Chapter 7 - Echoes of the forgotten war

Unknown voice: Yes my lord, it seems as if these beasts were brought to life through revival magic just as our mages predicted… hmm what's this. A shopping list…?

*Meanwhile*

Kanako: The spell "Whirlwind" harnesses the power of wind to create a swirling vortex of air. When cast, it generates a powerful gust that rapidly spins in a circular motion, creating a localized storm of wind. This spell can be used for various purposes like disorienting the opponent off balance or even cause a great impact to throw the enemy into the air. Also this spell can be used for defensive purposes like redirecting arrows projectiles and some other spells too.

Gareki: So what you're saying is that this is a multi use spell that can act as a shield or as an offensive weapon in certain situations

Kanako: Yes! Now you're getting the hang of it.

Gareki: so how exactly do you use this spell?

Kanako:First you need to focus on your breathing. This spell requires a big amount of concentration in your breathing otherwise the spell won't work. You need to take deep inhalation and short exhalations. *Inhales* *Exhales* Once you're at the point you feel like you can't breathe in any more, you point your hands to where you want the whirlwind to go and you shout out *WHIRLWIND* By rotating your hands while shouting out the spell you give it more stability and further accuracy.

Gareki: Whoooaa- that was very impressive! So beautiful.

Kanako:Hehehehe..... I know you don't have to say it. Thats why, I AM THE BEST TEACHER THAT HAS EVER EXIST- *Gasp*

I punched her. I've told her if she said that one more time this would happen but I didn't expect her to forget this easily, then, I decided to try the spell.

*Inhale* *Exhale* *Inhale* this is it. *rotates hand* WHIRLWIND!

Gareki: So why didn't anything happen…?

Kanako: Maybe you didn't inhale enough air?

I tried again…..

Gareki: Okay this is ridiculous why is it not working?

Kanako: I don't know maybe if you keep trying it will eventually work? Either way I wasn't expecting anything too big from the start… although I wasn't expecting nothingness either… BWAHAHAHAHA

Gareki: Hmph…

Kanako: What's up?

Gareki: I just remembered something you said… about those things being immune to your magic…

Kanako: Speaking of this, can I ask you something?

Gareki: Sure what is it

Kanako: How do you know anout the great holy war?

Gareki: The what?

Kanako: Come on now, don't act dumb, you said it yourself when I was teaching you basic rules of magic the first time we've met "So it's kind of like demonic arts and Divine blessings"

Gareki: Oh, that? I just speculated a theory based on what you've told me, but why is that important?

Kanako: Well, you see…

Narrator:

In a time long forgotten, when humans were bereft of the ability to wield aether and cast spells, two races held dominion over the mystical forces that governed the world. The demons, tasked with maintaining chaos where necessary, and the holy churches, the bearers of God's word, charged with bringing peace. Their delicate balance shattered one fateful day when, for reasons still shrouded in mystery, they plunged into a war against each other.

The demons, masters of dark arts, unleashed a curse upon humanity, robbing them of peaceful death and forcing them to rise again, compelled to fight on the side of the malevolent creatures. This dark magic came to be known as revival magic, perpetuating suffering and prolonging the war. In response, the holy churches, the messengers of God, bestowed blessings upon humanity, granting them the power to wield aether, but under one condition: they must fight alongside the holy churches and strive to bring peace to the world.

The battle raged on, stretching across ages, with no end in sight. The weary humans, drained of hope and desperate for respite, approached the holy churches seeking guidance. "How can we bring an end to this war, oh great messengers of God?" they pleaded. The holy messengers, with compassion in their eyes, imparted their wisdom, "Pretend to be one with the enemy, my child. Infiltrate their kingdom and dismantle the demons from within."

With nothing left to lose, the humans embraced this audacious plan. They toiled in secrecy for days on end, disguising themselves as allies of the demons, gaining their trust, and unraveling their nefarious schemes. And finally, their stratagem bore fruit. The humans succeeded in toppling the demonic forces from within their own realm. It was a victory that resonated throughout the annals of history.

With the demons vanquished, the war ceased its relentless march. No conflict that followed would ever match its brutality and duration. The holy churches, their purpose fulfilled, ascended to the heavens, leaving behind a world no longer ravaged by war. Yet, before they departed, they bestowed a final gift upon the humans.

"Thank you for aiding the end of this bloody battle, which had raged on for untold years," spoke the messengers of God. "In gratitude, we bestow upon you the ability to harness the power of aether, so that you may protect and preserve peace wherever chaos may threaten to take hold."

And so it came to pass that humans, entrusted with the divine power of aether, became the stewards of peace in a world now liberated from the clutches of darkness. They wielded their newfound abilities with honor and integrity, seeking to mend the wounds inflicted by war and usher in an era of harmony.

Legends were born of their valor and tales of their deeds spread far and wide. Their legacy endured, a testament to the strength of the human spirit and their unwavering commitment to upholding peace. The world, once ravaged by the clash of celestial powers, found solace in the hands of those who had once been mere mortals.

And as the ages passed, the memory of the demons' curse faded into myth and legend, a cautionary tale of the consequences of unchecked power. But the humans, blessed with aether, stood steadfast, their resolve unyielding, always ready to protect and bring peace to a world that had learned to cherish the tranquility they had fought so hard to achieve.

Gareki: Whoa. That's… I really don't know what to say.

Kanako: Well many people would start to cry after hearing about the loss of so many innocent lives

I remained silent, I didn't know what to say after hearing that… to me is not as different from the different world wars we've had in my past life but I guess I should have probably showed some compassion at that time since she looked really sad while telling the story….

Unknown voice: Hey you, are you the one that dropped this shopping list? We've found it next to the corpse of a revived boar. We need to have a serious chat.
