Chapter 10 - No longer safe

"Why didn't you let me know something like this was happening," Davian asked his niece, his voice strained with concern. "You could have lost the baby and your life." He looked at her, his eyes full of worry. She looked back at him, tears in her eyes.

"I didn't want to worry you," she said softly. "I thought I could handle it on my own."

"But you can't," Davian said firmly. "You need help. You need someone to watch out for you and the Davian shook his head. "You shouldn't have to handle something like this on your own," he said firmly. "We're family, and we're here to support each other

She nodded, tears streaming down her face. "I know," she said. "I'm sorry."

Davian took her hand in his. "Don't be sorry," he said. "Just let us help you." They sat in silence for a moment, the weight of the situation heavy on both of them.

Davian put a hand on her shoulder. "Listen to me," he said firmly. "When something like this is happening, you need to tell someone. You're not alone. We're here to help you and support you. And most importantly, we want you and the baby to be safe."

His niece looked up at him, her eyes filled with gratitude. "Thank you, Uncle Davian ," she said, her voice trembling. "I won't keep things like this to myself anymore. I promise."

Finally, Davian spoke again. "it's fine. I'll get someone to take you home and get your things, you're going to stay with me for the meantime.....

"No, uncle. I can't do that....

"What? With all you've told me you still want to go back there?"

"You know what I mean uncle. I can't leave the family only to return within half a year, that'll be failure on my part."

"But your life is in danger."

"I've gone to the police and they have assigned task force to protect me. I should be safe now," replied Kim .

"But what if they are in on it too? What if they are part of the conspiracy?" asked Davian , her voice trembling.

Kim sighed. She knew her uncle was just trying to look out for her, but she also knew that she couldn't live like this forever. "I have to trust someone, uncle. And right now, that someone is the police. I can't keep running and hiding. It's driving me crazy. I need to get on with my life, and the only way to do that is to face this head-on."

Davian looked at her friend, her eyes full of concern. "Just promise me you'll be careful, okay?"

Kim smiled. "I promise." She felt a sense of relief wash over her. For the first time in months, she felt like she might be able to breathe again.

When she left, she noticed that the cop in charge of protecting her was nowhere to be seen. She looked around nervously, wondering where he could have gone. She called his cell phone, but it went straight to voicemail. Just as she was about to panic, she heard his voice on the other end of the line.

"Hey, sorry about that," he said. "I had to step away for a minute. I'll be back in just a few minutes."

Relieved, she hung up the phone and waited for him to return. A few minutes later, he walked back into view, carrying a cup of coffee in his hand.

"Sorry about that," he said again with a smile. "I needed a quick coffee break. Are you ready to go?"

She nodded, still a little shaken by the sudden disappearance of her protector. But as they walked away together, she couldn't help but feel grateful for the cop's dedication to keeping her safe, even if it meant taking a quick break now and then.

Just as they were about to step into the taxi, Kim felt a sudden pang of hunger. Her stomach rumbled loudly, and she realized that she hadn't eaten anything all day. Luckily, she spotted a cozy little restaurant just a few steps away from where they were standing. She tugged on the cops arm and pointed excitedly to the restaurant. "Look, there's a place to eat right there!" she exclaimed.

He smiled and nodded, and they made their way over to the restaurant for a delicious meal."You can go in to eat, I'll just be out here waiting for you," the cop told her. She hesitated for a moment, looking at him suspiciously. But then her stomach growled, reminding her that she hadn't eaten all day.

"Fine," she said reluctantly, and stepped inside the diner.

The smell of bacon and eggs hit her nostrils, making her mouth water. She hadn't had a real meal in days, her cravings hadn't let her eat well for a while now.

She took a seat at the counter and ordered a full breakfast: eggs, bacon, toast, and coffee. The waitress smiled at her kindly, and it occurred to her that this might be the first time in weeks that someone had been genuinely nice to her.

As she ate, she kept one eye on the window, watching the cop outside. He seemed to be scanning the street, keeping an eye out for trouble.

Finally, she finished her meal and stepped outside. But as she stepped outside, she noticed something strange. The police officer was gone. She looked around, but he was nowhere to be seen. Panic set in as she realized that she was all alone.

As soon as she stepped out of the building, a man emerged from the shadows, brandishing a gleaming dagger. He lunged forward, aiming straight for her stomach. But this woman was no ordinary victim. She had trained in martial arts for years, honing her skills until they were almost second nature.

Without a second thought, she twisted her body to the side, using her attacker's momentum against him. With a quick strike, she disarmed the man and sent him stumbling backwards, his dagger clattering to the ground.

Breathing heavily, she stood her ground, ready for any further attacks. In that moment, she knew that her training had saved her life.

The man looked at her in shock, clearly not expecting such a swift and powerful response. She didn't hesitate for a moment, using the opportunity to deliver a swift kick to the attacker's chest, sending him sprawling backwards. As he lay there gasping for air, she quickly made her escape, heart pounding with adrenaline.

She ran back to her uncles place. She was no longer safe and he was the only knew she could trust
