Chapter 23 - silhouette

Cyrus

I walked through the bustling city streets, my royal attire replaced by a simple cloak and a hood concealing my features. The city was alive with a symphony of sounds and vibrant colors, its energy captivating and invigorating.

The scents of the city enveloped him as I walked, blending into the crowd. With each step, I could feel at peace in my kingdom.

It has been so long, o long since I walked these streets.

After my return from the hidden sanctum, I have been hardly at home, as I had gone to search for the witch.

I hadn't realized how much I was missing this place, this city. It is my home.

Just walking in my kingdom, taking in the beauty of it. It brings joy to me.

I should have come outside sooner, there is so much left to see.

I will make sure to explore the rest of the city, once I have the time.

I am only here now because I am here to meet someone.

Someone who will be able to get me closer to 'the shadow'.

I know it will not be an easy task to find the notorious criminal that easily. But I will need all the information I can find.

My meeting with the person still has much time left, so I might as well explore the streets.

My disguise allowed me to move freely among the people, unnoticed as a prince. I weaved through the labyrinthine streets; these streets are as familiar to me as the back of my hand.

As me and Oliver used to visit the city in disguise just like this.

We used to have so much fun together.

Now he is off to the mission without me.

I stopped my whining and let my focus rest on the sights in front of me.

As I ventured deeper into the city, the weight of my responsibilities as a future ruler momentarily lifted my shoulders, replaced by a sense of adventure and curiosity.

The city buzzed with activity, with merchants hawking their wares, musicians playing melodies that danced in the air, and the delightful aromas of food wafting from street stalls.

As I walked among the throngs of people, I marveled at the vibrant tapestry of life unfolding before me. The air was alive with the chatter of merchants, the melodies of street musicians, and the enticing aromas wafting from food stalls.

After some time, I made my way to the place I was going. To meet the person who will bring me closer to unraveling the secrets.

As I was walking by, I stopped in my tracks.

There was something in the alley.

I turned around quickening my pace.

And there, in a desolate alley, my eyes widened as I beheld a sight that stirred a fierce protective instinct within me.

There was a girl, she stood as three thugs loomed over her.

I could only see her silhouette, but I knew in my heart who it was.
