Chereads / Loving Kimberly / Chapter 15 - Havard business school

Chapter 15 - Havard business school

"I got in! I got in!" Kim screamed as she ran into the house, waving her admission letter. She met Susan watching TV in the living room. Her heart was racing with excitement as she sat down next to her best friend.

"Got in? Got into what?" Susan asked, curious.

"Harvard Law School, Susan! I got in!" Kim exclaimed, her eyes shining with joy.

"What? No way! That's incredible!" Susan replied, her eyes wide with amazement.

"Yes way! And I owe it all to you. You helped me study for the LSAT, and your support and encouragement helped me believe in myself. I couldn't have done it without you," Kim said, tears of happiness streaming down her face.

Susan hugged her tightly. "I'm so proud of you, Kim. You deserve this. You're going to be an amazing lawyer."

Kim smiled through her tears. "Thanks, Susan. And I promise to make you proud."

"So what's the plan? Are you going to stay at the hostel or you'd be going from home?" Susan asked.

"I'll be staying at the hostel," replied Kim. "It's just more convenient and economical that way. I don't want to spend a lot of money on transportation expenses since the hostel is just a few blocks away from the university."

Susan nodded in agreement. "That makes sense. Plus, staying at the hostel will also give you a chance to meet new people and make some friends. Who knows, maybe you'll even find a study group or two."

Kim smiled. "Yeah, I'm hoping to connect with like-minded people who are also focused on their studies. It'll be great to have a support system while we navigate through the challenges of college."

With that, kim grabbed her bags and headed towards the roim, excited to start this new chapter in her life.

Kim looked at the house one more time. She was going to miss it - the creaky wooden floors, the cozy fireplace, the scent of freshly baked cookies wafting through the air. But most of all, she was going to miss Susan, her best friend since for almost two years.

They had grown up together in this house, sharing countless memories and secrets. Tears welled up in Kim's eyes as she thought about leaving it all behind.

"I'll come every week," Kim promised, turning to face Susan. "We'll still be able to hang out and catch up like we always have."

Susan gave her a small smile, but Kim could tell that she was trying to hold back tears as well. "I know," she said softly. "But it won't be the same without you here."

Kim nodded, her own tears now falling freely. "I know. But we'll always be best friends, no matter where I am."

With one last hug, Kim turned and walked away from the house, wondering what the future would hold. But she knew one thing for sure - no matter where life took her, Susan would always be a part of it.

Kincaid was seated in his spacious office, surrounded by piles of files and stacks of documents. He was so engrossed in his work that he barely registered the knock on his door. But when he heard the tentative voice of his personal assistant, he knew he couldn't ignore her.

"Come in," he barked, his voice icy and clipped.

The door creaked open and his PA entered, her eyes downcast. He knew how volatile Kincaid could be when he was in the middle of a project, and he didn't want to risk setting him off.

"What is it?" he demanded, not looking up from his work.

"I'm sorry to bother you, sir," he began, his voice barely above a whisper. "But there's someone here to see you. He says it's urgent."

Kincaid sighed, rubbing his temples with his fingers. He didn't have time for this. But he knew that he couldn't ignore a potential client, no matter how inconvenient the timing.

"did he say what it was he wanted," he asked, standing up and straightening his suit jacket.

"He's from Havard business school and...

The glare he got from his boss sent shivers down his spine. "You interrupted me for something as MInor?"

"I'm... I'm sorry sir but....

"Go see what he wants and get back to me." he said dismissing him.

Tim came back some minutes later and placed the letter in front of his boss. "You got an invite to speak at the orientation ceremony of Harvard Business School," he said, expecting excitement from his boss. But his boss just glanced at the letter and placed it back on the table without even bothering to read it.

Kincaid looked up from his desk and raised an eyebrow. "Harvard, huh? I don't know if I have time for that."

Tim was taken aback. He couldn't help but wonder what his boss was made of. This was a huge opportunity and a great honor, yet his boss behaved like it was just another day at the office. He had expected a bit more excitement, maybe even some enthusiasm, but instead, his boss seemed indifferent. It was frustrating and confusing all at the same time.

He wondered if his boss had forgotten what it was like to have such an opportunity, or if he simply didn't value it the way he did. Regardless, he knew that he had worked hard to get here, and he wasn't going to let his boss's attitude bring him down. He was determined to make the most of this opportunity, even if his boss didn't seem to appreciate it. This was a huge opportunity--one that could really boost his boss's career. "But sir, think about what this could do for your reputation," he said, trying to persuade him. "You could inspire a whole new generation of business leaders."

His boss considered this for a moment, then nodded. "You're right. This is a big deal. Let's do it." Tim couldn't believe it--they were going to Harvard!

But then came the words that shattered his enthusiasm. "You're in charge of all the preparations." His heart sank and his face fell. This was not the exciting challenge he had been hoping for. Instead, it felt more like a punishment.

He knew what that meant. It meant endless meetings, countless spreadsheets, and long hours at the office. 'What a mean boss,' he thought.
