Tangero was equally puzzled, "I don't know," he replied, "but we need to find out what he's planning to do with it."
Toni nodded in agreement, "But how do we stop him? He's already one step ahead of us."
Tangero took a deep breath, "We'll figure something out.
As they were stepping out, Tangero noticed Toni silently crying while looking at Ana's lifeless body. He walked up to him and put his arm around him, offering his support. It was a heartbreaking sight to see, and Tangero knew that the loss of Ana had affected Toni deeply.
"I'm so sorry, Toni," Tangero said softly. "I can't imagine what you must be going through right now."
Toni looked up at Tangero with tears in his eyes. "She didn't deserve this," he said, his voice barely above a whisper. "None of them did."
Tangero nodded in agreement. "We'll make sure that they didn't die in vain," he said, trying to offer some comfort.
Toni looked at Tangero, a fire burning in his eyes. "You're right," he said, determination evident in his voice. "We can't let this go unpunished.
Eizo turned to his subordinates in the van and explained, "I didn't take the file because I have what I needed. The replica of Earth-212 is enough to carry out my plan, and I didn't want to leave any trace of my involvement in this operation. Besides, it's better if the Sylviran government thinks the file is still intact. It'll make it harder for them to connect the dots."
One of the subordinates asked, "What about the casualties? Won't this raise suspicions?"
Eizo replied, "That's why we need to leave the country as soon as possible. The longer we stay, the higher the chance of us getting caught. We'll make it look like it was an attack from a rival nation, and the Sylviran government will be too busy dealing with the aftermath to investigate further. Trust me, we're already two steps ahead of them."
Subordinate: "Boss, why didn't you kill Tangero and Toni? They could be a potential threat to us."
Eizo turned to his subordinate and smiled. "Who said I left them free?" he asked with a sly grin.
Eizo chuckled at the subordinate's question and replied, "You see, my dear friend, cats have a peculiar habit of playing with their prey before devouring them. They enjoy the thrill of the chase and the satisfaction of overpowering their prey. Similarly, I too wanted to play with Tangero and Toni a little bit before delivering the final blow. It's all part of the game."
Eizo's voice echoed in the van as he continued to explain his plans to his subordinate. As he spoke, the tension built up outside the van. Tangero held the door open, his eyes darting around as he tried to locate any signs of danger. Toni was a bit far behind, his eyes still wet from crying.
Eizo's subordinate listened intently as Eizo talked about what he really wanted to do with Tangero and Toni. The air in the van grew heavy with the weight of his words.
Tangero's grip on the door handle tightened, and he took a step back as if he was ready to slam the door shut and protect himself and Toni. He couldn't believe the level of ruthlessness and coldness in Eizo's plan.
Meanwhile, Toni looked up, a mix of confusion and fear on his face. He could sense the gravity of the situation, but he didn't fully comprehend what was happening.
The tension in the air was palpable as Eizo finished his explanation. The silence that followed was broken only by the sound of the van's engine.
The other subordinate nodded in agreement, impressed by Eizo's calculated approach.
As Tangero opened the door fully, a massive explosion erupted from within the library. The force of the blast sent him flying back, crashing into a nearby wall. The deafening sound was followed by a blinding flash of light that left Tangero momentarily disoriented and unable to see.
