"Grandma! It's only going to be a few weeks or maybe a month." Kincaid said for the umpteenth time.
"A few weeks? A month? You're going to live me alone with this grumpy old man for week?"
"You married him, didn't you?" Kincaid said trying to suppress his laugh. This woman was full of drama.
"I wouldn't have married him if I knew he'd be like this." Granny sputtered indignantly.
"Well you didn't know he would be as petty as a two year old. He's that way because of you. You ruin everything for everyone."
"That's not the point here Caid." Grandpa Patrick said as he walked down the stairs. "How am I like? You wouldn't have married me if you knew I'd be like this?"
"Like you don't know! You're lazy and Petty and forgetful and....
"Grandma! That's all part of being old."
"I'm old and I ain't none of that shit." Granny said with exasperation. She picked up the magazine and threw it at him, missing him by a few inches.
"Hey boy! Did you just call me old?" Grandpa Patrick asked as he came into the living room. He put his arm around Granny's shoulders who tried to pull away but he held her tightly with a smug look on his face.
"Caid, what's going on?" Grandpa asked.
"Nothing, we're just having a conversation." Kincaid said while glaring at Granny. "She's complaining about how long I'll be traveling."
"Oh sweetie! Let him have his time. He's been at this for how long?"
"Six months grandpa! Six fucking months."
"Don't swear in front of us you idiot!" Grandpa said looking annoyed.
Kincaid shook his head and went back to packing. These two were just too alike.
Kincaid Alexander, the CEO of zedEx conglomerates. He lived a comfortable life with his grandparents in a huge house on the outskirts of the city, isolated from the bustle of society.
He's on top of the business world, a success by all accounts. He makes decisions for a reason, and most of the time it works.
He began with computers and electronics manufacturing, and sold it to the big dogs of the tech world, accumulating money from the sale. From there he purchased the import company that had grown to become a powerhouse in luxury goods. He then decided to spread his tentacles into other industries and became the leader in the shipping industry. By the time he turned thirty, he was on top of the world.
He had been working on a new technology that would make many companies obsolete, but some people stood in his way. There were individuals within his companies that thought he was crazy to invest so much time and money in an enterprise that could only fail. A voice told him that he could make a fortune from it if he ignored the naysayers. So he dismissed them and pursued the dream.
It took him half a year to accomplish it, but he had finally achieved his goal. The technology produced miniature robots. These small machines could change their shape and form, but with some special programmed commands and manipulation. They could then go about and find raw materials or produce products of their choosing. They could build or modify anything. They had a basic intelligence and all needed for survival was a power source.
After six months of sleepless nights and countless days of trial and error, he had finally made it. He spent months programming, testing and fine tuning the final bots, and finally brought them to life.
He decided to take a month off work and just go somewhere to relax and enjoy himself and that had been the bone of contention between him and his grandma.
"I'm not saying he shouldn't go, I'm just saying a month is too long. Who is he leaving the company for?" Granny said, her hands on her hips.
"You and Grandpa can handle it. Please grandma, let me do this....
"Oh c'mon sweetie! Let him have a break! He's had enough, just let him be! Let the boy go." Patrick said and whispered something into his wife's ear. She pulled back and looked at him. "How are we sure that would happen?"
"Let's just hope against hope."
Kincaid knee they were talking about the possibility of him bringing home a wife from his trip.
"I'm not going to settle down. I'm never going to be with anyone ever again." Kincaid replied to Patrick's question and grimaced at how off he was.
"You'll change your mind."
"Whatever! I'm I allowed to go and have a look around the world and spend some time with myself?" Kincaid said "can I go on a vacation and rest my tired brain and hands and legs and...
"Fine! You can go. Stop being a big baby." Grandma said with an exasperated tone.
Kincaid smiled and gave grandpa Patrick a thumbs up. "I'll be back before you know it grandma." He said hugging her tight and walked out the door.
Patrick looked at his wife with a smile on his face. "That was awesome." He told her.
"Really? Did you get something out of it?"
"More than you can imagine. I get to have some alone time with my wife." He said wriggling his eyebrows and then the both of them shared a laugh.
Now do not be fooled by his display here. He is only like this when he is with his grandparents but outside, Kincaid is Known as the ruthless and calculating doer of evil, who always steps over and around people to get what he wants.
When there is conflict within him, he will confront his enemies and destroy them. No matter the size or the strength, he will hurt or kill to get what he wants.
He is the CEO that everyone feared to work for. He is the silent assassin in the shadow of the villain. He is also the threat that every organisation and group of people put in check.
Yes, people always thought he was a bad guy but he is the good guy with a dark side.
* * * *
In a small apartment, a beautiful lady stood in her robe, looking out the window.
Her curves created the perfect curves of a grown woman.
Her hair was as black as coal, and it covered her breast.
It was so dark, you couldn't tell where it ended.
Only her face gave her away.
Her delicate features made her beautiful and that was when she heard her phone ringing.
She picked it up and said, "Hello?"
She started to walk to the couch and sat down. "Tell me you have good news for me."
"Yes I do." The voice on the other end of the line said.
"Tell me."
"I just dropped him off at the airport. He's on his way to a small town in New York."
"Great! Do you have someone keeping tabs on him?"
"Yes ma'am. Once he's settled in, I'll let you know."
"Thank you!"
She hung up the phone and looked out the window.
Finally, she was going to have the man of her dream. It didn't matter how she got him, all that mattered was that she finally had him.
She looked at that bottle and clothes on the floor and a smile crept on her face.
It was time for the next phase of her plan.
