In the secret world, Ram travelled towards the mountain villa and, after some time, entered Room Number 5, the one that was empty. He stood there for some time, and after some basic warmup exercises, he started to do the basic fighting movements. He tried every fighting pose that he learned from the scroll, and slowly, as the time flew, he started to get a better understanding of fighting postures and movements. Initially, he was very awkward, though he had an understanding of the techniques, but he was doing them for the first time, so it took some time, and by the end of the day, he had exhausted himself by making himself familiar with the techniques. He rested for some time and had a simple meal, and while having the meal, he realised something. and instantly stood up.
What Ram realised was very simple and basic; he had observed in the day that even though he had a full understanding of the technique, it still took him some time to become familiar with it. Why was that? Because he just realised there is something called the body clock. Just like having a meal while doing some other activity is not difficult, it's not because he is fully focused on eating; he could still look somewhere else and still eat while every hand movement coordination actually automatically puts the food in his mouth. Why didn't his hand move towards the eyes, nose, or ears while eating? It was because he had been eating three times a day for many years on earth, and automatically his body adjusted the actions of his hand to his mouth. So why can't this be done by the fighting technique?
It just means that he needs to be more familiar and make the body and fighting technique one; it should be like his body can naturally react and act accordingly even if he is not focused on the fighting. It should be as simple as eating while being occupied with something else.
So Ram went up after having the meal and walked for some time in the secret world, and after a few hours, he started again with his fighting technique. He now wanted to focus on fighting while having his eyes closed, so he tied a cloth around his eyes and started to only familiarise himself with the fighting technique.
He went on with his routine of walking up, doing the universe cultivation, followed by the fighting technique practise, and after being in the secret world for half a year, he could proudly say that his body was tuned with the fighting technique.
"I am familiar with fighting technique now, but I think to progress, I should use a weapon and have some opponents for practise."
He then exited the secret world, and in the Rudra world, it was early morning, and there were still a few days before he could complete his monthly stay mission, and the mysterious merchant was also supposed to come on the last day of the month.
So he went to the forest area and started with his wood cutting job. He used an axe and chopped a tree down, and after further dissecting it into multiple small pieces, he came back to the storage hall and supplied them with all the remaining days wood and informed them about his absence for the next few days. He then went to the market area, and after still not having any luck with any workers willing to work with him, he left for his home, and immediately after locking the doors, he entered the secret world.
In the villa of Room 3, Ram observed many different types of weapons. Some time ago, Aster went close to an axe, picked it up, and tried swinging it.
"I am very familiar with the axe because of my daily work of wood chopping, but I feel it's not right for me."
He then went and tried various different types of weapons, including a dagger, bow and arrow, mace, sabre, sword, sythe, halberd, spear, and hammer.
After trying all the weapons for some time, he narrowed them down to a select few.
Swords and sabres are good weapons, but I feel they are not multipurpose.
The weapon that I wield should be like an extension of my body. If I am using a weapon, I would like my enemy or opponent to be at a little distance from me. So only tall-length multipurpose weapons are suited for me.
After trying all the tall-length weapons, Ram narrowed down his weapon to be a halberd or a spear.
To be honest, his first choice was a bow and arrow. He felt certain types of closeness to the bow and arrow; it's just that he felt the bow and arrow being the main weapon was not the right choice, so he kept it aside. After trying both the halberd and spear with their wielding techniques, he observed that the halberd was a very good weapon, but it needed him to shift the balance of weight from the weapon to the body stance to properly use it.
"This is not what is called being an extension of the body; being an extension of the body shouldn't be something where I need to constantly shift the body weight to wield a weapon."
While using the spear, he actually liked it very much, and it fulfilled his purpose of keeping him a little away from the enemy during a fight.
So at last, Ram locked the spear as his main weapon, the bow and arrow as his secondary weapon, and a small dagger as a hidden weapon.
Though he was not a coward, he would prefer to attack from a distance, and if it could be done without being seen, that was the best thing. So Ram felt a bow and arrow was an excellent choice.
A spear could be used to stab, slash, or parry while keeping him a little away from the enemy, and still, a fight is not always like 1+1 is equal to 2, so anything could be possible, so he kept a dagger in case the enemy entered close to him while ignoring his spear or in case he lost the main weapon, so for extreme close combat, a dagger was an excellent choice.
