AGREEMENT IS AN AGREEMENT "
When I questioned what she was doing over there, she had come out of some sort of trance. She then scrambled her hands into the closet, inserting something I couldn't see.
She eventually adjusted her position and turned to face me.
"Bae, I inquired what you were doing. I inquired once more.
"Oh, I.....I.....I...was just looking through my jewelry because I misplaced one of them." She stuttered and then said quickly.
"All right, here you go. "Take a sip." I handed her a glass of water, and she enthusiastically drank it.
"Thank you very much, dear," she replied as she handed me the glass back.
I set the glass down and drew her close wrapping my arms around her.
"Don't worry, dear; I'm going to make sure Gloria pays for everything she's done to you and your family."
You've been through a lot since your mother's death, and you shouldn't have to go through it again." I encouraged her while soothingly patting her back.
"I promise not to keep anything from you in the future to avoid any future misunderstandings," I added.
"It's alright, dear, thanks for the words," she finally said up.
She grinned and let go of the hug."You wouldn't keep me all day, would you?"
"Hahaha, rest up, dear; I'll make you lunch soon." Now stay here and don't go." I took her to the bed and placed a light blanket over her.
She was flushed. "I love you, " "I love you even more," I responded as I kissed her cheek and walked away.
As much as I was thrilled to see her okay, I was having difficulty believing her words. She was sobbing previously, and now she's obsessed with finding her jewelry? That would be an abrupt mood shift.
"I guess it's not such a big deal; what could she possibly be hiding from me?" I thought as I walked into the kitchen.
I flipped on the toaster and began toasting. I took five eggs from the fridge, broke them, and poured them into the frying pan. I was starving, and I hadn't eaten anything since the morning.
Our morning was welcomed by the presence of Mr.Amo and his wife and we were so engrossed with our conversation that we hardly thought of breakfast.
Jackie wasn't well enough to make breakfast and Daphne too had consistently being hovering at the Police station daily.
I now had to take charge and make something for myself and her...
JEOFFERY'S POV
It was six-thirty at night and the city's loud gossip had died down. While others were finishing their rush, others rushed in to rule their night. The famous club, known as the 5th Ave Club, was where the city's hushed chatter revived.
Here the holiest, innocent ladies resume their work as strippers. As a substitute for a drink, bartenders usually bring wine and substitute drinks.
Customers are extremely busy. Everyone with a burning desire to be content. Either to watch a stripper dance on his lap or drown themselves in alcohol.
In particular, I was a regular customer who was known to all but freshman strippers. That's my first place of comfort when home abandons me.But this time I wasn't there for the strippers, I was there to drink my head off.
For some reason I couldn't drink the way I wanted. I only fired two shots and I was still sober. I was about to take another shot when my phone beeped. It was a message.
"Where are you? Come back home now. We have to discuss something." It read. It was from Gloria.
"What is it now?" I wondered.
I got out of my seat and walked outside to my car. The loud music and chants died away as I opened the club's gate and shut it behind me.
I got inside the car, started the motor, and drove away. As I drove, the night was still alive. Couples were seen walking down the street hand in hand, taking romantic strolls. My thoughts returned to Gloria, and I wondered why she had called and asked me to come right now.
I kept my gaze fixed on the road and the rearview mirror the entire time. I made a left turn and returned my attention to the rearview mirror. My suspicion was validated.
I was indeed being watched. I had noticed a black SUV following me since I began driving, but I was still unsure until I decided to make an abrupt turn to test if it would follow, and it did.
I grinned. "Who could it be?" And why on earth is he following me?"
I became enraged.
"I guess it's time to kick some ass and show who rules over this territory."
I pondered...
I stepped on the gas and opened up a large gap between us. He also stepped on more behind me because he didn't want to lose me.
He was clearly after me now. I had a strategy. I turned into an alleyway and came to a screeching halt. I ran away and hid behind a rubbish can.
The SUV eventually parked near the alleyway's entrance. After a minute, a tall light-skinned man dressed entirely in black stepped down.
He pulled out a revolver and began slowly approaching and aiming at my car.
"What the hell does he want?" I wondered again.
He had approached my car and was now checking the area around it, looking for anything unusual. I had to take advantage of the opportunity. He opened the driver's door and discovered it was empty.
His expression indicated that he was bewildered.
He was now in the center of the alleyway.
"Come on out!!" "I know you're here somewhere."
He stated aloud.
"I just want to talk," he explained.
I jumped out of my hiding spot and leveled my revolver at him.
"I'm here, and you can speak now." I spoke quickly, and he turned to face me.
"Calm down, man, and put down your gun." "I just dropped off a package for you." He said this as he slowly lowered his gun and kicked it in my direction.
"Parcel? "Which parcel?" I wondered.
" I'm one of Gloria's clients, and I'd like you to deliver this package to her." I saw you in the club but you fled before I could catch up, so I followed you."
He responded convincingly.
When I found it persuasive, I also dropped my gun.
"Let me have it," I said loudly as I stepped in closer.
"Here you go," he said, pulling something from his pocket and hurling it at me.
My gaze was drawn to the flying object in the air. Meanwhile, my other eye had seen the impending threat.
He had swiftly taken out his spare support gun and pressed it against me while tossing the unidentified thing, but I was quick to crouch and go in his direction, galloping on him and knocking him to the ground.
When he got the chance to be on me, he retaliated with fists all over my face. He had already won for a time because his punches made me weak.
He pulled out his revolver and leveled it at me, preparing to shoot me on the ground. I flipped the rifle from his grip and booted him in the groin with my leg. I swiftly sprang up and stabbed him repeatedly with a knife-like metal item till he dropped on the floor, his life ebbing from him.
I delved into his pockets and pulled out something my hand had touched; an ID card.
The name "Inspector Davis" was written on the back.
I smirked, slipped it into my pocket, and immediately drove away from the scene in my automobile.
The night proceeded with Gloria nagging me about being almost caught.
JACKIE'S POV
My mind was made up, and no one could have prevented me from doing what I needed to do to save Kelvin. Before I arrived, I had placed a dummy on my bed and covered it with a blanket as a disguise to hide my disappearances from Alex. I really hope he doesn't get suspicious.
Gloria had not arrived thirty minutes after four o'clock.
"Was she playing tricks on me?" I performed a soliloquy.
A dark Benz automobile zoomed in and parked in front of me. Gloria walked out, and I breathed a sigh of relief.
The other door opened, and the unexpected demon came out.
I clenched my hand in wrath as I saw him. But I kept my calm.
"It will soon be over." I reasoned
Gloria approached me with a phony smile. " We apologize for keeping you waiting. We had an equally vital task to complete."
She screamed.
"Can we finish this, madam?" "After waiting thirty minutes in this underground parking lot, I'm not in the mood for discussions." I cut her off.
She smiled." Alright, then, hand over the briefcase." Gloria gave the order.
"Not until I see Kelvin," I paused.
"You have intelligence. "I like that," she exclaimed, astonished.
" Okay, dear, let her," she said as Jeoffery approached their automobile.
I was astonished when he opened the trunk of the automobile. Kelvin was trapped in the boot, his limbs and legs bound with garments.
I dropped the briefcase and dashed over to Kelvin in the car to hug him. When I arrived, I removed the garments from his lips, allowing him to talk freely. I was so engrossed that I forgot about the briefcase in front of Gloria.
"What have you done, Jackie? I told you not to come. Kelvin took a stand.
"Do you have what you want now?" "Can I have my brother right now?" I turned to face Gloria, who was already holding the briefcase.
"Of course, Jackie, an agreement is an agreement," she responded as she continued to scrutinize the briefcase.
Seriously? I stupidly inquired but received no response.
Fortunately, I was able to start riding him from the ties. I loosened his hands and transferred my attention to his legs. His legs were quite tight.
I was resolved to untangle the knot. I was almost finished when Kelvin yelled.
"Watch out, Jackie!" A spasm of pain surged through my spine before I could turn around. Now I could feel the car's boot hitting my back again and violently crushing me against Kelvin's body until I felt no need to yell or move.
