Chapter 12 - ORDINARY VISAGE-11

The Persian cat in front of me is curled up. Skinny like not being fed. On the side of his body, there was a rather tight, drained slash. I glanced here and there, afraid that someone would catch me this afternoon. Apparently when it's late afternoon, people prefer to be indoors. I carried the white fur cat quickly, then looked for a fairly safe place.

I didn't see Shiloh, Amyas and Aqua again after this morning. I chose to avoid them for now. Earlier today, I skipped lunch and locked myself in the room. I saw that there was a big tree far away in the palace garden. I sat under the tree while hiding myself. The cat I was holding was writhing tiredly. I took the yellow-eyed cat on my lap and fed him a candy.

Aqua's magic ginger candy.

The cat in my lap actually immediately licked the ginger candy slowly, as if the candy tasted pleasantly sweet, even though it felt its tongue burning because it was too spicy. I waited patiently for the cat's other reaction, in case it might vomit.

But who would have thought that the cat actually swallowed the candy I put in my palm. He put his head in my hand without suspecting what candy the human gave him. I held the cat up high, studied its face carefully, looking for any oddities that might exist. The cat meowed softly. I sighed, then immediately put the cat behind the bush.

"I looked for you everywhere."

Amyas had come from nowhere. I looked at him suspiciously. "Since when were you there?"

he chuckled. "Pretend I just came."

"Okay, I don't care either."

Amyas glanced at the cat I had hidden behind the bushes. He took the cat and stroked it. "This is the first time I see you. What's your name?"

I raised an eyebrow. "It's just a scrawny cat. Does it have a name?"

"Your words hurt this cat," Amyas muttered. He gave me some pills—I don't know what they were—and the cat happily accepted them. I doubted if the cat would survive to tomorrow, because I had poisoned it earlier. "What did you give him?"

"It's food," said Amyas. He put the cat on his lap, then let the cat snort at his rather thick clothes. "I can't possibly poison a creature like him."

"Tch, your pocket is always on standby like that, huh?" I said annoyed. "You saw me earlier, right?"

"What are you looking at?"

I spit harshly. I looked at him with emotion. "What do you mean?"

Amyas looked at me with raised eyebrows. His brow furrowed. I pulled the man's collar tightly, "Tell me, what did you see?"

Amyas chuckled. He didn't answer anything. He just kept quiet and looked at me stupidly. Even his stupidity rivals hundreds of idiotic humans out there. "If you don't say anything, I'll take you as a liar!"

"Liar? Why should I be treated like that?"

"Because you left me in the dark you bastard!"

Suddenly the cat in Amyas's lap flew its fingers at me, leaving scratch marks on my skin. Amyas immediately removed the cat carefully, then helped me who was holding back the pain. I didn't expect that cat to take revenge on me.

"Are you okay?"

My emotions are ignited. "You don't have any other questions besides that, huh?!" I said annoyed, "See? The cat has represented you to hurt me. Satisfied?"

Amyas said nothing. He grabbed my hand and pulled me away. "Where would you like to take me?"

I gasped when Amyas immediately doused my wound with a glass of water. The water felt very cold against my skin. I tried to struggle but Amyas grabbed my hand. "Don't move. It won't take long."

His words were enough to calm me down. Amyas finally let go of his grip and let me

stupidly silent.

"I didn't see anything if you want to know," said Amyas suddenly, "even if I saw something, I would act like I didn't see anything."

"Then that means you saw something, right?" I said. "Then I want you to act ignorant forever."

"What I saw today is nothing important. I will make sure my lips are sealed."

"Yes, if you can until you die like that."

Amyas looked at me with wide eyes when I finished my last sentence. He sighed. "Also, watching you get clawed back wasn't what I wanted."

"Then whose will, idiot? The cat? That's what you mean?"

"Abby, I had no intention of hurting you at all."

"Tomorrow there will be," I said, "no one can be trusted with the words of a human. You know that."

"Yes, I know that for sure. But I am not one of them."

I chuckled at that. "Not one of them? So you're an angel? A devil? A devil?"

Amyas did not answer. He even smeared my wound with a drug that I do not know what. What is clear is that the ointment is a smelly mint green. "It doesn't matter about me. What I want to emphasize here is that you can trust me."

"Is it true?" I began to feel the man in front of me began to look attractive. "You dare die for me?"

Amyas smiled. Out of nowhere, he got a knife and thrust it into his neck. Blood flowed from his neck. I opened my mouth wide, while my eyes stared in disbelief. Moreover, Amyas immediately wiped the blood casually, as if it was nothing unusual, and the stab wound on his neck disappeared. "You believe now?"

I clenched my fists, trying my best to control my expression. Amyas smiled as usual, perhaps hoping I would calm down a bit, but I couldn't anymore. I no longer trust anyone.

—Ordinary Visage—

Everything went unreasonably. I couldn't believe this place was still in Greece—just as Aqua had said back then—I even had thoughts that the place I was stepping on was another world. I can't find any sanity in this place, especially when Amyas did his crazy action in front of me yesterday. Well, humans can do crazy things like that, but normal humans should die. I secretly assumed that Amyas really wasn't human. But what kind of creature was he? I've never met a creature other than a human, so meeting a creature that looks like a human made me a little surprised and

nauseous.

Amyas' group seemed to be laughing far away, while I hid and chose not to mingle with them. This morning everything went well, it's just that my curiosity is getting bigger every day. The palace people walked busily carrying large ceramic containers that I don't know what they were, some of them carrying jars clutched in front of their chests. Then I also saw court classical music players whose clothes were wrapped in cloth without sewing gracefully plucking the strings, showing their exquisite beauty. I walked away from there. Yesterday Aqua said not to meet the King. I wonder why can't that be? I've only seen him the night of the awakening and ended up unconscious for a week. How powerful and powerful is this King who dares to seize the power of the Goddess of the North? What made him afraid of people?

I kept walking looking for a place where I could meet the king. Several guards walked back and forth, while I kept hiding behind a large, shiny flower vase. There were hardly any ordinary people on this highest floor. All the doors were silent and unguarded, but strangely the soldiers walked incoherently around the halls. I can't help but have to wait for them all to leave for a while—because I might take turns on guard for breakfast—and I'll quickly search the room.

I immediately ran with my noisy shoes on the soft carpet in the hallway. Some of the soldiers luckily didn't see where I was headed. I quickly chose a passage that seemed quiet—most likely the King's room should not be disturbed by other people—then hid myself when I heard the guard's footsteps with a sword in his pocket. I found a large tall double door. On the right and left are carved with pictures of angels, like scenes in heaven. I made sure no one saw me, then I slowly tried to open the door with both hands. I saw a large, very bright room welcoming me. Fragrant aroma of soft fragrance like female powder penetrates my sense of smell. The roof of the room immediately displays the sky, covered with a very thin glass. In the center of the room was a large, red-leafed tree, towering so high that it was the only part that was not covered with glass, leaving a hole in the middle. The tree had hard branches the color of light caramel. At first glance it looks very realistic. I dipped my hand in the fountain next to the tree, feeling a cold sensation tickling my hand. This room looked quiet and safe, but I felt watched.

"Have you had fun playing in my room?"

I gasped. My body almost fell into the fountain, but quickly the person in front of me caught me. I looked at his face in disbelief. He stood towering before me. Those sharp copper eyes stared at me wistfully. Her white skin was exposed to the warm morning light. He smiled faintly, while I froze with my brain stopped thinking for a moment.

I actually met the King. Looks like I won't be spared this time. []
