***NoTe
As I walk out onto the fighting stage. I see Rev in the stands rooting for me with a bowl of popcorn in his hand. Without him I don't think I would've gotten this far. There is no help this time.
If I lose it's my fault if I die it's my fault. Rev isn't here as a backup just as a fan.
I start out by bringing out the chains. I can't stick them into any walls because the arena is too wide spread for that. I wrap them around my arms and legs to give a boost to my defensive and offensive stats.
I blitz behind Kyle and hit him with a left hook at his temple. Then I rush at him again and throw a uppercut which he barely blocks. I wrap the chains around his legs and bring him back to the ground.
I use triple threat on him which works and sends him flying. Right after that I realized that this has been going too easily for me. This is the first opponent that has ever made me worry.
So why am I winning so easily. I realized that to late though as 3 traps activate in sync with each other. I protect myself with the chains from 1 of the poison traps. I get hit by the other two though.
I use the smoke from debris as a cover. For the second then try to track down Kyle. What I didn't expect is for him to be hiding in the smoke as well.
We keep going through exchanges in hand to hand combat. I usually use a mix of Muay Thai and Capoeira. It hasn't been working this time though. His technique isn't better his skills aren't better. He just has more overall mana than me.
His traps aren't making this any better for me either. I can overwhelm him with pure technique but I can't land a finishing blow. I need better mana refinement. Instead of it being stable and tense. It needs to flow and be smooth like water. It needs to constantly be flowing out like a flooded dam.
I can hear all the traps being activated. I dodge all of them and appear behind Kyle. Hitting him in his pressure points in his arm. Which for right now will stop him from pouring mana out there. I'll take that arm from him permanently now. My attack should've worked but this man Kyle has way more experience than me.
So not once has his mind wavered from him winning this match. He turns around and sends a kick straight at my solar plexus. I go from flying and bounce off the ground. I can't breathe. I'm bleeding from my head blood pouring all over my blindfold and mask.
"You are pretty good for someone who is still a teenager. However, you aren't good enough to beat me. You don't even have an mana technique. You'll need one before you challenge someone like me." Kyle says.
Kyle starts walking away. I look up and see Baku with a disappointed face looking down on me. I see Rev looking at me he's mouthing words to me.
" NoTe get up right now and show these people exactly how Stitch taught you how to win. " Rev said.
As soon as he says that I remember something Stitch told me.
" NoTe your mana is basically formless because of your shadows. That is why you can't form a mana technique because they all have forms. However, something that is formless can potentially be formed into anything. Give your aura it's own form." Stitch said.
I start laughing like a manic and say.
" Thank you Kyle you've given me an enlightenment. You need to stop running away though because, we aren't done."
I force my aura to get real cold. As ice starts forming around my body I can sense the fear in Kyle start building up. "Aisuburēdo" I say.
I blitz Kyle and slice his arm with the Ice blade I just made. He tries using a poison trap against but I've been freezing everything that comes in contact with me.
I don't even need to chase Kyle because as soon as I took his arm the match was over. I froze all the blood that came gushing out his arm so it froze the rest in his body. He's standing there in a permanent cryostasis.
I start walking out the arena but before I leave I yell out to the audience. " if someone wants they can take him as a trophy." I start feeling heavy and exhausted. I guess this is mana exhaustion. This happened to Rev the first time he used his mana technique.
I've never expierenced it because with no mana technique you should almost never run out of mana. As mana is important to live. It's the same as breathing.
As I walk out the arena hall I see Rev and Baku waiting for me. " Welcome to the 100 rankings NoTe I hope you reach higher heights."
" How much money did my squad make?" I say.
" They made over a million. I don't know what you used to have them make so much money but keep doing it. I'll see you later."
As he walks away as soon as he is out of sight I take off the mana watch and allow the shadows to heal me.
" You were the perfect person for Stitch to pass down his technique to. I'm proud of you for winning" Rev says.
When Stitch gave me that mana technique book it must've been based on his technique.
"Thank you Rev. Sunday I'll pressure rank 81 to challenge you if he says no then I'll take his head."
Rev laughs and helps me to the cafeteria. I have a whole feast all different types of food from everywhere. I get gifts from other rankers from making it.
Mostly the other people in the 80s. Then as soon as possible I start training my mana technique more. Mainly because during my match I saw Rev's father out the corner of my eye.
All it took was eye contact from him to feel the flames from there. It was clear how powerful a person from the doom family is. What pissed me off though is that he was right behind Rev and didn't acknowledge his own son. I'll force him to acknowledge Rev no matter what.
