We go about the same way we got in the first time. Louis seems to be in charge, this time around. He produces a similar pouch, fishes out the vial from it, and empties it into the palm of his hand. This time around, I'm not so dazed. So, pay attention to what Louis is doing. Carter is beside me holding a box, and I wonder how long it will take them to get everything in at this rate.
Louis places the palm of his hand on the wall, and the room glows in golden lights that emanate from the markings on the wall. At first glance, it appears to be nonsensical scribbles. As the glow dims, the markings become clearer and I realise it is writing. It's a flipping language. I make a mental note of it. I'll have at my disposal a well-stocked library. More than one. I sigh as the walls begin to shift uncovering the double doors. If I'll ever have the time, to do any of that. My hands will be so full, that I'll have to make another me to cope with the workload.
We step through the door, and Louis proceeds to draw on the door. Craning my neck to have a better view of what Louis is doing, I finally see that he is drawing the star of David to perfection with a letter in the middle. I memorise the letter. However, my artistic skills that are severely lacking.
The door clicks and opens, we step through it, and we are greeted by no one.
I know Graham and Shay are haunting this place. I know how to get to Graham wherever he might be. I just hope I won't find him in any compromising positions.
I wince at that thought and try to wipe the image my brain has just conjured up. Because it makes my blood run cold.
" This will be your temporary home," Carter begins, as we walk down the same corridor," When the gates of the academy open you'll move up with the rest of the students. So, it will only be for a few weeks," I'm glad he knows more than I do about what I'll do in the future. Mason. I want to shout but the numnuts are nowhere in sight. Off killing someone? Perhaps.
They stop in front of the door opposite the one that I had previously resided in. I turn around and walk to that one.
Opening the door, I hear the footsteps of the duo following after me, and I don't bother to take in the surroundings. I already know what's there. Not much.
" Why can't I stay in the dormitories?" The man in question is not present. So, they will have to answer for him.
" It's just a safety precaution. Until you're more....," Carter trails off and Louis gives him the side eye.
" Capable taking care of myself," I finish for him. They both turn fidgety, mumbling under their breath. And I know I'm right on the money.
Louis clears his throat and places the box on the bed with the utmost care," We will get the rest of the stuff," They both rush out of the door, and I'm left alone.
I'm a tad ticked off about the new arrangements. I do realise it is for the best. They can't babysit us forever. Enid's life is at stake and I don't know how far the Kallah will go to achieve their goal. I already know where I'll end up, but what about those who get caught in the crossfire? Enid, Laira. David and so many others.
Damn him. Mason has a point.
While Louis and Carter busied themselves bringing the rest of the boxes in. I call for Shay who appears in a blink of light, and we both disappear. The moment we materialise in the worldly plane, I stagger on my feet, and try to blink the fog in my vision. It is hot and humid, where Shay has brought me. The scent of alpine body wash hits me next and then I see Graham lounging in his bathtub.
" Hey, sweet cheeks. Nice of you to drop by," He gives me a toothy smile and winks.
I scrunch up my nose, at the image in front of me and he laughs.
"Don't knock it, until you try it," I roll my eyes and he snickers.
" I've lost my touch with the ladies. All those months in that cave have dented my mojo," He sighs. That was more to himself than for me.
" I don't know what moves you had before, but you will have to try a little harder," I sigh and lean against the bathroom wall.
" Hey. That's a bit harsh for someone who has been a hermit for nearly four months," He counters.
" If that's all it took to dent your mojo, then you had none in the first place," I counter back, and he laughs.
" Boy, you're in a mood. Period?" He asks with a quirked brow, and I roll my eyes.
" No. It's an I'm stuck in a hole underground mood,"
" I hear you, babe. Want me to comfort you?" He says with a slanted smile.
" Would stop flirting with me. That's not why I'm here," I stomp my foot, so I don't stomp his face. I don't remember him being this annoying.
" Relax. I'm just trying to lighten the mood," He says defensively, raising his arms in surrender," Sheesh," When you tell someone to relax. They never do.
" When do we start this training ?" Now that he is done monkeying around. I go straight to the point.
" All business and no pleasure. You're no fun," I'm on the verge of bursting a blood vessel, just like Eric.
" We start early. Be ready at four. And call for Shay. " He finally says in a more serious tone.
" You need to lighten up. Or you'll end up having a stroke or something, " And I'm about to kick him for real this time.
" I will lighten up once I'm allowed to leave this hole," I pout. I'm not exactly happy about it. As it turns out, it's just another thing that I have to do.
"It's only for a few weeks. And we will have fun. I promise. Don't be all doom and gloom," He lightly chides and I sigh. There is no hope for the man.
