lady that got into a terrible accident.
After she ran aimlessly in the street for a few hours she recalled for the first time that she had a family.
"Yes, I am not alone in this," she mumbled, her gaze focused on the billboard which at the moment displayed her company's advert.
