Nolan was flipping pancakes when Jonah and Holly walked in."Good morning," he said."Morning. What can we help with?" Jonah asked."Nothing. Caylee and I have it done, so go ahead and sit down."Nolan ate for several minutes before putting his fork down and taking a sip of his coffee. "We wanted to talk to you two."Jonah and Holly looked at him."Caylee and I have decided to move into my condo today."Holly's gaze went to Caylee. "Is that what you want?""Yes. Are you okay with me not being here all the time?""It will be weird, but it has to happen sometime," Holly said."You'll see each other every day, girls," Nolan said."That will help," Holly said. "When today are you thinking?"Nolan picked up Caylee's hand. "Right after breakfast. We've got some packages of clothing we ordered to go through, and we'll have to order some groceries. All you have to do is call if you need to see her."Holly nodded and smiled. "As long as Caylee's happy, I am.""I'm very happy," Caylee said."Let's finish so we can get some things done," Nolan said. He was anxious to get his girl alone and in his own home. They all cleaned up the dishes, and Caylee hugged Holly goodbye before Nolan took her hand and led her into the elevator. When the door slid open on his level, he stepped out with an arm around her waist. "It's the same setup as Jonah's condo, just different colors, and furniture. It was like this when I moved in, and since I don't plan to live here too much longer, I left it the way it was." He didn't mention that his plans would have to change because of Caylee's predicament. He didn't want to remind her of it the first time he saw her home."I think it's nice.""Here are the packages I had someone drop off for us. Let's take them into the bedroom and put them away.""Oh, my, there are so many. I didn't want you to buy me this much.""I enjoyed it." He gathered up the majority of the sacks. Once in the master bedroom, he set the bags on the bed and started taking things out of them. "I'll grab some scissors to cut the tags off."Caylee held up a light-blue blouse. "This is so pretty, Nolan.""I had a lot of fun.""When did you do this?""While you and Holly were watching a movie."It took them an hour to put everything away."There is bubble bath, women's shampoo and conditioner, and other things that were suggested that you'd like.""It's too much."He wrapped his arms around her. "Are you happy?""Yes, very much.""Then it was definitely worth it.""You know I would have been just as happy with you and only you.""Damn, you're sweet." He bent and pressed his lips against hers. It deepened quickly until they were both ravished and holding on to each other. He ripped his mouth from hers. "We need to stop. We have groceries to buy and lunch to make in the next hour or so. I want our first time to be when we're in bed for the night because I will want to hold you for a very long time."She smiled. "I'd like that, too.""Good. Let's go."He took her hand, led her into his office, sat in his chair, and pulled her into his lap. They spent the next hour buying the groceries they'd need for the week."Hey, I've got some calls to make. Do you want to stay in here and read on the sofa or go watch TV in the living room?""I'd like to read in here.""Good. I've got some books here. We'll order some tomorrow or later today if you don't like any of them.""These will work. I see several authors that I enjoy.""Good. Go get comfortable. This shouldn't take me long.""Okay."He watched as she picked out a book and got comfortable on the sofa before getting some work done. The next time he looked at the clock, close to two hours had passed."Hey, baby girl. Are you at a good page to stop at? I'd like us to make lunch.""Yes." She looked at the page in the book she was on and set it down on the sofa table.Later that day, after they'd put away the groceries they ordered, they sat together on the sofa, watching a movie, when the phone rang."How about you go in and get ready for bed? I want you to wear what I laid out on the mattress.""Okay."He lifted her onto her feet and watched her walk away before answering his phone."Hey, man," Jonah said. "I called to tell you that there has been an FBI investigation on Jones for over a year.""Fuck. Do they realize how many women have gone missing just in this year alone?" Nolan asked."Yes. But they have to do this by the book or he could walk."Nolan wiped a hand down his face. "Yeah, I realize that. It doesn't make it easier to deal with.""No, it doesn't.""At least it's a beginning, and they probably already have some evidence against him.""I assume they do. I'll talk to you later," Jonah said."Yeah. Thanks for calling."He stuffed the phone into his pocket. Fuck. He didn't know if that was good news or not. He respected those agencies and knew the cop was bad, but the fact that they'd been investigating him for a year and didn't have enough to arrest him worried him.He didn't want to think about it anymore. He had a woman in his bedroom, and he wasn't going to keep her waiting.
