"hello? Uncle what did you say was wrong with my baby?" Kim spoke into the pkone2as she made her way down the street to where she could get a cab. Davian's voice trembled as he spoke to his niece over the phone. "I don't know what to do," he repeated. "He's been crying nonstop. Nothing I do can pacify him."
Kim felt a pang of concern in her chest. She knew how important family was to her uncle, and she could hear the desperation in his voice. "Okay. I'm on my way, Uncle," she said, already grabbing her keys and heading for the door.
"I'll see you soon," Davian said, his relief audible. "Thank you, Kim."
"Of course, Uncle," Kim replied. "Anything for family." She hung up the phone and headed out into the street, to get a cab.
As Kim spoke on the phone, her eyes darted behind her every few seconds. Kim's conversation on the phone was not able to distract her from her senses that were on high alert. Her martial arts training had taught her to be aware of her surroundings at all times.
She kept stealing glances behind her and her suspicions grew stronger as each second passed by. She was sure that someone was following her. Her mind raced with questions as to who could be following her and why.
Kim knew that she couldn't let her guard down and had to find a way to evade whoever was following her. She ended her phone call quickly and began to plan her next move, ready to use her martial arts training to protect herself.
Kim's heart raced as she looked over her shoulder and saw the shadowy figure trailing her. She knew she couldn't outrun them, so instead of stopping a cab, she began walking briskly down the street.
She weaved in and out of throngs of people, her eyes darting around for any sign of her follower. As she turned a corner, she caught a glimpse of someone in a dark hoodie disappearing into an alleyway. Should she follow them or try to lose them in the crowd? Kim's mind raced as she weighed her options, knowing that her next move could make all the difference.
* * * *
Kimberly had had enough of being followed around. She had noticed the same man lurking in the shadows of her apartment building and trailing her on her way to school for weeks now.
At first, she tried to ignore him, but as the days went on, her fear grew. She decided it was better to catch who her stalker was. That way she could question him and find out why he was following her.
She took a sharp bend into a dark alley, her heart pounding in her chest. She had felt him following her for blocks and knew she couldn't lead him to her apartment. She slipped behind a dumpster and waited, her breath coming in ragged gasps.
It wasn't long before she saw him, the man who had been following her. He was tall and menacing, with a cold look in his eyes. She knew she had to act fast. With one swift move, she stepped out from behind the dumpster and kicked him in the knee. He let out a surprised grunt and stumbled, giving her the opening she needed.
Before he could recover, she delivered a quick blow to his stomach, sending him to the ground. She hovered over him, ready to strike again if he made a move. But he didn't. Instead, he lay there, groaning in pain.
He stumbled back as the blows rained down on him. He tried to defend himself, but the woman was too fast and too furious. Finally, she stopped, and he collapsed to the ground, panting and weak.
As the man slumped to the ground, gasping for breath, he struggled to answer the woman's question. As the man lay there on the ground, gasping for breath, he could hardly believe what had just happened. One moment he was following the woman down the street, trying to catch up to her. The next moment, she had turned around and started hitting him with a flurry of punches and kicks.
He tried to get up, but his legs gave out and he fell back down again. The woman stood over him, her fists still clenched, and demanded to know who he was and why he was following her.She had come out of nowhere, attacking him with a ferocity he had never seen before.
But as he looked up at her, he knew he couldn't lie. "I'm sorry," he wheezed. "I was sent to follow you. I don't know why." The woman's grip tightened on his collar. "Who sent you?" she demanded. But the man could only shake his head weakly. He had no answers, only questions. Why had he been sent to follow this woman? And who was she, really?
"Who sent you." she asked again.
"I... It's....
Kim stared in horror as the man before her began coughing uncontrollably. She could see the veins in his neck bulging and his face turning a deep shade of red. But what happened next shocked her even more. Suddenly, blood began to pour from his eyes, ears, and mouth. Kim's heart raced as she watched him slump to the ground, his body convulsing in a violent seizure.
She didn't know what to do, but she knew she had to act fast. With trembling hands, she reached for her phone and dialed 911but she wasn't going to stay around for them to come. She quickly took to her heels.
AS she ran, she couldn't help but wonder what had caused the man's sudden illness. Was it something he had eaten? Or was it something more sinister?
She took a deep breath and straightened up, trying to shake off the fear that was coursing through her. She couldn't let her uncle see her like this. He would be worried sick and would undoubtedly take drastic measures to protect her.
She exhaled heavily, trying to calm her nerves and clear her mind. She knew she had to pull herself together, no matter how difficult it seemed. She couldn't let her guard down, not even for a moment.
With a determined look on her face, she steeled herself and prepared to face whatever was coming next.
As she stepped off the curb, she waved down a cab and climbed inside. Her hands were shaking, but she tried to take deep breaths to calm herself down. She had to be strong for her baby, who needed her more than anything. She couldn't let herself fall apart now.
The drive to her uncle's place felt like an eternity, but she made it. As the cab pulled up to the curb, she took a deep breath and stepped out onto the sidewalk. She squared her shoulders and walked up to the front door, determined to do whatever it took to get her baby the help he needed.
As soon as she arrived at her uncle's house, she found him pacing back and forth with the baby in his arms. The baby was red-faced and screaming at the top of his lungs.
Kim took the baby from her uncle and began to gently rock him back and forth. She hummed a soft tune and whispered soothing words to the baby, and after a few moments, the crying began to subside. Kim continued to rock the baby until he fell asleep in her arms.
"You're a natural," her uncle said, looking at her with gratitude. "Thank you so much for coming." Kim smiled and handed the sleeping baby back to her uncle. "Of course. Anytime you need me, just call."
