Chapter 10 - ORDINARY VISAGE-13

"What do you mean by that?"

Aqua asked as if she had done nothing wrong. I raised an eyebrow. I drew my sword again, but Aqua quickly dropped the sword I was holding. The scene unfolded in an instant, I was only able to stare at the empty air in front of me in bewilderment. Aqua clapped her dusty palms together and sighed. "I'm disappointed in you Abby. I warned you not to meet the King."

I already said that I didn't meet the King, but it seemed like Aqua was too lazy to believe my lies. "So what if I meet the King? You and the others even let me know nothing. Whose fault do you think this is?"

she glared. "Now you want to blame me?"

"You demand that I be honest, but you're full of tricks yourself," I said while laughing, embarrassed at Aqua's annoying presence. "You and I are both liars."

She fell silent. He looked at the damp ground for a long time. I don't know what he did, but I spoke again. "Who are you? You didn't even answer my question earlier," I said, "from today on, I won't wait for your honesty, Aqua."

"I don't have the right to tell you everything, Abby." Aqua suddenly spoke up after pondering for a long time with a stupid look. "Only Amyas has the right to say anything."

"Everything?" I repeated the part in surprise, "Doesn't everything mean that the thing you guys are hiding is something big?"

Aqua was taken aback, she couldn't even meet my eyes. "I can't answer that."

"See? Someone like you hopes to gain my trust?" I laughed dryly, looking at Aqua's face which could no longer describe what expression it was. He looked panicked, angry and also sad. I don't know what emotion predominated on her face, but one thing I know from her today. "It's like you said back then, Aqua. All you've said today is nothing but meaningless words. Why would I believe your empty words, hm?"

I walked away disgusted. Suddenly the memory of ginger candy came back into my brain. Most likely, Aqua had indeed poisoned me with her ginger candy. I clenched my fists. Starting today, Aqua was one who should not be trusted at all.

"Abby."

I stopped my steps. Aqua's voice entered my ears clearly. "You're still not satisfied arguing with me?" I asked curtly.

Aqua remained silent at my question. I was about to take another step, starting to feel even hotter from the girl's unclear behavior, but Aqua's words made me freeze.

"The king is after you, Abby."

—Ordinary Visage—

The king will revive the power of the Goddess of the North later when the full moon returns, which means I still have plenty of time to escape. First I had to master weapons and ride a horse, in case I was serious about escaping. Then the second, I have to steal a lot of food and maybe also money or a sack of gold—if that's possible—then, the third is, taking Stupid Shiloh away, because maybe that man is made the King's worship, or it could be more sadistic than that. Alright, how can I borrow a sword in this palace?

Don't get me wrong, I already tried to borrow a sword from one of the soldiers, but I was only glanced at without interest like reeds that weren't worth selling, even some soldiers openly said that women shouldn't hold swords that were considered mighty. They advised me to go back into the kitchen to peel the potatoes, which obviously made me very emotional.

I saw Shiloh and Amyas practicing swords with other warriors in the field. The good thing was today, I didn't meet Aqua. I don't know where he went or what he was doing, because it's none of my business. Since that night, to be honest, I feel that my death is getting closer. Do people who died before have premonitions like this? I don't know. But even if that's the case, allow me to escape before I die, Lord.

A soldier fell, so did the sword he was holding. I immediately snapped out of my reverie and took the sword. Some of the soldiers looked at me sharply, as if I was snatching a treasure—even though this sword had been stained with acid sweat—they approached me while holding their swords. I was quite scared, but I tried to roll my body backwards, like when I fought Boston while holding the fallen sword, then turned my body 360 degrees while brandishing the sword. The soldiers backed away in shock, apparently amazed by my perfunctory stunt.

"When you raise your sword, it means you are declaring war."

I looked up, staring disinterestedly at a man with long, blond hair. His chest was wide and broad, to the point that his shirt looked tight. It's possible that she has a great interest in tiny clothes, but I don't want to know. "You talking to me, sir?"

That one wasn't that old, he was probably about the same age as the King, around thirty years old. I called him sir because it annoyed me to have to look up to see his face.

"Take the sword from the little girl," whispered the blonde haired man. A more burly warrior drew his sword, but I held it down.

"Please remove the sword, Miss." The soldier spoke politely, but I didn't want to obey him. I looked at the tall, blonde haired man. "I'll let this thing go if you guys teach me how to practice swords!"

silence. I could see Shiloh panicking while Amyas watched quietly. I held the blade still, grateful to the world for now holding the blunt end. "I want one of you to teach me how to sword."

The blonde man stared at me intently. There was no expression whatsoever on his face. It looks very boring. "I don't have time to play around. Take off the sword and come back with the other girls."

"I don't want to!" I snapped. The man gasped. I still hold the sword. The soldiers looked annoyed, I'm sure they wanted to nail my head as hard as they could. I defend my intention. I should be able to defend myself with a sword. I must be able to.

The blonde haired man whose name I didn't know earlier combed his hair back, looking down at me. I looked at him with emotion. "What do you want with a sword, miss?"

I chuckled. "I'll let you know if you can teach me."

He raised an eyebrow. "Of course I can teach you, but are you able to accept learning materials from me?"

I don't like studying, but this time I have to.

"What do you think?" I asked back.

The man shrugged. "I think you better back off. Make your peace with us before I change my mind."

"Change of mind, huh?" I smiled crookedly while they laughed belittling me, I quickly stabbed the sleeve of his small white shirt to tear, while the practice field was now silent. The man in front of me flinched. His eyes stared at me intently, ready to mince my body until it's finished. I still show myself full of confidence, even though I feel sorry and want to run away now.

"What's your name?" asked the blonde haired man. I swallowed hard, my courage somehow evaporated. "My name is Abby."

The man smiled as he held out his hand. "From today, call me Mr. Kaltain," he said softly, bowing to my ear. "I'm ready to tutor a naughty girl like you, Abby."

I know what a dangerous situation this is in, but I chuckle in response, as if I'm not feeling tense at all. "Very well, Lord Kaltain. Then teach me how to use the sword until I am proficient."

"With pleasure."

I sighed tiredly when Mr. Kaltain and his soldiers left me. The sword is no longer in my hand. Shiloh ran up to me, he shook my shoulder with a face of obvious panic. I stared blankly with a mind that was no longer clear. I can't believe it, it turns out that all this time I've been looking for problems in my own life.

"Are you crazy, huh?! Lord Kaltain is the Warlord of the Kingdom of Samu! Hey, can't you hear me? You're crazy!" Shiloh screamed in my ears. I looked up at the shaded evening sky, feeling very, very lifeless. "I'm crazy, Shiloh."

"Therefore, stop your madness! Tell Mr. Kaltain right now that you were just kidding!" he insisted. He still likes to give my life back, but I can only laugh stupidly.

Shiloh freaked out this afternoon. His eyes looked at me worriedly. I smile. "I'm not going to stop everything, Shiloh."

"Why, Cav?" he whispered softly. I paused for a moment, then sighed. cav. Caviar. I want to be called that again. "I want to go home with you, Shiloh." []
