Chapter 20 - Secretary Vs Secretary (2)

Though Eva felt like cussing right in front of him, she was reminded that this man was her senior and was even far older than her.

Well, there was nothing she could say anymore, she only looked down at her file, while praying in her mind for him to go already. He made her feel, fortunately, uncomfortable.

"Ms Lee?"

"Sir?"

"I was thinking you would start reading the file without taking a thorough look at the cover it contained."

What the hell? Did this man need a serious beating? If he agreed to this, promising that it would not affect their work, she would have punched him right in his face as a warm-up.

Hadn't this same man said she didn't have to read through it now and she could feel comfortable in her own office? Ah, goodness!

"Right, sir. I will go through it!"

"Not with this tensed posture of yours, Secretary Lee," he uttered which almost made her smile.

She loved the way it rolled out from his lips. Eva shook her head as the fact of whatever she was saying dawned on her.

Mr Chan shifted his chair to the back and stood up, he walked over to the cubicle Maryam had told her that it was for entertainment and the very next time she veered her eyes from the file to him, he stretched out a coffee mug, "Here is your coffee, Secretary Lee."

"Thank you, Mr. Chan."

He nodded and went back to his seat. Eva took a sip from it and then slowly dropped it, as she did her best not to skim the first page of the file. Whatever was on the first page was what she was familiar with. It talked about basic information pertaining to Aweseong Corporation, for sure she had done her research before she was interviewed.

As time passed, she even had no idea there was a man who sat down across from her. She was basically focused on the file and had covered about twenty pages.

Leon looked at the woman before him and then smiled, due to the serious look she had on her face and sometimes, the look of confusion that confounded her reaction was quite entertaining to him.

Though he thought she would be a good replacement, he felt a small pity for her knowing that the work that she had just got herself into wasn't as easy as she might have guessed.

He continuously looked at her, pretending to be staring at his coffee until her eyes slowly moved up, catching his fixed gaze on her which made him clear his throat almost immediately. "Do you need anything, Ms Lee?"

Eva didn't notice his previous gaze solely on her as she was consumed by whatever was in the file. She answered him, "Not a problem, certainly not something I can't handle, however, I would love to ask a few questions."

"Be my guest, Ms Lee."

"I find it hard to connect the relationship between WILANDTECH and Aweseong Cooperation. WILANDTECH has been occurring too frequently and I can say that though there is a litany of their business transactions with Aweseong Corporation, I do not think they are fit to be considered as a competition."

She couldn't help but ask. The irony of the fact that she would be indirectly fighting against the people she had worked with and had provided her with comfort for the two years she had worked there dawned on her. And she found it quite meaningful now that she was asked about the reason she had left the company. They certainly wanted something to use against them which, to be honest, didn't seem like a good thing to do.

"Though, WILANDTECH do not seem to be a company that fits our standard to be a competition, however, there is a private relationship between one of their executives and the CEO of Aweseong Corporation and as a result of the sour-turned relationship, they have set to with all their strength be responsible for our downfall."

Eva frowned.

She could have said, No, it wasn't true for she had not heard anything related to that when she served as WILANDTECH employee but she knew there would certainly be some things the company would even keep from their workers to avoid any dispute or mistake in the future.

"May I ask what kind of relationship this could be?"

Leon looked at her and spotted how concerned she was in this conversation, so he didn't see the reason why he shouldn't proceed but actually, the reason was a bit glaring for he knew by now, his boss would have been expecting him to see him after fixing the camera.

Mr Saverio just after he was made known that she had arrived had told Leon to fix the camera somewhere it wouldn't be probable. Leon had initially disagreed since it was bad to be intruding especially in a woman's privacy but he didn't care because he still doubted the woman's objective and thought that being keenly observant with her would save them from any mistakes in the future.

Leon knew that whatever he wanted to say was going to be certainly loud in his boss's ears but he didn't care anyway since anyway, the new secretary ought to know. "The MD of WILANDTECH has a younger sister who has a sour relationship with our CEO."

Since the man seemed to be crouching further, signalling it was a secret, Eva leaned further. She was very good at conversing when it also came to secrets. Her reaction surprised Leon but he did proceed anyway with his information, "She is Miss Cinderella, the youngest darling of Mr Williams Hong."

"Oh..." Eva's voice trailed. She knew the woman. That woman who always forced every worker to call her Cindy, with a smile that could kill.

"And what could be the cause of their sour relationship?"

"Mr. Saverio and Ms. Cinderella once agreed to be married to each other, however, on their wedding day, Mr. Saverio planted a surprise."

"Wow...I never heard of this."

"The Hong family has decided to keep it from the public and has burnt all media who claimed to be hard-headed."

Eva nodded knowing, WILANDTECH could do such a thing as that to protect their image. "But Mr Chan, what exactly did Mr Saverio plot?"

Leon was about to answer her, however, there was a knock at the door.

"Come in," Eva sat down properly wondering who it was and then a huge man with black spectacles came into view.

"Secretary Chan, the CEO demands your presence."

Leon nodded and stood up while Eva's gaze was still fixed on the man.

Leon knew whatever it was, his boss had come to take him away from disclosing anything further. He could not help but chuckle at his boss' hatred towards women.
