"What are you doing here " I asked Chris, who was still grinning at me
" Nothing,I was just wondering where you were because you were missing"
He replied smugly. He walked in and noticed the book that I was holding
"Why are you reading about this kind of stufff"
He asked still staring at the book
"What do you mean, huh, I suppose I do have the freedom to like specific genres of literature" i said while striding to the door to get away from him
"No that's not what I meant" Chris said blocking my way
"Then explain what you mean" i demanded.
He sighed with dissatisfaction written all over his face and he said
"It's no use, the study of the past United continent Norahsid is forbidden in most countries; especially to the royal family".
I clutched the book in my hand, unsure of whether to believe Chris or it was also part of his practical jokes.
I swiftly escaped from Chris successfully then I patiently waited for him to leave before I went back to take the weird book.
I hurriedly hid myself under the large desk in my father's office with hopes thee at t I'm not discovered .
"Yeah I know,if Olivia gets to be the future empress, our lives will be set and I'll finally be able to get rid of that old geezer…."
I listened intently as my mother engaged herself in one of the most ambiguous conversations yet, I felt really uncomfortable with the words she was speaking but still I listened. The conversation got pretty boring when dresses suddenly became the topic of discussion but suddenly something she said caught my attention.
"I can never let those two to know or stumble upon the truth,or else we are as good as dead."
Although I wondered why she was having such an ambiguous conversation with someone but I didn't question it because I had to hide the book with me.
I hastily walked to my room to hide the book so that I could read it later. Although Chris had already said that reading of this book wasn't allowed ,I wan still feeling weirdly drawn to the book. I looked for a nice and secured hiding spot and hid the book meticulously, befor I could hide the book I looked at the book cover and felt a weird feeling of longing but I quickly hid it when I heard a knock on the door.
" The king summons you to the throne room " John , my dad personal guard instructed.
I followed him back to the throne room and everyone was there, well all except me of course. I took my seat and the conversation began with my dad saying
"As we all know, the Ovrino Royal family is here specifically to choose one of my daughters that will be responsible for running our future Empire alongside Prince Christopher. So he's going to be making that decision at this moment. Over to you…"
"Good day everyone, not to be too formal I simply want to say that the person I chose to be my wife is someone I know has a nice charisma and some one I relate to." Chris explains. I took a glance at Olivia and I could see her blushing and mom stroking her hair when suddenly Chris mentioned what I never expected him to say at all…
" I choose Princess Ondina as my future wife and ruler of our Kingdoms."
Everyone's eyes immediately shot to me and I immediately stood up to disagree and so did my mom and Olivia .
But before any of us could utter any word my Dad silenced and said
"Whatever Prince Christopher has said is final and shall be adhered to, You may all leave the throne room as we prepare for the Ovrino's Royal Family Departure "
I grumpily stood up and dashed out of the throne room just to bump into Olivia. I was about to avoid her when she said
"You might think that you have won but we'll both see who will marry the Prince at the end of the day" she said haughtily and left.
I couldn't help but shake my head in shame, I wasn't going to marry him as much as she doesn't wants me to marry him.
The Ovrino Royal Family was to leave in thirty minutes and we were summoned to escort them but i blatantly ignored it because I wasn't at all ready meet that backstabbing bastard. I remember vividly that when we became friends I told him specifically that I did not want to marry him and still he went ahead and chose me.
While still brooding over this matter I heard a very familiar knock on my door,
"Come in" I said and Onyx walked in, he looked nervous and perturbed. I signaled for him to sit on my bed and tapped an empty space close to me. He sat down still being quiet and he started
"I want you to agree to Prince Christopher's marriage proposal…"
I could hear the long silence between us, the silence stretched out for a while before I finally broke the silence
"Are you sure that you are in your right mind brother?"
"Yes I am, hear me out first of all okay" Onyx said to me. With an obvious look of disbelief I agreed to hear him out
"I really do not have a justification now but please just agree with me"
"What do you mean you don't have any justifications" I asked in disbelief
"Don't I need a reason to why you want me to marry someone I barely know or why you of all people want this marriage to happen" I continued saying in disbelief.
"I know that you need an explanation Ondina but I just want you to trust me, that is if you've ever trusted me" I stared at him for a while then I sighed in defeat then said
"Fine but you must give me an appropriate explanation"
He smiled then stood about to leave when he turned to me and said
"We also have to meet that woman tomorrow, don't forget" I nodded my head in agreement and he left.
