There was but a split second's silence.
That was before I, having pulled the trigger, felt a strong vibration run down the body of the gun that almost flung me away.
At first I thought our creation would dismantle, collapse or even explode. Yet in some stroke of luck, and perhaps thankfully, due our persistence altogether, my jaw dropped in awe as a massive beam was released by it, the sound shrill then suddenly deafening that I flinched, covering my ears.
I need to get used to that boom.
We nervously watched it coruscate, before hitting to detonate upon the target area.
Success! It had landed!!
But I couldn't make up what it was that I had taken down. Had I aimed wrong?
Turns out I hadn't.
We all watched as the Alpha of the Dragon Horde broke flight, aimless and disoriented, trying to steady itself, yet it couldn't.
Its single wing could no longer support its weight. The gaping wound caused by the railgun- it caused the beast's end!
