. ALEX'S POV
The unwelcoming dark walls welcomed me from my unconscious state for only God knows how long. The roof looked dilapidated as I looked up from where I lay covered in an old-looking cloth. The stench of hard penetrative herbal medicine evaded through my nose as I smelt its vapour invading the already poor-looking room. I was overly covered with semi-grinded herbal leaves and I could spot various concoctions all semi-circled around me.
"Where was I? " I thought.
I tried getting up amidst the irritating squeaking bed but I fell cowardly back on the unfortunate bed. I was weak and it was as if I was drained of all the strength in me.
I tried to peek through the window but the filthy curtain obstructed my view. Nonetheless, I resolved to get up again but this time with an upgraded strength. I was up and sitting on the bed within seconds.
I hobbled to the door due to pain. I pushed open the door and it swung open with a loud creak of its rusty winges.
A young lady's face welcomed me as she looked surprised at seeing me. She had a nicely shaped body and an attractive face. I wondered why such a beauty lived in this place. She quickly approached me and helped me to their old-looking sofa. I sat down and still wondered where I was. I had already asked that question when she broke the silence.
"Do you care for some water dear?" She said sounding eager.
"Yes please but before that, who are you? Where am I and why am I here? I asked anxiously releasing a mild cough.
She absentmindedly ignored me and headed to a place that looked like a kitchen and came back with a glass of water.
"Here you go," she said as she double-handedly gave me the water.
I took a sip and returned the glass.
"Would you mind answering my questions please" I desperately asked.
"Oh yeah sorry about that. I'm Lydia. I live here with my husband Mr. Amo. He saved you from drowning in the river below the bridge, it seems your car crushed and fell into the river. You've been in a coma for a week now. It's a miracle you've woken by now as the doctor explained that you were gonna be in this state for a couple of weeks..." The lady explained as a bewildered look drew on my face.
Simultaneously, a series of flashbacks streamed into my head as I recalled the series of incidents that happened that day, from the news I heard behind the door, to the chase and the crash.
"Kelvin!!!" the name unconsciously slipped from my mouth.
"Who's Kelvin?" A male husky voice said from behind.
I turned to look at the anonymous voice. Stood behind me was a tall built dark-skinned man. He wore a faded black shirt with dirty trousers as he stood in his camp boot. He held a machete and a small sack slung across his shoulder...
I turned to Mrs Lydia to give her a quizzical look to inquire if that was her husband and she nodded in affirmative.
"That was one heck of a ride and a thin line between you and death "Mr.Amo, had said after I had narrated my plight to him and his wife.
"So you mean you remember where Kelvin was held captive?" Mr Amo eagerly inquired raising his brows.
"Yes, I do remember the place, an old abandoned house situated somewhere on the outskirts of the town. We gotta do something to free Kelvin. I only could imagine what Daphne and Jackie may be going through now since our tragic disappearances. I answered looking worried.
"Don't worry man, once you fully recover we will save your brother. For now, we must not rush into things, there should be no room for mistakes at this point." Mr.Amo encouraged.
Mrs Lydia had left for the kitchen to prepare something for us to eat throughout my conversation with Mr Amo, sooner she called us to the dining table. I hobbled again to the dining table. Even though the food was not as I expected, it had a Mouth-watering aroma. I tried serving myself but I had stopped halfway to the bowl.
"No sir you can't have that, you can't consume spicy food at the moment. The doctor had prescribed us to do so once you get conscious. Here you go, this is specially for you" She said as she handed me the bowl of food.
I was irritated by its smell already, I took a morsel of the food as I groaned in disgust as the food look much sick than myself.
KELVIN'S POV
I felt like giving up already. I could vividly remember the dreadful scenes that night after my attempted unsuccessful escape, they had tied me tightly to the chair this time and informed Jeoffery about my attempt to flee from their grudges. Sooner, he showed up in front of me. One could easily spot the rage in Jeoffery's eyes and would tell that we were enemies our entire lives than being friends.
A tremor of pain had vibrated through my core after the immense hits from Jeoffery on me as a punishment. I was immobile for a while lying in the same position they had left me to bleed. I had tried to get up but was restrained by the ropes tied around my hand. It was more like a death sentence as I was also tortured with electric shocks. This was just a minor crime, I had just tried to escape and nothing else, there was no need to torture me as such. Besides my attempt to escape was not even successful if it wasn't for my pitiful countenance to help the anonymous voice. I had felt more disgust and rage for Jeoffery at that point because I had now realised he had really betrayed me.
Laying immobile for a while, I heard a beep. One which sounded like a phone message notification. I had already ignored the sound and thought that I was hallucinating till I heard a second beep. I became sure as it beeped for the third time. I scanned my eyes around the room to trace the sounds. I almost stopped searching when my eyes spotted a small dim light emanating from a small object.
I raised myself still tied to the chair and galloped to the light source. It was a phone, a small one to be precise. I needed to use this opportunity.
"I can reach Daphne through this phone," I thought.
I let myself on the floor with the rope still tied to my legs and arm. I couldn't use my hands to operate the phone. I was tied hard this time. The only option was to use my mouth. Non-hesitantly, double tapped the screen with my mouth and it switched on, I then slid my mouth from below the screen upwards to unlock the screen. Lo and behold it was unlocked without password requirements.
I struggled to dial Daphne's number but was soon through with it. I halted for a while and contemplated on making a call or not.
"No, I shouldn't make a call. They might overhear me." I thought
I then thought of sending a message instead.
With my mouth, I struggled as I typed the letters. Even though I misspelt them, I continued to type only God knows what.
Just then the door burst open. And I gasped
It was a guard, he entered and looked at me seated in the tightly tied chair as they left me. He scanned the room and spotted the phone and left.
I sighed in relief as he left. I just hope this reaches Daphne and she understands it
