Back at the headquarters of the Imperial Demon Army, Guren was a bit upset by the fact that Atsushi decided to leave. But, at the same time, he knows that because he remembers the time Atsushi was unable to make a contract with a demon. So, the helicopter landed at the headquarters' helipad, catching the attention of some of the soldiers of the Imperial Demon Army. Once he gets off, Atsushi turns to the pilot. "Thanks!" With that, the helicopter ascended from the helipad and left.
Atsushi then turned to the soldiers. "Finally, I'm back…"
"Atsushi Ikari," one of the soldiers said to him. "Guren is calling you to his office.
Atsushi saw that coming, so he just went with the soldiers.
Not long after, he was in Guren's office.
"Is it true you went all the way to Yokohama all by yourself?" he asked Atsushi. "Did you take a transfer exam at the Red Scarlet Army's headquarters?"
He doesn't know that Atsushi has a mountain spirit because Yeager kept it confidential.
"Yes, sir," Atsushi replied firmly. "I'm now declaring my resignation from the Imperial Demon Army, and I will be leaving for Yokohama tomorrow."
"I see," Guren replied back. "I'll terminate your application, and you may leave tomorrow morning. You're not a good fit, after all, Ikari-san."
"Yes."
With that, Atsushi turned back and left the office.
At this point, he has to surrender his sword as a result, and Atsushi does so without any hesitation. Later that day, Yuichiro and his squad were informed of it by Shinya. They were afraid that they would lose him forever.
And so, the next morning, at 5:55 a.m., as Atsushi loads his belongings in the back of the military truck of the Red Scarlet Army, Yuichiro approaches him and expresses to him how he and his team will miss him.
But, Atsushi turned to him and placed his hands on his shoulders. "It's okay, Yuichiro-kun, I will never forget you or your friends. We're friends, after all. I will do my best to help you guys, okay?"
Eventually, Yuichiro gave a slight smile. "Yes, thank you."
Behind him, Yoichi cries because Atsushi will leave, prompting Mitsuba to give him comfort.
"Don't worry, I'll be fine," Atsushi said to them.
After that, he removed his hands, turned back, and hopped into the back of the military truck as Yuichiro and his friends waved him goodbye.
The truck eventually left the headquarters and on its way to Yokohama.
But Atsushi has no idea that this choice will give him something in return.
